Anyone else notice this?
I've been working out steadily now for about 2 months... Before it was just a hit and miss deal, and I've managed to lose 15 pounds since December...
What I was wondering... 'cause this has happened to me recently... Does anyone else notice that your craving for sugar seems to go down when you eat better and work out regularly?
I used to be a huge chocolate fan... and basically loved all things sweet... but I've noticed that since I've been attempting to eat better and have been working out, my craving for sweets has basically diminished.
I don't like artificial sugar like Splenda and what not, and I still haven't worked my way to eating sugar free food... But... I've noticed I've been getting better at watching my calorie intake and portioning foods. I limit my soda intake to about one or two a week... and I can't really tolerate eating anything that tastes like it has a bunch of sugar in it.
I just wanna know I'm not the only one. =)
I've definately noticed a decline in the amount of sugar rich junk. I don't drink soda anymore and haven't in years it's just too sweet. I don't know if it's from counting becasue it's new to me but think its just that I 'm getting older.
My need for chocolate will probably never completely fade, but as for any other sugary food, meh. I just don't want it. It's funny because now I'm even turning my nose up at fruit! All I want now are veggies, whole wheat (anything white is yucky) and MEAT! Any red meat is better than candy to me.
Even when I do decide to eat something sweet, it leaves me feeling strangely empty afterwards, and not satisfied at all.
Well, you'll notice that when you eat sugar, it makes you crave more sugar.
So yeah, if you're cutting down on sugar for whatever reason, you'll ultimately be reducing the desire for it too =]
I'm just like you...major chocaholic, but I haven't craved chocolate much and when I do want it, I just drink hot chocolate and I"m okay. I haven't had a piece of chocolate candy since Valentine's Day!!!
I was addicted to ICE CREAM! I had to have a huge bowl every night or it was the end of the world... now I haven't had ice cream since March, and if I'm craving some frozen goodness I will have sorbet instead :]
I have to have something sweet at the end of the day. Every day. I just look forward to it. I will always love chocolate.
Original Post by cellulitedelight:' I know twix is the best candy ever!!!!
It doesn't matter how perfectly I eat, how much I work out, how much water I drink, or how much sugar I've recently had. I always want a Twix.
I don't crave chocolate anymore, but if it's there i WILL eat it... shame on my dad for buying half of cadburys
30-something calorie options hot chocolate sachets are a lifesaver at the moment though (exams = stress = sugar!)
This has definitely happened with fatty food though - bacon and fried egg butties used to be a favourite, and now omelettes make me queasy ![]()
I can't even look at oily or greasy food now... I'm looking at it like, "You have the potential to clog so many arteries..." Lol. I've started wiping grease off of pizza whenever I have the chance to have it.
I think you'll notice just what you wrote in your last post. Sugar cravings will drop, but so will eating other things which are generally poor. When I'm in marathon mode or something else, I noticed my propensity towards what I'd call "quick fix" foods dropped quite a bit. Things like processed crackers, non-homemade cookies (something about homemade makes them seem less dangerous to my well-being) and pre-packaged meals became less appealing. I'd come back from a run and not only feel guilty about eating them but also not interested and my body would crave better food. I had always wondered but never really cared until it was tougher to stay in shape. I googled it and found quite a few articles basically concuring with my realization.
Such a good side benefit that you don't even really have to focus upon. Your body finally does it on its own! :)
