Has anyone ever tried to just diet or cut calories and lost weight without any exercise? the reason i ask is because when i had my baby three months ago i had a c-section and even thought its been a while i get pain around my abdominal area when i try to work out so my plan is to wait on working out and just diet alone.

Yes, you can lose weight on diet alone.  However, it leaves much less room for error.

Set a safe calorie goal that will ensure you have a calorie defict each day, regardless of exercises.  Don't exceed it.

As far as waiting on the activity, this will just make it harder to get back into the habit down the road.  Start with some light walking and build up your endurance.

it's possible but you won't get results as fast and you really have to stick to a strict diet.
