Has anyone else had similar problems?

I'm recovering from an eating disorder, and when I first increased my calorie intake I became really bloated after each meal and experienced a lot of abdominal discomfort.

After gaining 5kg, these symptoms are not as bad except now I get diarrhea quite regularly [as in every couple of days] and I get pretty gassy sometimes [yep, sorry for the details everyone].

Has anyone had similar sort of problems after increasing their calorie intake by quite a lot? [I've tripled mine]

and is there anything I can do to help it?
or will it just get better with time?

thankyou :P

oh and just to add; I drink around 2.5L of water [its strange coz I did during my Ed too except it made me feel really faint], I drink green tea [two cups a day] and I reckon my fibre intake is just about right.
Don't know if any of that really makes a difference haha

I'm seeing my dietition in a couple of days so I will ask them about it [if I remember]

Yes my stomach from all the years of this is pretty screwed up. Even now doing well I get constipated then have diarreha and the cycle goes back and forth. The bloating/gas/pressure is always there. I have been checked my gp so I would encourage you to as well. I have IBS with C but sometimes there could be other conditions causing this but for many it is just a body adjusting. Good job for trippling your calories. Are you at a good range now for weight gain? I am not sure how low you got so that is something to look at to. Also do you eat every few hours cause that can help with digestion and look at foods that are hard on the stomach. Like for me beans are a no. I feel so uncomfortable but for you it may be a vegetable. It may not take away all the discomfort but can help.

Normal. The discomfort is normal. Eating more relieves it. As for the runs, I would see how much fibre you are eating. Too much fibre causes diarrhea.

OK - so this is normal! I've been having diarrhea (sorry if TMI) and I'm hoping it will stop. Should I experiment with new foods until this goes away, or stick with easily digestible ones like simple carbs and meats?

Thanks, I'm glad its not just me.

My stomach has been a little bit better today, so that's good :p

you can always try plain rice, and bananas... more of a generic solution to diarrhea, but it should help make things more comfortable while your body adjusts.  having some rice at the end of each meal makes a huge difference.

good luck!
