Maintaining

Does anyone feel that this site gives too low of an allowance?

Okay, so I'm maintaining. I'm 5' 6'', around 119-121 lbs, and 22 years old.

I lift free weights 3 times a week for about 45 minutes, followed by 20 minutes cardio. The other days I do cardio for at least 1/2 an hour, and I take at least one, sometimes two, days off a week.  I also bike everywhere since I don't have a car. But I'm a student so even though I'm pretty active, I do spend a few hours a day sitting down.

The site says I should maintain on around 1800 cals.

However, when I eat around 1800 cals, I always end up getting up at like 2 a.m and binge eating until I hit around 2100.

So, is the site wrong? Should I be eating more than it says? I have a pretty low level of body fat. I'm not sure the exact number but I'm getting it checked tomorrow. Other sites say that I should be eating over 2000.

Do you guys have any thoughts on this, does the site seem to be too low of a burn for you?

My thought would be to do some empirical "research." If you "always" get up and eat to hit about 2100 cal/day but you haven't gained any weight, you're probably fine at that calorie level. This site's tools are very useful, but everyone is different and on "maintenance" I would trust how you feel more than what a calculator spits out. If you can eat around 2100 and not gain, then I would say go for it, don't starve yourself down to 1800 if you don't need to.

yes because at 5'6 and 102 lbs. i maintain on 2200-2400ish calories a day sedentary there is no way i can live off of 1500

1800 is for sedentary. 2300 is for moderately active which you describe. I think the calculator is consistent with the other results you have found. Here's a good one to use as well: http://www.phord.com/cc/?m=US&q=f-22-164- 60.45-1.55-0-0-20

At 22 your metabolism is working much faster and much harder than mine does at 41 (unless you have a medical condition that prevents you from losing weight) I think this site offers guidelines and averages for people that are accurate for the most part. It sounds like what you are doing is working if your not continuing to lose and good for you for getting there!
