Anyone out there looking to drop 100 lbs?!?
I am aiming at losing 100 lbs if not 120lbs. Anyone else out there needing to drop a significant amount of weight? If so hit me up. I know the large amount of pounds that you're looking to shed can be overwhelming so let's stick together. Lets lose lots of pounds together.

I promise promise promise that I'm not ignoring any of you. It's going to take me awhile to get caught up with everyone so I'll try and get a mass response done on my lunch break. I was in bed for the last 2 days and instructed by my dr. that I can't do any exercise for atleast 2 weeks. I have torn muscles or ligaments or something in my back and so I have to try not to use any of the muscles in my back which is near to impossible. So it's for sure a bummer because I was loving working out and all the goals I've set. So I'm just going to lower my calories by 300 to help compensate for the lack of working out and just watch everything I eat. Good luck to everyone. I'll get to all of you this afternoon including all the newbies.
That's terrible! It is so frustrating when you get into the grove of exercising and you have to stop because of an injury. Then you have to get yourself going again. Well, I know you will do it. You are really motivated. Just try to be a little more careful.
Slainna- Our goal is actually for the month of April. If you don't want to log your weight every week you can just let me know how much you lost before the month's over.
Neverwilluknw- ALWAYS!!! Have healthy eating options at home. I cook in advance so I always have something in the freezer I can just throw in the microwave. When you're emotionally eating just ask if it's really worth it. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.
Jennmary001- Swim lots of laps during the summer. I'm from Phoenix, Arizona and I spent my summers at the pool or hitting the gym at night. good luck. You seem very dedicated.
Laurienkids2- remodeling is definitely a work out. I'm sure your arms, legs and back are that much stronger. Good luck getting back on your regimen.
lonestarpenny- Thanx for all the encouragement. Another idea when it comes to eating is to visualize when you're eating that your stomach is the size of a quart of milk. Just think of what would comfortably fit in that quart and what would make it burst.
ka2007- atleast you had lots of protein with your night snack. It could've been all sugar so that's still progress.
Sas101- welcome. we're doing a weight loss challenge together. we're all trying to lose 3 lbs a week to meet our monthly goal. The current weight loss total will be posted and add your weight loss for the week to it. thanks.
Beckylp03- Just add it to the last running total number and repost it with your weight loss included. Someone has mentioned doing a graph so we can visualize our success. I'll keep you posted.
Skorosac- Way to GO!!! 5 lbs that's awesome. I'm sure you feel 5 lbs lighter. awesome.
Chicagofire60- Welcome to our thread. Good positive thinking. We here have a goal of losing 636 lbs or more for the month of April. Log your weight loss once a week. Just add your weight loss to the running total. If you have any questions let me know.
Mdillard0306- Congrats on the weight loss. Help us reach our goal. Log your weight loss once a week with us.
Tj_s- Good luck. You'll find lots of info here. If you have any questions let me know. We love to support each other. Help us reach our goal of 636 lbs for the month of April. Log it once a week.
Ladytrekki- No worries just weigh in when you can.
Slenderbender- Just stay strong and keep losing. Even at 62 you can be smokin hot! Good luck.
Mmc7891024- I feel you on the carrot cake. My fav. Luckily for me I'm a vegan now so I choose not to have it for personal reasons. Try making a healthier version of carrot cake at home and give away a bunch of it so you're not tempted to eat it all. Or you could make carrot spice muffins which are yummy and don't have the frosting. ( i know it's the best part but not good for you ).
Pooknood- You're more than welcome here. Hopefully in 6 months we'll be the need to lose 60 lbs. Good luck!
Mommalori- Awesome on losing 3 lbs. Way to go!!! woo hoo! Keep up the good work. That's great that your hubby supports you. It really helps.
Majicgrll- When you're in pain it makes it so hard to work out. Good luck. Just try to focus mentally and it'll make things a lot easier. When I don't think I can do it any longer I just channel all my energy and focus on my goal and I make it through it. I used to hate drinking water but I love it now. Try and make healthy decisions. Just the food will help you lose a significant amount of weight.
Tammyb1995- Thanx for keeping up with everyone since I've been out of commission. You're doing a great job staying positive and focused. Good job!
Magikrose- Think of us as glue. We're stuck with you.
Longwaytogo- I for sure think eating more than 1000 calories is necessary. I was sworn to only eating 1000 to 1200 calories my whole life and it's terrible. Unless you weigh 100 pounds and you never move I could never see this being healthy. Even as a vegan I eat way more calories than that.
Maria1801- I feel you on the close to 300 number. I saw 180 and sobbed and freaked and than got off my lazy butt and did something about it. Let's get off those final inches that we find lingering on us. Let's Kick butt.
