Anyone know of a Workout Tracker

Quote  |  Reply
Hi there. I love being able to track things and see my progress. Probably why I love CC.

I'm looking for a free on-line workout tracker. Something I can record minutes spent doing things at the gym... like cycling, running, walking, swimming, stepping. And also record weights and reps for strength training on different machines. All this so that I can track it and increase it every couple of weeks etc..

Anyone aware of such a beast?

No, but I'll keep an eye on this post in case someone does. That'd be useful :)
Ah yes.. that would be handy!!
Maybe make your own on Excel?  You can do your own charts and trend lines....
Not sure about the weight lifting thing - but my college class we have a sheet we use to log and I imagine you could make up a spread sheet on excel.

For Cardio I do use "polarpersonaltrainer.com" but you have to have a polar heart rate monitor to use the site but its free.  I log all my work out times and heart rates and stuff.  YOu can check it out even if you don't have one of their monitors to see if its something you are looking for.

I created one myself that could be the way I wanted. You can check it out here:

I have Excel spreadsheets where I track my weight and my measurements (and BMI and BF%).  I keep track of my mileage and time from my treadmill workouts and I record the number of weight sessions I've done.  I have some monthly entries at the bottom for my average numbers from this site -- calories per day, and macro breakdown (fat, carbs, protein, etc.)

Lots of pretty graphs and I can keep track of how many workouts I've done and how long they are.  I can also see whether I'm improving in my running.  It also tells me how my body is responding.

I keep a written workout log with my weight training info in it.  Which workout I'm doing and what the layout is (sets, reps and amount of weight) and also how it feels... whether I should increase next time, or if something is really hard.  It helps next time I try to do the workout to remind me of what I did last time and whether I need to change something.

Yeah that's right Karozel. I've added the "intensity" field for workout too so I know the next time I do the same exercise how much weight/time I used but also how it felt. If I logged 100% as intensity, I would probably keep the exercise level to the same till my intensity decrese to around 90-80% then add weight or reps.

I try to stay at 90% though because I love high-reps instead of crushing low reps.

Runnersworld.com has a training log I use - it doesn't have any tools specifically for weights/machines, but you can add strength training with notes and other info.

@kijvyn.  I'm following NROL4W, so a lot of it is laid out for me as far as what to do, and sets and reps.  Otherwise I would be clueless as I'm still new to the weights thing.   But it's nice to know what weight I used last time, or for things like step-ups that I have advanced from stepping onto the step (not hard) to stepping from the step onto the bench (tough), and now stepping directly onto the bench (I don't think I could "step" any higher as it is basically just above my knee, lol)

Also for things like crunches.  I started on the floor -- not too hard, moved to the ball, and then the ball with my feet on the bench, now on the ball with feet on bench and arms extended over my head.  I even tried with a 5# dumbbell last time, but it was too much and I had to drop it before I could do 10 crunches that way.  Too bad I gave away my 1# and 3# dumbbells.

@karozel: Yes you are right, a tracker simply "track" what you do. You need to have a training program created for you for better result. I think the best is to work with a trainer and use the tracker to better know what you are doing.

you might check out fitday.com  there is a free portion that will allow you to track exercise

try gyminee.com

i actually started using that site first(i am a newbie on calorie counter). its quite similiar but more focused on exercise than dieting....

Yeah. Map my fitness isn't just for walking/running. You can enter any form of exercise and they've got a fairly extensive list of gym activities to choose from. And you can add as many notes as you wish to your entry.

Body for life has spreadsheets

http://bodyforlife.com/exercise/journals.asp

Also includes food logs and goals.

Their is also a NROWL4W" log but you have to have the book to download as its password protected.
