Does anyone else have these problems??
Need a little advice and maybe some morale support. Started this weight loss kick in November 2008 at 235 pds. I have been eating very healthy (maybe 1300 calories per day). Working out like a dog (treadmill, exercise bike, stretch bands, weight lifting 10-20 pds., the ball, sit-ups) all togeter anywhere from 1-2 hrs. per day. I down to 153 pds. This all took 8 months!! I know I lost a little fast, but I know I did it all the right way. I am 40 years old with two children.
Problem is I see and feel the muscle and feel the power and energy each day and it's wonderful. I put moisturizer on daily, tried everything from cocoa butter products to you name it. Has anyone had to deal with the skin not just sagging with fat in it, but even not sagging, but wrinkly all over their body. I can see the skin changing almost everyday. My breast, arms, inner thighs and stomach are the worst. I work on them also constantly trying to build muscle. How long does it take for the saggy fat areas to catch up??? I was hoping by the end of the year if I keep this up, I won't be complaining as much. I would like to get down to 130-135 pds. It's to the point where even when I sit down on my butt with my legs forward on the floor, the bottoms of the thighs hang down with all the fat underneath and the muscle under that. It is so discouraging!! Also, it's like my whole butt is hanging and I can also feel my tailbone when I sit. I have to be careful when I sit. Has anyone else had that problem. I am hoping with time the butt will tighten up, but????? If anyone else has dealt with this and conquered it, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jan
i'd have to say you're not eating enough for your activity level. you've lost so much weight so quickly that your skin hasn't been able to keep up shrinkage-wise. you need to eat more and slow your rate of loss so your skin can catch up. if you keep undereating the way you are, you're just gonna have to deal with the saggy, wrinkly skin.
I know that you're right. I think what happened along the way is I got a hold of a treadmill. I exersize with everything else, but I got addicted to it. I love the treadmill diong 3.5 and would sometimes spend an hour after work every day Just seing the scale go down like it did, I loved it. Also, I would walk during my lunch hours up the YMCA track.
I have also gotten to the point where I am very satisfied with what I am eating. On most days, I eat about 1/2 cup of multi-grain cheerios in the morning (I hate breakfast). A large salad for lunch with lettuce, spinach, tomatoe, and about 1/2 c. chicken with seven seas mix salad dressing, and for dinner I usually have a lean quisine dinner. I eat maybe a yogurt, a apple or a banana in between every day. I also take daily supplements, one-a-day, collagen, Vit. A, Vit. C, Calcium, Vit. E, Zinc, fish oil, gelatin, ginko.
As of yesterday, I burned my treadmill out. The motor isn't working and getting hot and it started stopping itself after about 5 minutes. I'd like to buy another one, but I wonder if I should just give it up and work more on the bike and other exersize without the treadmill. I still have 30 more pounds to go. I have been at a stand still for about 3 weeks now. Seriously, I am so happy and satisfied with what was doing, I could do it for the rest of my life. Do you think there's a chance this can all be corrected with muscle work and adding more to the calorie intake now?
Hey Jan,
I'll be the 1st to admit that I am not an expert on this subject but, if I were you I would consult a doctor. If you've been over weight for a long time your skin might not bounce back. It happens to some people. A doctor would know if there is something more you could do or if the only solution is surgical.
Sorry, I feel like the bearer of bad news,
(I think you should keep up the treadmill. Congratulations on the loss!)
Karen
I think no matter how slow or fast you lose that much weight you will have saggy skin- especially as we get older our skin is less likely to "bounce back". There is a friend of mine here on CC who lost major weight in the right time frame and she's youing but still won't wear short sleeves and is saving $ to get a total body lift due to the loose skin.
I know when I lost 55 lbs my arms still had the saggy baggy thing and even now after gaining some weight back and lifting heavy weights that arm issue just won't go away ( I'm almost 50) I won't do plastick surgery - I'm just learning this is the way I'm made and will just continue to hope someday that saggy skin will dissipate.