Neverwilluknw- You're exactly right. You can eat the junk as long as you're willing to work it out and off. Congrats on the 2 lbs.
Smileyman- Way to go. You're making smart decisions and preparing your own food with healthier substitutes is great! Good job!
Our weight loss total for the week so far is 69.2 pounds. I know not everyone has weighed in yet. Please log your numbers so we can reach our goal!!!
So here's my little piece of wisdom for the day. When we are nervous or depressed or feeling inadequate it's because we are being selfish. We are consuming ourselves with trying to be better or greater or thinner or... than everyone or anything. Try to just focus on the right now and be the best that you can be. Try doing something nice for someone or if you have someone in your life that needs encouragement try to help them. I know that I feel 10x better and stronger because I'm encouraging and helping all y'all here. I feel empowered! It's amazing how great you feel when you're helping others. It's truly helped me stay focused this whole time. Also, continually educate yourselves. Try to pick up a book that will help you with your goals. I had not read in so long that I forgot how much I love it and how much it helps me. Surround yourselves with positives not negatives. Good luck everyone!
I've got a ? for all of you.. How do you lose weight with out losing it in your breast? Since I've been losing I can tell I've lost a little in that area and I do NOT want to lose my size... Any suggestions?
I want to join this thread--I am not doing well--I HATE HATE HATE to exercise--I know I need to and I am going to try.
I have had a very bad 2 days--eaten at the high end of my calorie limit. Today, I ended up with 2000 plus calories. (I think it was emotional eating--upset with husband over stupid stuff....)
Here are my stats:
SW: 276
CW: 271
GW: 148
I am totally overwhelmed at the amount of weight I have to lose. My husband has lost over 50lbs, but he runs and loves it. I have one pronated foot and it makes even walking painful on my whole right side. But I am determined to join you all and be very positive that I am going to lose this weight. We must do it together....
ddparker, you can do it - we can all do it!
Any chance you could swim or cycle? - I could see where doing something painful would be a great disincentive - is there anything that can help with your foot like an orthotic?
We are all up there with you weightwise, and I have to say - I am only getting started but I used [about 30 years ago] think of nothing to hop on my bicycle and ride 60 miles. Since I have started back walking, in only a few days it is starting to feel good
Take your time with the excercise by going slowly - and do a little bit more every day.
You CAN do this WE can do this TOGETHER!

At least onece a week I read about some study or other that finds that this or that disease can be prevented by being at a healthy weight and/or regular exercise. I am beginning to think that exercise is the miracle drug. Too bad it is more work than taking a pill.
Bottom line: We HAVE to exercise. It doesn't have to be at a gym. It doesn't even have to be an 'exercise'. Housework, like vacuuming or moping counts. We just have to find something to do several times a week that gets us working our muscles and gets our heartrates up. The challenge is to find something we like doing. And the payoff is great. You have more energy, you sleep better, you might even lose weight! So, instead of thinking of what you can't do, think of something you can do.
Hi all,
I want to thank all of you who were so wonderfully supportive after my little freak out a couple of days ago. Longwaytogo, tammyb, lonestarpenny, neverwilliknw, smileyman, and of course jerichocheyenne. Thank you Thank you, THANK YOU!
I live alone, and I have not really told anyone that I am "dieting." So when i had that slip up (honestly the first in almost 4 months) I totally did not know where to turn. So thank you for your support. I suppose, that I really have looked at this journey as a lifestlye change, and so I have not really allowed myself a cheat day on that basis, figuring that if this is going to be my new lifestyle then I need to get out of the habit of these "bad" foods.
I definiately got right back on the "wagon" the next day, exercised more, and stuck to veggies, and complex carbs the next day. So no worries, it has not completely derailed me, but at that moment when I thought about what I just ate, and the fat that I had just put onto my hips, I freaked.
I have been concerned about my deficits, and I know that I am on the high end, especially because I have a fairly active job, but I have had such conflicting information about what my actual BMI is, it has been calculated anywhere from 2100, to 3200 that I got a little frustrated, and just decided to have a target of 1200, but not beat myself up if I went slightly over (as long as it was not with, well, carrot cake and cheetos ;( ) So thank you for the concern, and I will definiately reconsider. I know this question has been asked 8 million times, but how do I know what my BMI really is?
Anyway, I absolutely love having this place to be supported, and hopefuly to support others in similar boats. Thank you a million times, and please always feel free to contact me if you ever want someone to talk to. :)

jeri: every week is no good for me because, since my accident some weeks i have edema so bad i swell up like a water balloon and can't get an accurate reading. i'll post em as i get em
I am with you ddparker, I am also overwhelmed with how much I have to lose, and I am sorry but I am way to uncomfortable sharing my stats. I will share my result numbers though, this is my 1st week, and am down 4 lbs and am totally happy with this.
