Anyone out there looking to drop 100 lbs?!?

Quote  |  Reply

I am aiming at losing 100 lbs if not 120lbs.  Anyone else out there needing to drop a significant amount of weight? If so hit me up.  I know the large amount of pounds that you're looking to shed can be overwhelming so let's stick together.  Lets lose lots of pounds together.

Good luck to beautiful_stranger and everyone else on this journey.  I joined 2 weeks ago and feel more committed than ever to make this journey again.  I have accomplished it twice before at age 16 and 27.  I am now 66 and it has taken me a very long time to put it all back on.  I now want to go the other way.  I find this site Soooooo helpful.  I think the recommended calories for me 1450 is perfect.  Years ago they always recommended 1000 calories.  I think that is not enough to keep you satisfied for long term weight loss.  I find I can not allow myself to become hungry.  The burn meter also is a big help.  I fill it out everyday and it helps me stay focused.  I swim laps 3 days a week and 15 minutes of water aerobics.  Days that I don't go to the health club I walk up a hill we have on our property.  I think when I go to the store a will look for a low impact video for some variety.  Any suggestions????  Next Saturday will be my first big challange as we have a covered dish dinner with our camping club.  I think that may be a no count day.  CoolTongue out But right back on track for Sunday.  Thank you for letting me share.

SW 224  CW 220  GW135 to 150  2LB this week 4lb total

Hi, to all the new people and Hi to all my friends on the site.  I have been out of pocket for about 4 days ( one more to go) staying with my elderly mother-in-law.  I didn't get a chance to email my weight loss on fri. and since I am not here at the same time of day today it is not registering the same. guess I will just wait until I am back home on wed. morning.  Jerichocheyenne I hope that you are feeling better, take it easy though.  Everyone, it is a good idea to go to the dr. before starting any new exercise program, or big change in eating habits. esspecially if you have underlying problems already like, blood pressure, heart problems thyroid problems or any major health problem. My husband reminded me when he started walking that since he is 300 lbs, it is like a 150 lb person carrying a load of 150 lbs on his person.   Remember also to start out slow and work your way up. It has taken me months to get to where I can walk 3 miles in a day.  Just want you all to enjoy the ride and stay healthy while doing it.  I know how easy it is to pull a muscle or injure your back so everyone try to be careful and safe..  talk to you all  later..... penny

Hello everyone!  It's been some weeks since I visited you all.  Great to read all the positive experiences others have been having and good luck to all who are still on the journed.  Have taken some hints which I will apply as they seem to be what I need.

After losing 10 lb.  I took two weeks off to deal with some emotional baggage, but am ready to carry on now.  Sorry but I will not be doing the weekly weigh-in, for no other reason than a fear of failure.

My biggest challenge is "eating consciously."  All my life when eating at home I have read or done puzzles and, of course, have no idea what I've eaten when the plate is empty.  Trying to break this habit has driven me to desperation to the point where I have been putting off eating until quite late in the day,  By then I am absolutely starving and it takes quite a lot before I feel full.   Tomorrow I am going to try starting with a veg. snack with no book in front of me for about five minutes and see if I can manage that.  If successful, I will do that for a few days and when that "takes," I will increase the time gradually.

Another thing I have done is not to bring home any sweets, cookies or chips.  If it is in the house, I will eat it.  If it isn't, I am content with fruit, veg. and water.

My deadline to lose 50 lb. is August 31.  That will leave another 50, but I will take a while longer with them.

Best wishes to everyone.

Well, after my disappointing .5 pound loss last week, I buckled down and was thrilled when the scale was down 4 more pounds this week. This journey is incredibly dificult and seeing the pounds come off each week is such a motivator to keep going! I hope everyone else is having the same success. If not, stay with it. The end results will be worth it!

SW: 242 / CW: 229 / GW: 140 (down 13 pounds! That's more than a 10th of the way there, haha!)

woops. posted twice.

well, i'm not quite up to 100lbs to lose, but 75-80. i just wanted to let everyone know how proud i am of myself! haha i started about 2 and a half weeks ago, and at first i was so skeptical of whether or not i would even go through with this whole calorie counting thing, but now i'm obsessed with it and don't think i'll ever stop! (in a good way of course) haha

SW:227 CW:218 GW:145-155 or whatever i think is best when i get there!

good luck to everyone, the support on this site is part of what's helping me keep going everyday!

Good Morning, I want to follow up to pacific586 comment of "eating consciously."  or what I call mindless eating. I was thinking about this yesterday and when she posted this decided to comment on the subject.  All of us at some time or other sit and eat while reading, watching TV or one of my MAJOR problems while cooking.  I have always unconsciously had the theory if standing up it didn't count.  When cooking I always taste and now realize you don't need a tablespoon full to see if it is seasoned properly.  I now eat only sitting at the table and give my food my undivided attention, I think about how good it tastes, I eat slowly and totally enjoy.  When cooking i take a tiny sample.  Another problem area is the refrigerator when you are bored.  How many times do you find your self opening the door and gazing into it looking for something, your are not hungry just want something to do.  I use to always go to the refrigerator after my husband went to bed.  I was not hungry just driven by something inside of me.  Since I have started this journey I do not do that, I am enjoying my meals and snacks and so proud of myself that I am staying on track.

