does anyone know how to calculate treadmill calories?

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone, so I started using the treadmill to burn extra calories but I do not know how to figure out how much I am burning. I do not have the type that you can program in your exact height and weight so I know that I cannot trust the numbers since they are for an average wieghted man/woman which I think they consider 150 pounds. I an 5"2 and 115 pounds so does anyone know how I can convert what I read as "calories burned" to the actual amount burned. For example if it says I burned 4oo, how much did I really burn? I know that it is going to be less than 400!!

Just enter the speed and time in the Activity Log calculator on this site. Search for "treadmill" and it will provide a variety of speeds to choose from.

It automatically uses your current height and weight. In fact the calories burned that are listed on a treadmill are overly optimistic even if you were 5'8" and 150 lbs, so ignore that part altogether.

you can either change your weight on the treadmill, which will still be inaccurate or you can enter your speed into an online calorie calculator.

what is your goal? it seems that you're already at a healthy weight so i hope that you're not trying to lose.

Well I am 21 and gained weight over the last couple of years so I really do want to get back to like 107. But maintaining now is fine for short term goal. I just dont want to continue gaining because that would not make me too happy!!

never mind I found it thanks!!
