Hi everyone,
My goal is to get rid of 50lbs. Does anyone have a goal around that number, or already lost that much? How much time am I looking at to obtian this goal? It would be great to talk with someone in a similar boat as me! I look forward to your reading your posts!

Great! I would love the encouragement!
Hi there! I found this site on March 24, 2006 and by December 31, 2006 - I had lost just over 50 lbs. The best advice I can offer is, slow and steady. I threw together this post a while back with all the little things I learned when I first started. You are more than welcome to check it out.

I will try to be on CC at this time every evening.
There's allot of people here that have lost 50 pounds or more. Don't try to do it over night. Minus 1 to 2 pounds a week is a realistic goal. Track everything that you eat to see how many calories that you are eating. Read, read, read, so you can see what others are doing. At first you may lose quickly but don't expect it to continue. Your weight loss program will be much more effective if you also exercise 3-5 times a week. Good luck to you both.
You can learn allot by clicking on other people names and checking their profiles and journals.

I'm looking to lose about that. I love the daily food and activity trackers on here and have found them really useful when recording all my calories/activities. I hope to continue with the same momentum.
I've lost 50 lbs.
I started last february. The first couple months I was losing ten lbs a month. Then it got down to around 5-10. The more I lost the slower it got. I ate around 1200cal a day but usually had a day or too where I was more flexible. I did light pilates exercise and used 5lb hand weights. Thats it :)

If you journal, and I'm added as your friend, I can read what you write (and you can read my journal)
This is a great site, use all the tools and join us in healthy eating!!

I'm not too far from your goal. 44 lbs. I just started using this site too. I love how much easier it is to keep track of my caloric intake. I it motivates me to exercise...something that I had doing.
Anyway, I look forward to losing the weight with you. :)

I started here Sep 26, '06 and have lost 20lbs to date....I'm aiming to lose @ another 30lbs. to reach my goal. I'd like to lose it all by July (being our wedding anniversary and we'll be celebrating it with a trip to Hawaii)..but if not...no big deal. As long as I stay focused and on track, I'll lose.
BTW, welcome to C-C. This site has a wealth of info.

I lost 50 for my son's wedding..took about a ten menths...that is about half of what I wanted to loose but from ThanksGving on I have done nothing but eat..gained 21 pounds plus the fifty I have to go..so I have fifty plus...read flip you switch..metabolism rate..researching out what I can find about eating habits and how to make what you eat work for you..I know we can do this!..eat small meals every two hours so you don't get hungry and manage your calories...8 glasses of water is really good for you, too..you get use to grabbing a cup of water every hour..just takes time to teach yourself..this sight is so good..information at your fingertips...Journaling what you eat ..when you eat..why you eat is very powerful...you learn allot about your eating habits and what sets you off...Here's to staying focussed..coming along side!! We can do this.. cp
Hi. I just joined on the 6th of January and I have about 70 pounds to go. I am very motivated at this point, but 70 pounds is going to take lots and lots of motivation and lots of time. I hope to reach my goal by the end of the year. Good luck to you.
I'm looking to lose about 53 to get to my ideal weight...long way to go, but slow and steady wins the race, right?
Last year, I decided that the best thing I could get for my 50th birthday was 50 fewer pounds. I decided this at the end of April. Not being a fan of deprivation, I thought I was giving myself a good amount of time to lose the weight, as my birthday is not until next month.
I found it easier than I thought it would be to lose the weight, and met my goal before Christmas, even with eating at maintenance for a week (or *cough* two...). So now I have a new goal, and that's to lose 30 pounds, for a total of 80 pounds (heavens, that's a lot!) lost. :-)
I did a lot of little things, made a lot of little changes, did not give up my favorite foods or anything like that. I made more sensible choices, however, and watched portions (usually :-D ), and ... that worked!
You can do it!

Hi! You can lose the weight. I've lost 45 pounds in the
past few months, and I have about 60 more to go before I hit my first
goal. I really worked on changing my food consumption (cut out
all regular pop, reduced serving sizes, got most of the junk food out
of my house), walking at least 10,000 steps a day (got a pedometer from
www.new-lifestyles.com and LOVE it), and exercising a few times a
week. You can do it--it just takes motivation. :)

I've lost approximately 60 pounds since April 06. Like others have said it comes off quickly at first and then slows down. Just practice healthy habits with your eating and be sure to include some form of exercise. Walking or DVDs are great ways to start if you can't join a gym. Just remember that you expenditure is more than your intake. Good luck and be proud of yourself for beginning this wonderful journey to a healthy lifestyle.
As of today I have 50 more pounds to lose before the end of this year (Dec 26 2007). I just started on Jan 7 2007. I'm trying to go by losing 2 pounds a week (maximum for healthy weight loss) You can talk to me for questions or support whenever just add me :) I'm looking for some support as well.
oo oo oo oooooo pick me pick me LOL
I'm working on losing 60lbs, and need all the help I can get as I am my own worst enemy sometimes.
*ok off to fill out my journal*