You know another thing I am finding along those lines is that when I don't eat food with processed sugars, flours etc [and diet sodas!]  but eat natural fruits and vegetables and drink water - all of a sudden a formerly boring fruit becomes a really sweet delight.

I think having to write down everything really helps stop you from eating while standing and cooking ---- relevant because I had lost weight until my parents moved in with us and started gaining again because I was not taking the time to write it down.

It's strawberry season right now and they are cheap and sweet - indulge - berries rock!

Hello, I would love to join your challenge. I too want to lose 100-110 pounds. I've been working on it religously for almost 2 weeks, with no results. I think I am burning too many calories and not eating enough. I will keep trying, but its kind of discouraging to work so hard with no results. Maybe we can encourage each other and offer helpful tips to keep the scale moving in the right direction.

My stats are as follows:

height: 5'4

current weight: 249

goal weight: 140

cynchris,  Don't give up!!!!!!  When I first started the journey I didn't register much loss until 3 weeks or more in.  I got frustrated, but hung in there.  Most people that lose alot of weight at first ( first few days) lose fluid, not actual fat.  I am sure in another week or so all of the sudden there will be 5-10 lbs gone.  If you can get walking or doing some kind of low impact ( or whatever exercise you choose) it will help speed up the metabolism.  There are alot of good tips and helpful hints on the site.supernan, I am with you on the sitting down at the table when you eat.  I even turn the t.v. down where I can't hear it.  It has made a big difference in my previous mindless eating.  I try to make myself accountable for whatever I eat. Also if you eat at regular intervals it will keep your glucose level more even ( I may not be saying that exactly right)  and you will stave off the "hunger pangs."     My journal has been a great tool.  way to go skorsac, tammy b  congratswelcome  alexstabile.   congrats to everyone that has joined. I look forward whenever I am home to getting on my computer and seeing how everyone is doing..    Jerichocheyenne, I hope that you are doing better.... Keep up the good work everyone.   penny

How is this looking [I just figured out I could do this]

I am 5'6"" at 255 now - going for 139

This has been my past two weeks; I have lost 6 lbs so far -

I am working on upping the fiber and lowering the sodium [which has been harder] The fat is kind of high but for the most part it is olive oil and smart balance and I always feel better when there is more fat than carbs. [actually I am more carbs than fat right now but not in "the zone"

Fat - 33.5% (846 grams)
Protein - 24.8% (1,412 grams)
Carbohydrates - 41.7% (2,372 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0%
Other - 0.0%

Daily Calorie Intake - 1,474 cals
Daily Sodium Intake - 2,352 mg
Daily Sugar Intake - 55 grams
Daily Cholesterol Intake - 211 mg
Daily Saturated Fat Intake - 17 grams
Daily Fiber Intake - 25 gram

You guys are doing great, and to those who have stumbled, remember it's a long term commitment, one bad day is not going to erase all the hard work you've done.

Starting weight: 235

Starting CC weight: 227

Current weight: 218

Goal weight 127

I'm down 17lbs from my SW, and 9lbs from my CC-SW.

Hope all is going well for you all.  I love reading your success stories.

I think something that may help me and others is those who keep journals on a frequent basis - it would be nice to be buddies AND read each other's journals and give support, praise, ask for help, etc.  Just an idea.  I am not inclined to post daily about ups and downs on the forum but do in my journal --- so I can see what went right and what went wrong.........

Oh to do that you go to

  • journals
  • my friends journals

Hi...

Im just starting out... again... hopefully i can have enough will power to stick at it this time... i really need to lose around 98lbs..

Starting... 225lbs

Current.... 220lbs

Goal... 127lbs

Sorry, y'all I have no clue what's going on with my health.  I guess it's a hiccup in my journey to becoming a better me.  The back pain worsened over the weekend so I went to the hospital again.  They think I may have a fractured rib or an abrasion on my rib or something.  They changed the pain killer I was on and this led to a migraine so I've been in bed most of the weekend and this week.  I'm finally feeling better.  The pain's not as bad.  I'm trying to keep up with everyone. It's insane how fast this thread grew.  We're happy each and every one of you are hangin here.  Good luck to everyone.  I hope you are all in good health.

Good luck! I know I have started over many many times.  This year I hope I have started from the beginning the last time!  Reading what everyone else is going through here really helps me alot!

Well I don't have any loss to report this week, but no gain either!  I had my first cheat weekend since january 1.  I was REALLY hungry for chicken wings and some fried foods so I decided it was time to give in.  The good news I used to eat about 30 wings at a time, but I could only eat six along with a sampling of some other fried foods and I was STUFFED.  So that made me see a big difference in what I can eat.

I'm happy to maintain and I jumped right back on board Monday morning!

I am glad you are feeling better jericho.

Longway to go,  I have journeled a little, but I do not have any buddies yet.  It is really hard for me to decide how much I want to put out there.  I seem to be doing pretty good with watching my Calorie Count and have been shedding some pounds, but I am struggling to stay positive.

There are so many of you who are doing a great job, and it is a real inspiration for me to be able to read through all of your experiences.

Welcome Charlenee,  I am going on my second week useing this site, and I really like it,  I have started and stop so many times that I cannot count, but this is it for me.  I am committed to making this a lifetime change..

Best wishes all!
