i'd like to meet people with similar goals who would be interested in keeping each other going and encourage exercising and healthy eating. I'm going to weight myself on thursdays (tomorrow!)

I'm really looking forward to making positive changes to my life! let me know if your interested.

Hi, I'd like to join this challenge!  I started CC this past spring, then found Zumba, joined a gym that offered this class, signed up with a personal trainer, signed up for a couch-to-5K program, started swimming again, strained lots of leg muscles in my running efforts  but completed the 5K, lost 25 pounds and -15 inches and have been stuck for the last couple of months.

I'm 48 and exercise regularly now, in the a.m. before work I stop by the gym and do the elliptical, bike or a running type elliptical machine for 60 minutes, swim laps for 30 minutes M/W/F during the lunch hour and do circuit training 3 times a week in the evenings.  My gym bag is always stowed in the trunk and ready for the gym.  I'm working my exercise around a strained Achilles and hope that I can return to running within a month.  My goal for 2009 is to try a sprint triathlon.

There were several events this year that motivated me to get my sorry butt moving.

  1. I will be 49 in October...my mom died at this age and I want to be in the best possible shape I can be when I turn 49...in typical fashion I've procrastinated until the last minute and am working furiously to achieve this goal. ;)
  2. My 30th HS reunion was in July as was a family wedding...I lost 25 pounds for these events, but have been plateaued since.
  3. My husband went to second shift...ah ha she says...I'll go at this Biggest Loser style since my evening routine was now wide open.

Welcome to the challenge, Di. Never heard of Zumba so had to look it up. Looks like fun but it's probably been 20 years since I've done any kind of dance aerobics. Too advanced for beginners or do-able? You do MUCH more than I do workout wise. I'm trying to be good by walking at least 30 minutes every day!

Zumba fits all levels...it's just fun, and the more fit you become, the more you can get out of it.  When I first did the classes in early spring my face would turn bright red...that was how out of shape I was.  I still sweat buckets.  Since my Achilles is strained I've been avoiding Zumba, you twist and pivot a lot and that could injur my Achilles further.  You should definitely give it a go, you burn lots of calories.

Good morning team, I did it lost 7lbs and keeping (trying) to drink the WATER Vanillini, do we weigh in once a week?

And, then I will work on my next goal of 25lbs.

di_p I will look up Zumba later today sounds like a great work out.

Happy Thursday everyone!! Another decent week for me. A lot of stress going on with my son, so I wasn't sure I'd be able to stick to it, but here is the figures:

last week 197

this week 194.5

That's 2.5 lb for this week and 6.5 since starting this challenge! My mini-goal was 194 by Aug 31 so I will check my weight on sunday (even though its not our regular weigh day) to see if that last half pound fell off by then!

This week my goals are gonna be:

--increase protein to get my pie chart where I want it (20/30/50)

--limit sodium. This is hard, because I very rarely add salt to anything, its just so many foods have sodium in them. I think the key will be using as many fresh foods as I can with my limited time schedule.

What will you guys be especially concentrating on this week? good luck everybody!!!

Sounds like a great plan SFL.  First, I am getting ready for my morning walk just doing some stretches right now, and, I have some blueberry's and cottage cheese here for breakfast. I haven't planned out lunch, my lunch is my big meal and dinner I usually have a small salmon or chicken salad. Sometimes just a bowl of beans.

I did OK on my water yesterday need to work a lil harder on that commitment.

228 today. No loss, but it's "that time" of the month, so hopefully the lack of change is due to water. We shall see. o.0

water is my secret weapon.  ( :

Thursday July 30 158.8

Fri Aug 1 157.6 water weight

Sun Aug 3 156.6

Sept 2: 155.2  (-3.6)

I'm just checking in to let you know that I'm gonna skip the weigh in for this week. I have had a colonoscopy this week (and the 'cleansing' that precedes it, and the retention afterwards) and my body is swinging up and down pretty harshly. I would assume it will stabalize a bit by next thursday and i will do an official weigh in then. I just don't wanna report either a false high or a false low so I am calling it a "pass" for this week.

Good luck to the rest of you!!

sfl ---  see you back soon, even better!

161.4 today after 162.8 yesterday.

how is everyone??????   (:

Just got back from vacation!

Before I left I was down to 226. The scale's reading another 228 today, though! too much delicious vacation food. :( It's been 228 for a while. Maybe I need to try changing something about my routine!

I'll stick to normal for a few days and see if it's water or if it starts to come off again. If not? Time to try something new!

Weigh in: 226.

SLOW PROCESS. I'm getting really, really discouraged. I have to change something I'm doing because my loss is so small it's hardly noticable from one week to the next.

Maybe I'll cut my calories back another 200, or expand my exercise routine?

I'll let you know how it goes.

I would love to join this group, even though it's late in the game.  So, here's my stats:
