does anyone know what kind and what the name of this cheese is??

ok so this cheese is a plaited cheese its white and quiet hard and salty if you eat it once bought but your suppose to cut it into bits and soak it in warm water to soften it after thats done it becomes a bit elastic like mozzarella i think its fresh mozzarella before its processed im not quiet sure cos ive never had fresh mozzaerlla before but its texture is quiet the same does anyone know the name of this so called cheese? i have seen them in lots of middle eastern food shops.

A mozzarella cheese made from water buffalo milk?

I know the cheese...we have it here in the Middle East and in Arabic we call it 'Mjaddaleh' which means 'plaited' cheese. I do not know any other name for it. I do not know its origin or how it is made either....I guess that was not very helpful

Mjaddaleh I have seen that type of Mozzarella cheese in the Italian markets.

yes! now i remember thats what it was called when i bought it from an syrian goods store. In turkish we call it örgü peyniri but i really wanted to know the common known name. thanks heaps sireenb and buggyhair:)
