It sounds silly really, I can't EAT anything processed - I have to make all my food- it makes socializing very difficult. Anyone out there have any recipes to share or ideas -

Your allergies sound a lot worse than mine.  I'm allergic to all fresh fruits and veggies.  I can eat lettuce raw, but almost everything else has to be cooked.  Canned stuff is alright because they have to heat it before they can it.

I can't imagine not being able to eat wheat or corn.  Still, you can eat bananas, watermelon, strawberries, carrots, celery and all those other yummy things.  :)

you can use rice flour instead fo wheat.  in a lot of chinese food markets they have rice noodles, instead of wheat.  try quinoa (instead of couscous or bulgur, which are wheat): yummy, cook quicker than brown rice, a has lots of protein and minerals, and is a whole grain.  I'm a big rice lover, so stir fries could be a good option for you;

im not really allegic to anything but morphine ( so if im dying, then im screwed, lol)

but i know a few people who are wheat intolerant ( i feel i am a bit too) and a few people who are celiac.

Life for them is livible, but you have to make sure you read labels, and such. agian, you can make gluten free bread, eat beans, poatoes, and starchy veggies to cover your carbs.

Karozel: is your allergy a cellulase deficency? the enzyme that digests fiber. since cooked stuff is softened? i dunno , just thought i shoot that out there.

@dartinton:  No, my fruit and veggie allergies are due to the proteins in the foods that are modified when heated.  It's called "Oral Allergy Syndrome" and is really due to my allergies to lots of weeds, grasses, and trees.

When I eat raw fruits or veggies my mouth (tongue, and lips) itch, my eyes, ears and nose itch and I can get swelling in my throat.   The last time I had waterlemelon I lost my voice for 4 hours and was worries that my throat might swell up so much that I couldn't breathe.

Making your own food is a blessing, not a curse! Allow your social life to revolve around your kitchen - invite friends over; make snacks to take with you to outdoor events; host potluck parties.

Socialise in non-food contexts, like a poetry reading or art gallery, or a dance club, at the gym, or volunteering in your neighborhood. Food makes socialising easy, but it isn't the only way to enjoy the company of your friends. Though you can't go to bars and restaurants you can do so many other things that are fun - and probably more active and rewarding.
