Anyone here love tim hortons coffee??
Just wanted to tell any canadians who drink timmies coffee to beware..lol I just played with thier nutritional calculator, and for an ex. Lg w/ 2 cream, 3 sugar, its 315 calories...
Im a timmies addict..lol But not anymore...lol
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Foods forum
Yeah, I was a former addict of the ol triple triple. Take it now with 2 milk, 2 sweetners, only 65 cals. Not too bad, but you do take a big hit on the flavour.
Good call. Most of the cals come from the cream.
well i love it... but not for over 300 calories..lol It tastes totally different with milk, so its back to just brewing my own.lol
mostly i just drink my kicking horse at home.
I love timmies! I used to drink and extra large triple triple, but after awhile I was finding it too creamy and way too sweet. So I started getting double doubles. Then I found out you can get it made with milk (2% I think it is) instead of cream, but for some reason I still found it too sweet, so now I ask for single made with milk and I use one sweetner and it's perfect. I can actually taste the coffee now. Were as before it was more like drinking coffee flavoured cream.
I don't know the exact calorie percentage, but .25 cup of 2% milk is about 30cals, then the sweetner (I use splenda and it's 0 cals). So 30 cals from 300+ works for me.
I used to drink a triple triple everyday as well....
Or half french vanilla with half coffee
I don't really anymore though.
And the Tim Hortons at my school, I would not consider anything even remotely healthy. Its super unfortuante, cause there is one in every building almost. And those delicious donuts/muffins just stare at me everytime I walk in :(
I <3 Timmies! I drink my coffee black, so I don't get any of the calories from cream etc. There isn't one anywhere near my work or I'd be there every day.
Yikes! A large dbl trpl is 315?! My favorite indulgence is a med dbl dbl with the real cream and sugar. I was too chicken to actually check the cals on it, so every time I have one, (like yesterday), I count it as 70.. :S yeah, I guess I'm a bit off...
Having said that, I have learned to eat my Shreddies without any sugar added and am used to it now, wouldn't even think of going back, and I'm going to try that with my coffee too. I'm going to gradually switch from my regular to black with 2 sugars (I drank it that way for years) and phase the sugar out altogether. *crossing fingers*
Tim's coffee is so weak, and tastes like water.
Everyone should spend the extra dollar for some quality coffee, or a yummy latte.
My hubby despises the smell of Timmies on my breath- any other coffee is fine but no to Tims. So I only drink it when we're not together! :P
Ok, I'm going to stray a little off topic here, but I'm sick of the huge lines in Timmies now. Can't they have a separate line for people ordering sandwhiches, bagels, steak, etc... ??? Used to be in and out in that place. They need an express line for people who just want coffee.
What on earth do they put in their coffee that makes people so crazy for it? I know lots of people, myself included, that don't even think it's very good as coffee goes. I think most of the addicts are the "dbl dbl-er's", because if you drink it black, it's not that great. I'm a black coffee decaf drinker, and Tim's doesn't do it for me, because it's all about the flavour. It's not even the caffeine fix that I'm after!
I do know someone who swears they have 3x the caffeine of other coffee, and that's what the attraction is. ?
I think the cream-sugar combo is addictive because everyone I know who drinks black coffee says Tim's tastes really bad.
I'm so sick of Tim's and their awful service. The people at the Tim's near work NEVER say thank you and 1 out of 10 times, they'll put cream in my cup even though I clearly ask for milk. I'm pro-Starbucks, except I find their regular coffee a little too strong!
Only Canadian like Tim Hortons. People from other countries who are used to "real" coffee (i.e. espresso) think T.H. coffee tastes like watered down instant!
On a recent 5-day business trip to Winnipeg I was absolutely dying for a REAL cup of coffee!!! Everyone from the office I was working at told me how great T.H. was, so I tried it out... after about 1/4 of the cup I threw it away.
Literally, the first thing I did when I landed at a U.S. airport was head for Starbucks :-)
If you're go to the Starbucks website they have a list of 20 drinks under 200 calories you can download!
Aw, this is so nostalgic for me just hearing the name Tim Hortons! I went on a hockey tour to Canada when I was at school and we lived in Tim Hortons for two weeks, doughnuts, coffee, bagels...... we tried them and loved them all. I haven't been there or heard the name since that trip. Wish we had a Tim Hortons in Scotland!!
We spend most of our time in Starbucks, which, apart from the cost, is also high in cals, especially if, like me, you love the White Chocolate Mochas - a bit naughty! Heehee..
Thanks for the tip about the website list of drinks under 200 calories, think I'll have a wee look at it.

Did you actually just say that? You're making it sound like you're from Europe, and you are only from the states. Obviously Canada has espresso. In downtown Toronto there are more independent coffee shops and Starbucks then Tim Hortons. And sorry to say, the US has Dunkin Donuts which is just as bad.
