Anyone else out there 18 years old, 5'3" and 125 pounds? I need a buddy!

I know it sounds specific but there are SO many people on this site, someone's gotta be pretty close to that! I'm really hoping to lose 10-15 pounds in the next couple months but I have NO motivation at all... I'll be doing well for a couple days and then just watch tv with a pizza and pint of icecream and totally ruin all the good work I did. I need a buddy to check-in with and keep me motivated. Anyone feel the same?!

Heey Veggielove! I'm 18 and 5'0 close enough! And i'm 120-122 pounds! I'm pretty much the same as you in motivation...The first week can go really well and then i ruin it again! Sooo we could motivate eachother to stay away from the pizza and ice cream! I really need the help too :D

hey there..im 17.5"3 and i weigh around 125 pounds as well...planing to lose around 10 pounds to fit into my old clothes...right now im working on increasing my calorie intake to 1500 so im bound to put on a bit of weight(not too much,i hope)/ hopefully my body recovers after my previous diet of 1ooo-1200 calories per day.i just need motivation to eat more lol. why don't you not buy pizza and ice cream?or if you do,give the rest away and put the pizza in a deep freezer.

yeah someone told me that because we're teens we should be eating around 1500 calories...but i don't exercise much (i'm trying though!) and loosing weight on a 1500 calorie diet is bound to more difficult than on a 1200 calorie diet, right? I know i really should be eating 1500 but i really want to lose the weight too...soo yeahh i don't really know which way i should be going about this!

yeah we should be eating a minimum of 1500...and i know it sounds crazy that eating more makes it easier to lose weight.but it really is true..so many ppl hv said that in the beginning they gain a bit of weight..but only temporary weight as it takes time for the body to adjust and later on when the body has sufficient nutrients, the weight gained disappears. true, when u switch to a 1200 calorie diet you're bound to lose weight quickly but only in the beginning.i ended up putting on more weight than i had lost in the long run and i  find it impossible to lose weight even with the exercise im doing

Really? Well that's good to know! I'll change 10 a 1500 calorie diet then...And i'll try to exercise even more!...What do you do for exercise?

well, for day 1, i do a bit of strength training(squats, push ups, light weights) for about half an hour. day 2 ill spend around 30 minutes on my jump rope and then light ab exercises(crunches etc),day 3 ill work on the legs and arms again. day 4 will be around 30-35 minutes walk/jog, day 5 will be either 30-35 min jog/jump rope . but i dont follow this strictly..sometimes i slack off when i feel lazy. i also go for martial arts weekly and swimming although that isn't too regular.this isn't the best exercise plan for sure, but to just get moving as often as possible is good enough, combined with strength training

That's a great plan actually! And you've lost weight doing this? I really didn't have and idea of what to do, I'll start something like that... i usually do carodio everyday (unless i'm working...then i'm to tired!) and alternate abs, butt one day and legs and arms the next...It works for me...except i haven't been doing it long enough to lose any weight    -_-

It really hard for me to lose weight! i'm not losing any and its really annoying, maybe the calorie intake change will help !

maybe u could ask around on the forum for the best exericse plan for you=)

i've lost weight the moment i went on 1000-1200 cals per day diet with almost no exercise but put it back on (and more!) as the years went by.so no,i hv not lost weight YET doing these exercises but im sure i will once i start eating normally again. im in the same condition as you..my body refuses to lose weight. so yeah, hopefully the calorie intake change will help =)

I think one of my big issues is that my fiends and family are very nosey and make annoying comments if I'm looking at the calories on something, etc. so it's hard to figure out how many calories I've eaten in a day because any sign of me watching my calories is a HUGE deal to them. Also, I've been around a lot of beer and chips, etc. this summer and that is really not helping my case. I just want to feel great about myself when I go off to college in August so I can meet people and be who I am without being all self-conscious.

Yeah it's a bit the same with me...i can count all the calories in the meals I make, but a meals like dinner i always have to guess! But you know if you manage to overcome the cravings for those beers and chips, nothing's gonna get to you! Just think about how you'll look great in the end! It helps me stay away from all that stuff :D

Haha thanks! Saying it like that makes it sound so easy but actually being at a party and avoiding it is SO hard for me! I've noticed that when I binge it's almost always mindless... It's more of a "HELL YEAH let's run to the grocery store and buy a ton of ice cream and chocolate!!!" and then I gorge myself and it's only until I've already done the damage that I realize it did more harm than good and that I feel miserable. I'm not the type to weigh pros and cons before eating.. more like an EAT NOW CRY LATER type ;)

Yeah actually i'm like that too, but what also helps me is imagining eating that yummy yet disgusting food! I know it sounds weird but if you imagine it in a really detailed way it might be enough to not need to eat it...Also i know how hard it is to weigh the pros and cons, but! it acutally really helps to not go buy that ton of ice cream and crap, just take a minute and think about it and it'll be easier to not be tempted :P

ORRR Iff you really feel like eating crap, distract yourself! That really helps me, it's saved me many times from binging!

some friends told me that they clean the house or arrange photo albums when they need a distraction lol.

i hv problems estimating how many calories i take in per day as well. so i hv to guess. coz my family eats chinese food mostly, and sometimes we dont even know the name of things we eat..like the type of fish we're hving, different type of noodles of which we only know the chinese names so its pretty much impossible to search for it on the internet.i think i end up overestimating calories sometimes.

Yeah i probably do the same...i still think it's better to overestimate though...you know just in case lol

What do you eat to keep yourself full on 1000-1200 calories per day. I find it hard sticking with 1200 calories per day because i don't stay full and its hard for me to eat just plain veggies.

yeah it's hard to feel full with 1200 calories but once you get used to it it's not too bad.

Try veggies with dips like hummus or spinach dip, they're good for you (especially home made) and taste great...

I also drink alot alot alot of water and eat a bowl of salad (with a heatlthy dressing mind you) before a meal or for a snack.

I tried the "classic hummus" and i don't know if i got the wrong kind or what but it was really bland to me. How else can you make veggies low calorie? Like grilling them sounds good but with what?

Some spices? chilli powder, dried basil, oregano, rosemary, cayenne pepper... whatvever you want! I like steaming my vegetables and putting a little olive oil and lemon juice..sometimes garlic powder too

I love raw vegetables with tzatziki but it's not that good for you so i try not to eat it too often!

I really like this website for vegetable recipes:

http://whatscookingamerica.net/Vegetables.htm

It has alot of neat recipes and most of them are heathly too :D

Oh, I'll be an extra buddy.

I'm the same weight but an inch shorter than you (But a year older). I hope I reach my mini-goal of 120 by late Aug. and my final goal of 110-ish around November.

What I do for exercise is...well, nothing really. I talk long walks everywhere since I don't drive. It's a 50 minute walk to my summer classes and another 50 minutes back, and usually I hang out with nearby friends and we walk around the park as we gossip. I pair my walking with calorie counting and this is how I lost the first five pounds.

I zig zag my calories. One day it'll be 1,200 and the next it'll be 1,600. Or one day 1,300 and next 1,500. It works for me since on a 1,600 day I can cheat a bit and eat naughty stuff.

Heyy you're a memeber since my birthday lol! :D

Have you lost any weight yet? I haven't and i can't wait to see results, but i'm keeping at it!
