Anyone out there looking to drop 100 lbs?!?

Quote  |  Reply

I am aiming at losing 100 lbs if not 120lbs.  Anyone else out there needing to drop a significant amount of weight? If so hit me up.  I know the large amount of pounds that you're looking to shed can be overwhelming so let's stick together.  Lets lose lots of pounds together.

I have 121lbs to loose. It has been on for over 25 years! Restarting today

261 to 140 ---------

I am going to keep this thread up; it is so hard becuase being an older woman it just seems to take forever to come off ------ even with zone percentages, excercise, and calorie counting.

longwaytogo- you can do this.  You may feel like it's a long way to go but just remember everyday you're that much closer.  Maybe you are older but you can still kick your metabolism into gear.  Make sure you're grazing through the day instead of having 3 big meals.  I'm constantly eating but small portions and so my metabolism is working like it should.  Make sure you drink atleast 68 oz of water every day.  If you drink soda get rid of the liquid satan.  I purged all caffeine.  Haven't had any caffeine in over a month and I feel so much better.  Start w/ atleast 30 mins of cardio 3x a week until you feel more comfortable w/ stepping it up.  If you can handle doing some free weight exercises do that too.  Weight lifting and resistance training will make your body continue to burn calories when you're done.  Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement jerichcheyenne, we can all do this together.

Excuses excuses, I put my 20lb losss back on when I wound up caring for my mother ---- husband and I were up to 4 miles a day walking at that point.

My encouragement to anyone young with small kids is DO IT NOW -- before I had kids I was 135 and rode my bicycle 20 miles every morning. After kids, it became really hard but you know what, we can find excuses not to excercise any time in our life - I think many of us are supreme caregivers who put other folks needs ahead of our own.

I put my foot down with my father last week and said he needed to ante up and pay longer hours for a caregiver for my mom - staying in our house (both of them) is far less expensive than a nursing home for her and he can afford to do that. I am used to caring for her before and after work and that time needs to be freed up for excercise (because it is the ONE THING that I absolutely HAVE to do to lose weight - calories alone is not enough)

....... I have purged the diet colas and am working on lowering caffeine - thanks for the reminder on the water.

loanshark1278- Welcome. Good luck to you with all the health issues I know those can be distracting but it's awesome that you're using it to help you stay motivated.

clharr- Sounds great! I love it when people yell at me and kick my butt.  It helps motivate me and make me push harder.

Skorosac-Welcome! you can hang with us any time. Let me know if you have any questions.  Good luck!

necwby- I can't wait to start hiking again. I love the outdoors.

Limomof5boyz-listen to your body.  You'll be hot again don't worry. Just take it slow and workup.

traviswright2-Congrats on your success. Stay strong and don't lose sight of your goal. let us know if you have any pointers. by the way are you a nascar fan?

laurienkids2- love tae bo. Gotta love Billy!  Stick with it girl you're gonna get some sexy arms and you'll be able to throw a killer hook.

qween-this is your last time of starting again. I know how painful losing loved ones is.  Just don't let the pain of being overweight haunt you to. Stick with it and if you need any encouragement or have questions let me know.

Tammyb1995-Good morning to you too! i hope we get plenty of sunshine here in Tn I love being outside.

SKorosac-try a little bit every day and workup.  It really does get easier. Just make it a habit.  Let us know.  When I started spinning classes I thought I was going to die but I pushed through and now I can make it through an entire class. we're a lot stronger than we give ourselves credit for.

lemcclatchie-Get rid of the number it does become daunting. every day you're closer to your goal. every day your clothes get looser.  Just measure it with that.

EVERYONE ELSE- STAY STRONG! Get those workouts in and make healthy food decisions! If you need anything let me know!

31 years old, male 5' 10" and I weigh 325 pounds. Ten years ago my weight fluctuated between 205-210, and I was in good shape. Ten years of desk jobs, bad eating habits, and not enough exercise has put on 120 pounds.

My wife and I are having our first child at the end of July, and I want to be healthy for him. My goal is to be at 280 by the time our son is born, at 250 by Jan 1, 2009, and down to  220 by our 4th anniversary on June 1, 2009.

That's a total of 115 lbs in 14 months, or an average of 8 1/2 lbs per month, or 2 lbs each week. I think it's doable, and my health requires me to get it done.

so many new faces.....we can do this yall

I am trying desperately to walk a mile in 15 min. never in my life have I and yesterday I walked at 4.0mph... ie 15 min mile...for 5 mins. so I am 1/3 the way there....that is my mini goal for my cardio...it helps me to set little goals there to keep my interest up....and I am starting to notice a little definition in my arms again...so I am enjoying the gym....somedays it is hard to make myself go...but once I step in the door....I am OK and ready to go...

smileyman...you have a great motivation to help you ..a new baby...and we will be here to encourage you along the way

jerichocheyenne...hope you got sunshine...I am not much on exercising out doors but I love to sit out on nice days and read or take a liesurly walk....or fish...yes I love to fish...

longwaytogo....we all are in the same boat with a long way to go...but we can get there...I agree about the metabolism...once you get it to going again the weight loss will inprove...you just have to find what works for you and keep it up....good luck

ttyl

Thanks Jerichocheyenne you are a good encourager.  I will give it another try and see how I do.

