Does anyone know the answer to this?
Can someone explain to me, the benefits to drinking these newer "low carb" beers? Example: Sleeman clear or Molson Ultra etc etc?? These "light" beers contain approx 88 calories and 2.5 grams carbs.
How is this better than regular beer? do the less carbs mean less amounts of converted sugars to blood stream????
Summer time is here with many pig roasts and parties coming up. Beer is my drink of choice and i'm trying to make the best choices possible.
Thanks :)

No, this "low carb" beer labeling is simply a marketing technique that fits into society's latest diet craze....in reality all "light" beers are low-carb for the most part.
If you want to make the wise calorie choice when you drink alcohol, you are doing the right thing and choosing light beer. I typically choose Michelob Ultra. White wine is decent as well if you are just having a cocktail with friends. Red wine is good but the serving size is substantially smaller than what people typically pour.
I would DEFINITELY steer clear from any frozen drinks (pina coladas, margaritas, etc) and if you choose hard liquor, go for vodka/club soda with lemon or lime.
I hope this helps!
I'm not sure that is entirely correct.
I look at brewers websites to get carb grams on coors light, bud light, canadian light etc etc and the carb content was definitely higher than 2.5 grams!
Again, this is a beer thing. i only drink beer. Period.

The below has been taken from the University of Berkely California Wellness Institute
Beer, too, contains carbohydrates. The new low-carb beers are not new at all, though this type of beer does indeed have fewer carbs. Low-carb beers are simply the old light beers with a new label and ad campaign. The old Miller Lite has 96 calories and 3.2 grams of carbs in 12 ounces. The "low-carb" Michelob Ultra has 96 calories and 2.6 grams of carbs. Coors Lite has 102 calories and 5 grams of carbs. The differences are tiny—hardly worth mentioning. In contrast, a regular beer has 13 grams of carbs and 150 calories.
I cannot the remember the source but it was some famous dietitian who reminded us that alcohol is the first energy burned by the body. A real metabolism buster as as soon as its introduced, classic digesting is slowed while this energy source is used first.

Depending on your personal tastes, you can get either Becks Light or MGD 64. Becks Light is 63 calories and MGD 64 is 64 calories. Both also have lower alcohol %.
Obviously im not condoning binge drinking, but small differences over a beer or (ahem) several, can add up.
