anyone losing weight without excercising daily?

or counting calories daily? Just wondering if doing one or the other is good enough and how often it is working for you.

I've only exercised like 3 times since I started my diet, and I've lost 15lbs in a month.
You really don't need to exercise to lose weight, but it helps you lose faster.
I don't exercise daily, but I am watching my calories. I've been using this website for 2 weeks and I've already lost 4 pounds! I exercise when I can, walking/running, but mostly keep an eye on what I eat. I eat about 5-6 small meals or snacks throughout the day, then eat a pretty big dinner. I drink water all day or diet soda. I plan on using this site until I reach my goal of 20 pounds.
right now i am. i haven't exercised in the past two weeks and i've lost a pound. ofcourse i'm looking to maintain and i'm working my way up to 1,600 calories cause right now i'm only eating 1,200.
I've been on this new lifestyle and have lost 42 pounds. My exercise is doing the dishes, or making the bed, and ocassionally doing 5 minutes on the exercise bike. I once walked a half block and back, but it took me 15 minutes, stopping at every telephone pole. You see, I'm disabled, and can do very little exercise, but I am still losing weight anyway.

Yup, I haven't been exercising every day either, but I've been losing. When  I first attempted this self-improvement lifestyle I tried just exercising, but not dieting, and it didn't work nearly as well. I lost a very slow 5 pounds that way, but since I started CC I've lost 30.

However, I don't log my calories anymore (at least right now.) I did, religiously, for about 4 months, and it helped me learn an amazing amount of lifelong information - how many calories are in basic foods, how many calories are right for me to eat, how much is too much and how much is too little. Every food decision I make it better-educated; I know that just 4 ounces of cottage cheese (90 cal) will stop the nighttime hunger cravings, and I don't have to eat a whole bowl of cereal or sandwich. For the past two months I've stopped logging, but just used my knowledge and good judgement, and I've been losing faster than I was before! Maybe I'm eating a little more, maybe less, I'm not even sure - but it's working.

Exercise is great for your body and mind too, but you have to remember to make up for it by eating more.

I lost 75 lbs with just diet and an occasional bike ride (I've always liked cycling, so I did it even when I was overeating), but not daily or for any set time, but when I hit about 195 lbs, I got complacent and blew off the counting and started eating and drinking beer again for about 6 months.  Before I knew it I was back to 235 (I'm 6'2").

So this time I am doing some calisthenics and light work with dumbells as well as a daily vigorous 30 minute bike ride, but I take weekends off from exercising.

Honestly, although I felt better when I lost weight by mostly just diet, I still felt kinda flabby and blah.  This time, I feel like I'm firmer and the bike ride helps keep my mood better.  I think incorporating regular exercise (not necessarily really vigorous exercise) is worthwhile because it will help you keep more muscle and burn more fat, keep your mood up, and even helps suppress appetite (at least it does for me).

I think dieting without exercise is okay, but it seems like it's easier to get down, to rebound, etc.

PS - I'm back down to 223 now and feel better than when I was at 195 and not exercising.

Yes, but it's very slow.  I'm unable to exercise because of physical/medical problems.  I'm losing about a half a pound a week on 1400 calories a day.  I could lose faster, but my doctors say that it's not advisable.  I've learned to be very patient with myself.
Apart from sex i do no exercise, I find it boring and the 2 sports i like i won't be able to take up again till i pass my driving test and possibly win the lottery.

I've lost around 2lbs a week from doing this, a little less when i over indulge on alcohol but generally the weight has been coming off steadily
I only work out about 2-3 times a week on average, and I've lost 70 lbs.

I use exercise to supplement my diet. If I know I'll be consuming more calories that day, I work out to balance it out.
Really glad to see other people who dont get to exercise much either and still loose! Talk about that I am laaazy. So far ive lost 35 lbs without too much excersise except for walking the dog and running up/down the stairs.
I've lost 49 pounds, 316 down from 365 on May 22, and still losing with basically no exercise.  I'm male, 30, 5-10.  I mow the lawn every two weeks and only used the exercise bike twice total, so really minimal.  I know that I need to exercise and when I start to lose more slowly then I will - but I'm losing too fast as it is and don't want to lose any faster - and don't want to eat more than I am.

I make it a point of pride to never exercise.  ;)  Seriously, though, I really hate it and just flat-out refuse to do it.  I live in a city where I do a fair amount of walking, though, so I'm probably still moderately active.  In any case, I've lost about 7 lbs over the last month without ever consciously exercising.

Don't exercise. Lost 36 lbs in the past four months.

I think I might start soon, though. My weight loss seems to be slowing down unacceptably, and I'm not willing to cut calories further. (1500 a day is hard enough- many days I can't do it!)

I lost my first 30 pounds on CC with very little to no exercise.  My problem was that my body was just a smaller version of the old one and didn't really "look" much different.  I've added exercise (that I hate doing), but force myself not to miss.  Not only do I feel better, I've noticed a change in my body 3 weeks into the exercise routine.

So you CAN definitely drop pounds with diet alone, but if you want to see changes to your body, you'll probably have to eventually add exercise to the program.

I lost 30 without it this past spring. And now I've lost another 14 also without exercise. Usually I wait until I plateau to incorporate activity. I will agree with the PP though that exercise will change your appearance a lot more/faster than dieting... A friend and I started around the same weight at the same time - her with exercising and a little more eating, me with less eating and very little-no exercise... after 3 months I had lost more weight in lbs but she went down more pant sizes than me and probably looked a lot more fit.
You can lose weight as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn, so sure, you can lose weight without exercising.  Lately I've been too busy to get to the gym, so I just really count my calories and everything is fine.

I think the trick is counting calories if you have a tendancy to overeat. I know I can't trust my judgment at all.

i lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks with only taking 2 walks during this time, not counting the walking at stadium once for a niners game.  I just cut  my calories.. not drastically either,..i eat around 1700 cals/day.

I lost about 10 lbs. with little exercise.   I hate exercise, and exercise when I can.  I am trying to maintain without exercise.  I'm having a hard time, so I guess I'll need to my calories by 100 a day and see the results.   I know that if I rely on exercise I'll quite exercising and put on weight for sure.   I'm trying to find the right calorie intake to maintain without exercise.   The calorie calculators are just averages and you must tinker and adjust the daily intake.
I can't exercise everyday, but I do exercise when I can.  I think it will make me healthier in the long run.  I hate to feel tired and all the extra weight I gained made it hard for me to feel like doing anything.  But I am happier when I have done some kind of exercise.  It's like I have accomplished something.

This is interesting,  because you always hear diet and exercise....some break their backs to exercise everyday. It helps to read these to know you can lose without exercise. congrads to all with your successes!!