Hi ylovedis welcome this is a great group I just started a day ago and they are already welcoming me.  We can do this together for sure.

good job tammyb1995 I'm proud of you.  You are on your way to making that 15 min. mile.

Yep- 27 2 kids and 316 - looking to lose 130 - just started and have only this site as my support so fell free to add me as a friend and we can help each other ;0)

Whew!  I'm not the only one!! I keep thinking how did I let this get so bad!  If I had just stopped this when it was 10 or 20 lbs it would have been so much easier!  Famous last words.

Well, I have tried other diets, lost weight and then got bored? and then gained it back.  This time I forked over the dough to join the gym and hire the personal trainer.  It's expensive, but so far it's really helped me stay on track.  My trainer measures body fat as well as my weight which has been good because I haven't lost a lot of weight so far, but I've gained muscle.  Without him I would have quit, thinking I hadn't lost enough weight.

Anyway, I'm here for the long haul......

About the 9pm carbs...drink a glass of water, I have heard warm (coffee) warm, that came from a doctor I know. but it didn't sound right.

I have set 100 lbs as my first major goal.  I would like to loose 150lbs total but if I can do 100 and keep it off, I can work even harder for another 50.

Well one thing that helps when I am REALLy hungry is a glass of metamucil.  The soluble fiber is also good for the cholesterol.  It is not a food substitute but it does kind of fill you up.  I think you will know if you do too much Cool

I have a question too, the "zone"-how many of you are targeting a balance in the 40-30-30 zone.  Or do you just worry about calories and quality of the food you are eating?

I am working on cuttyingy waaaay down and eliminate refined carbs of any type and not worry about fat if it is "good" fat.

Ylovedis- When you hang out with us here you get all of us.  I haven't done a running total of how many people we have in this forum but I'd believe it's somewhere around 50.  So now you have 50 partners. yay!

Smileyman- Like the name.  I hope you do smile all the time.  I'm feeling you on the desk job that's how I gained the last 20 lbs that I had. I was able to lose those 20 lbs already.  Congrats on being a daddy.  It's amazing.  Everything gets better. Holidays are more fun.  It's like you get to be a kid again. You'll definitely need energy especially with boys. Believe me.  Luckily for you guys lose faster than women.  Add some weight lifting and cardio and eat well and you'll shed inches amazingly fast.  Good luck!

Tammyb1995- Thanx for helping everyone feel welcome and encouraging them. You rock!

Skorosac- You seem to be getting the hang of this. Thanx for joining us.

Neverwilluknw- We'll support you and I'll add you as a friend.  I love to encourage and inspire so I'm here to help.  It feels overwhelming but you can do it.  I've already lost 20 lbs since I've been here. Good luck. Stay strong.

Fruity31807- Trainers are pricey but great. I love it when you have someone to help kick your butt.  Just make sure you're getting your money's worth.  You can always change trainers if you don't feel they're the right fit.  I used to be nervous about speaking up but I've learned and realized you should.  It's your money.  If your current trainer is the perfect match and gives you undivided attention that rocks.  I've always had trouble finding one that doesn't stare at everyone else while they're working you out.  Keep working hard. You'll definitely see the results.

Kawnd11- I love horseback riding.  I didn't even know there was a weight limit. wow.  I've been wanting to go too.  You can definitely lose those 45 lbs. Good luck. As for 9pm carb cravers.  eat some walnuts. lots of protein.  I would drink some water too.

Bmandesign- You for sure want to live as long as possible so Good luck and Congrats on the pregnancy.  Get healthy.  Can definitely help control diabetes.

Punkrockriot- You can for sure lose every pound.  Lucky for us tall girls we can weigh more and look thinner.  So you'll see dramatic differences along the way.  Just eat healthy and get in those workouts.

Longwaytogo- I'm a vegan so I just eat lots of fruits, veggies, nuts and whole grains.  I just eat really healthy and try not to load up on bread.  My breakfast is always lots of fruit, lunch is some kind of sandwich, and dinner is usually full of fiber and veggies.  Plus, I have snacks all throughout the day.  I eat Larabars which is a fruit and nut bar, I'll snack on walnuts, soy yogurt.  Different things like that.  I eat all day long.  My metabolism is definitely working.  Good luck.  I hope this helped.

Everyone Else- Don't be strangers.  If you have questions or just want to get something off your chest let us all know.  We're all here to support and encourage you.  Try something new today.  Whether it be a new veggie or fruit or tofu or a new machine or exercise at the gym.  Good Luck!

Hey everybody!

I just wanted to give everybody a mid day thumbs up!

Also, I wanted to share a personal victory. This morning I woke up early to work out! Me! The girl who enjoys sleeping more than anything else in this world (well not more than eating obviously!). And let me tell you guys, I'm hooked! Working out in the morning is great! I feel like I could run all day! For those of you who are afraid to try it, it is totally worth it!

I'm going to stop using exclamation points now! No really!

i'm up for joining this group of fine people!

looks like i'm one of the bigger people here...

Starting weight:  390

Current Weight: 360

1st Goal Weight: 250 (i'll see what my next goal will be after I reach this sucker)

thanks for starting this thread,  seems like most people on this site are just looking to loose that extra 15-20lbs, its good to see the people that others think are a lost cause to be stepping up and doing something.