I have really been watching my calories and logging everything. I feel that this is helping me to be more accountable.
You all are doing a great job, and I really appreciate being able to log on here and find positive people that are going through things that are very similar to me. I haven't started a formal exercise plan yet, but I am trying to just focus on moving more. This is a life style change, and we are all going to be better off for doing this!
Are any of you following specific plans? I am trying not to call this a "diet" as this isn't something I am only going to do for a short period of time, it is something I must do for life time.
OK last weekend i was BAD but this week I got right back on the wagon and I have a 1.5 lb loss...so I am not going to complain...but as I have said before my weekends are bad...so I have made a vow to myself to do better so I know next week will show a bigger loss, but I am so happy I did not gain...1.5 I'll take...
good luck to the rest of ya...way to gojerichocheyenne on responding to everyone...hope your back is getting better....
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

I am using the caluclators in this site and shooting for target calories but adjusting for excercise - I like that I can track my protein, sodium, activitied, etc. and it grades the quality of what I eat and shoot for a A every day [ not sure of the grading criteria though-I think a small block of cheddar should be better than a nutrition bar full of sugar alcohols]
Yesterday was a very active day:
The other calculator in the link by clharr was very close - I would have walked away with a 1380 plan instead of a 1430 to loose 2lbs a week. That site says it is ok to loose 1% of your body weight a week - for me that means 2.6lbs would be safe. but not more.
By the time I got my calories logged It was at bedtime and have LERD (GERD but higher) and did not want to eat before going to bed.
Target 1450, Ate 2210, Burn Meter 3800 -
I think I really should have had a little more but at least a victory in terms of choice making. Yesterday I was driving home from an outdoor activity - drove 2 hours, walking around 4 hours and, instead of stopping for fast food I stopped at a convenience store and got a whole wheat sandwich with turkey and cheese and no mayo. Did get some chips but got the smallest ones I could find - was craving salt. Normally that would have been a single-cheese, fries and a diet from wendys ............
Neverwilluknw- Sorry sista but when you lose weight everything shrinks. My girls have shrank too. Oh well. I told my hubby that when I lose all my weight he'll have to pay to have them redone. lol.
Ddparker- I promise the exercise will get easier. If you're foot gives you pain try seated exercises for the upper body using dumbells. Also you could give yoga a try. It's really good at strengthening your core. Weight lifting burns a lot of calories so if you can't do cardio give that a try. You can even have your hubby help you out with it if you feel lost at first.
Longwaytogo- I love cycling. I was taking spin classes 3x a week before I hurt my back. I'll hopefully return to them in 2 weeks.
clharr- I feel 10x healthier since I started working out and living a healthy lifestyle. The flu was runnin rapid around me and I never got it. yay!
Mmc7891024- That's what I love about this place to is that I can talk to people about what I'm going through. Since I recently moved I don't have any friends yet. My hubby supports me but he's never been overweight and doesn't understand the struggle. I would atleast eat 2000 calories a day. You'd be amazed at how healthy you can eat and reach 2000. I eat all healthy foods all day long. I have something in my body every hour and my metabolism is running hard now. I'm never starving.
Slainna- If you can only weigh in once a month that's fine. Just hit me with double digits. j/k. no pressure. Good luck!
Tj_s- I don't need to know your exact weight. It can be rather freeing when you finally release that. You can finally let it go and know that you'll never be there again. You'll be able to when you're ready so no pressure. congrats on the 4 lbs.
Tammyb1995- congrats on the 1.5. A loss is a loss. Good job for staying on track. My back is still hurting but I truly hope it gets better. I'm tired of not being able to exercise.
Longwaytogo- good job on making healthy decisions. I hope you had a wonderful LONG walk.
Everyone Else- dont be strangers. we want to hear from you.
I lost another 4 pounds this week!!!!!!!! I also started playing tennis with my wife 3 days a week. It is not pretty but I get a ggod sweat going and heart rate up. I am still amazed at how much food I get to eat to reach my 2000 cal aday goal. Goes to show you if you know how to eat proper and what to eat we can all do this. Have a great weekend everyone.![]()
All, I posted a thread for folks who have ALREADY made it to that 100lb (or so) goal.
So, unlike this one, it is not a thread where people talk about their day to day chanllenges and successes but rather information from people who "made it" all the way. So it is NOT a go there instead of here thread for anyone still needing to loose. Just a reference of successful techniques from big loosers
It may be an inspirational reference and I hope it grows as more folks make it to their goals - - I would love it if WE could all add to it when we "make it"
