Anyone ever heard of The Fat Flush Plan
Reason: Moved to Weight Loss Forum
I did it! It was the hardest diet I've ever done!!!! It was bland, flavorless food and not much of it! It had me eating alot of herbs and psyllium and cranberry juice and the taste of flax seed oil still grosses me out! I lost weight on it though but not as much as I expected since it was torture!
Thanks Kristi, I take it you would not recommend! I have 130#s to lose and have been excercising and watching what I eat religiously for almost 2 months and have only lost 6#s--I'm looking for something to kick start my weight loss and keep me motivated!
magnbaby: how many calories do you consume a day and how much do you excercise? you probably should have lost more than 6 lbs by now. :\
Just use science to lose weight. It may seem strange but let me refer you to the "three hour diet" from military.com: http://www.military.com/military-fitness/nutr ition/three-hour-diet
It's essentially a low fat, mid carb, high protein diet in which you eat small meals every three hours or so throughout your day, timing your higher carb intake meals after workouts/physical exertion and your fattier meals earlier so you have the whole day to burn them off. These small meals are easier on the body, so you have time to burn off that blood sugar and calorie intake.
Also read his article called Lean Down Diet http://www.military.com/military-fitness/nutr ition/get-lean-diet which is very similar. This guy has a lot of nice nutrition and fitness articles for would-be Soldiers trying to get in shape for the Army (like me) but it's also good for anyone who wants to lose weight in a healthy and smart way without feeling like they're starving all the time. He names a lot of nice substitutions too.
He also mentions something important: WATER WATER WATER. You retain water weight when you're dehydrated by not drinking enough, so keep hydrated and drink a big 8 oz glass with every little meal.
Hope that helped, the military.com advice coupled with motivation has helped me lose over 20 lbs in the past 2 months and now with added exercise even more!
Thanks so much Pezzle. This sounds much more reasonable that drinking flaxseed and primrose oil etc. I will give it a try! Much appreciation!
I am consuming 1750-1800 calories a day and excercise 5-6 times a week doing elliptical for 30-45mins and 20 mins of strength training. I weigh (according to the new scale 264 am 5'4, female---should I cut down more?? I agree I should have lost more by now--personal trainer says the standard, "muscle weighs more than fat and you are building fat" . . . Any help is appreciated!
Few questions:
A) How long has this "wall' been there? Sometimes it takes time to kickstart metabolism and sometimes you hit a wall. Building muscle whilst losing fat, no budge in weight but a possible budge in size.
B) What foods are in those 1800 calories per day? I'm sure you're eating well but I'm curious. Do you eat before you go to bed?
Pezzle,
I started excercising/watching what I eat in April, lost 5 lbs first month and 1 more pound so far this month. Typical day eating is quaker weight control oatmeal and 6oz fresh oj for breakfast, luna bar for midmorn snack, brown rice, and beans for lunch and salmon/tilapia or chicken w/veggie and couscous/grain for dinner. I got so discouraged today--just finished stuffing my face w/taco bell! I just bought a new scale (healthometer) which shows my weight is actually 10#s higher than my old scale said it was---very discouraging. I did manage to make it to the gym and did 30 mins on elliptical and 20 mins of lower body strength training but am just so frustrated!!
Julie, thanks, I will try to find info on this cleanse and look into it!
I am postmenopausal 52 year old woman started at 261 on April 2nd and have lost 16lbs since then. I am also 2 inches taller than you. I mention postmenopuase becase that makes it harder so I wonder if maybe your calories are too high?.
I have not started strenth training yet - wanted to solidly establish cardio first so am walking about 60 minutes a day. Strength will come at about 20lbs.
I am eating around 1400-1500 per day. Shooting for an average defecit of 1000-1100 calories per day between burn meter and input.
I do a fat flush/ liver detox that sounds similair. But i only do the juice fast portion and then only one day. I've found that my appetiete is reduced by this in general.
I'd echo kristi-poos comments. I tried to Fat Flush plan years ago, and found it to be incredibly restrictive, basically a binge waiting to happen. And happen it did. You'd probably lose weight if you could follow it, but I couldn't. "Torture" actually seems pretty accurate on this one. The only element I kept from it is flavoring my drinking water with unsweetened cranberry juice on occasion.
Scalebeater,
I thought I should have lost more as well. I will try cutting my calories more, thanks for the input.
