Anyone else having troubles curbing the candy cravings?

Quote  |  Reply

I've been doing pretty good lately, with the exception of the last few days!  I want a snack, but healthy snacks just don't seem to cut it! I want sugar!

I am still trying to be good about it, and have 10-20 m&m's which account for less than 100 calories, but I keep on craving something else.

Does anyone else deal with this, if so do you have any recommendations on how I can curb the craving. Thanx!

OH MY GOD YES!  i crave candy and sweets all the time.  Here are a few things I find to help satisfy the cravings.

-dark chocolate: 72% or higher.  anything lower just has way too many calories.  the dark stuff is actually not that high in calories and is actually good for you, (antioxidants).  just make sure to get the plain kind without any fillings, (that's where the calories are).

-sugar free chocolate pudding: 60 calories per cup.  sooo delicious, satisfying and decadent

-sugar free jello: 10 calories per cup.

-weight watchers popsicles: popsicle on the outside, ice cream on the inside and all only 60 calories.  sooo delicious.

hope this helps!

I love candy....sometimes I feel like i cant stop eating it.  When this happens I brush my teeth.  I don't like mixing my minty fresh mouth with the fruity flavours of candy.  I find this helps me.

Those are both great ideas. Thank you!

The pudding and popsicles sound great, will definitely have to try that!

Thank you both!  Laughing

Eating dark chocolate instead really works for me too. I also have a few meal bars or granola bars that I'll eat for a mid-afternoon snack if I'm craving a candy bar.

Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich (Peanut butter and chocolate are my fav) and they are only 150 cals.  When I'm craving like SUGAR I eat a handfull of jelly beans, still around 100 cals but does my sugar fix good!

I snack on those mini flavored marshmallows.  You can eat like 50 of them and it's only 90 or so calories.  I gave up all "bad sugar" (candy, cake, etc) for Lent and the marshmallows helped me survive.

I still have dark chocolate rabbits from Easter in my freezer. Today I wanted some chocolate so every so often I went and took a shaving off of it (hard to get much when it's a solid block) and it seems to help me with any cravings I may have!

yeah I still have cravings.. I got one today... and fixed it with a twix lol. I would usually eat the whole thing at once but I split it up throughout the day. as long as you dont go oveboard you can make room for treats.

If you don't have any cals to spare some good ideas are sugar free jello (5cals), sipping crystal light (5-10 cals), hot tea with sweetener, or sugar free hard candies (5cal) I have the mint chocolate chip icecream sugar free hard candies from baskin robins.. and they are freaking tasty. Oh, also icebreakers sour mints if you like sour.

I find it helpful with hard candy, since they take a while to consume, and in the case of Werther's caramel candy, only 20 cals =]

Slim fast has these peanut butter crunch bars that taste like butterfingers and the curves it for me :] They are 120 calories but have 15 minerals and vitamins 4g (6%) fat and 7% carbs. :]

I try to exercise it off before I eat it, if that makes sense.  Today, I planned to skip the gym, but I got a huuuge craving for ice cream, so I went and did 30 minutes on the elliptical (and burnt about 300 cals, give or take).  Sometimes I don't want the sugary thing when I'm done, and I'll eat something healthy to make up the cals.  Sometimes I do!  Tonight, I splurged and ate a cup of moose tracks frozen yogurt for the 300 cals I burned.

If it's late, try brushing your teeth or eat a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon.  It's weird, but they both seem to work for me.

I <3 sweets, too.  Good luck!

I forced myself to stay away from candy for 2 days.  After that the cravings went away.  But if I do have a piece of candy, it triggers something in my brain and I cannot stop thinking about candy.  So, what works for me is just staying away from it all together.  Tonight I decided to have a 1 oz. piece of extra dark chocolate and I've been talking myself out of eating more ever since.

I am the same...I have to stay away from the stuff. I think I am like a sugar/chocoaholic

If you like porridge (oatmeal), try skipping the milk and use water, then mix in some low cal hot chocolate powder and splendor to taste. It's gooey, warm and sooo yummy it should smack ur craving on the head!!

YES, I LOVE the sweet stuff! I fight with cravings on a daily basis. I find that spearmint certs or big red cinnamon chewing gum both work to deliver the sugar I want and I am pretty satisfied with using just that. However, on the really tough days where I know I am going to give in....I do a 30-45 minute walk on the elliptical or treadmill BEFORE allowing myself to eat this. Like someone else said, after working out, most of the time I am over the sweet stuff and opt not to partake at least until much later in the day ....ok so waiting until just before bed. Hmm...that could be a lot of my problem with yo-yo weight...

God, those cravings were making me crazy! I would eat 10-20 pieces od M&M's, but after that I couln't stop thinking about getting more, and more and more!

I'm trying to take a break from eating chocolate and stuff like that, because, how it was already said, eating this stuff just make me want to eat  more.

I bougth some jello, and put some pieces of strawberries and raspberries in it! It's delicious and It completely helps when I have some crave for sweets. Or I eat banana and apple with cinnamon. It's also very good!

I'm trying not to eat things with that high fructose corn syrup anymore, because I read (and people told me) that it is terrible for you, and that triggers your craves for more sugar.

what helps me with my sugar cravings (and my energy level) is drinking a smoothie every morning with almond milk (or soy milk), raw cacao (raw chocolate), maca and cacao nibs. I add a little bit of raw agave (tablespoon) and sometimes a third of a banana (or frozen fruit of some kind) to make it sweet and it's the most delicious breakfast (or snack) and curbs sugar cravings. It's also really healthy for you...antioxidants, etc. These are raw superfoods...you'll feel great and instead of getting that post sugar crash you'll be buzzing all day. You can get all of these food items at a whole foods market.

I also eat a crunchy apple or drink water when i want sweets...that really helps...

I just eat fruits (: Especially orange, they're so sweet and so yummy and good, plus the vitamin C is also good for you. I cut out candy a long time ago, the only time I ever would eat it is if I had no food around me and needed a lot of extra calories, other than that, I eat fruits like oranges and grapes, the natural sugars help me along, I've also seen low calorie, no sugar fruit candies which also look good, not to mention the 5 calorie Jell-O (:
