Anyone ever do the Les Mills BODYPUMP?

Quote  |  Reply
i was wondering if anyone has tried the BODYPUMP and if so, how often should you do this class. i did one class and it kicked my tail so hard that i think that i now want to do it at least 3 times a week.  i was also wondering if anyone knows if the BODYPUMP class is also for cardio or if you should do cardio in addition to this class on the same day.  Thanks!!!

I am completely new to this,  I have done body pump twice.  I was told to try to do it 3 times a week.  In addition, you should do cardio.  I do a spin class a couple times a week and kickboxing a couple times a week.  At my gym they usually have a cardio class right before or right after BP with the same instructor. I did a step class followed by BP, but I didn't like step.  I think there are some opinions out there that there is a certain order for doing weights and cardio, but I don't remember what I have read. Sorry.  But I am with you, BP is awesome!  Good Luck!

Hi yes, i love the les mills range tonight im trying to get back serious & doing the body attack followed by the body pump. i would reccomend doing some cardio as well as the pump if your trying to burn off some fat.

 good luck

Hey, I have taken this course but I got over enthusiastic early on and pushed myself a bit too hard.....I think you should start off going once a week for a couple weeks and then twice and then three times, that way you dont push youself too hard and end up benched! I think all the Les Mills courses are great........but since were asking questions here....do you know if there is a site that lists how many calories are burned for the different classes?

Found it on Les Mills.com

Calorie expenditure for an average woman (whatever that is, I think 140 lb woman, I always count less since I'm only 5 feet tall)

Body attack: 800 calories

Body jam: 660 calories (definitely worth it)

Body pump: 390 calories (up to 600 for those that work super hard)

Of course, it all depends on how hard you're pushing yourself but it gives you an idea.

You can do Pump 3x week. Every other day is all they recommend. You can take it on the same day as another class, depending on the class. I do it on the same day as Jam, no problem; I use Jam as my reward for making it through Pump, which isn't my fav. I find it tough to do it on same day as Attack, as they're too hard on the same muscle groups. I think I could do it on the same as Step, at this level of fitness, but I've not had that option (they're not offered on the same day around here)
