I am 5'1 or 5'2" and am between 100-105 lbs and lost 25-30lbs in eating 1400-1500 calories a day (strictly an average of 1450 a day from May to September and lost 15-20 during that time).
Mathematically speaking (this is Calorie Count afterall) a 5'2" woman has a BMR of roughly 1200. So if you are a normal person going about your daily life you would have a metabolic rate of about 1700-2000. So between 1500 and 2000 to maintain depending on how much you work out, it could even be more.
I eat about 1800-2000 calories a day and maintain 100-105lbs. I barely exercise at all. Lately I do feel like I am gaining a bit though so maybe 2000 is too much for me. But truthfully I don't even count anymore, just adjust my diet depending on how my scale looks weekly.
thanks everyone.
I just find it kinda odd how no one on this thread is at the "ideal" healthy weight range/BMI for our height... we are ALL underweight :S
carmenxox, I had to reply to this and please take no offense. Off the top of my head within this topic, hols1987, figurethefat nycgirl are within "ideal" weight range/BMI for the height. I am 38 years, just about 62" in height (almost 5'2") and come in between 103 and 104. According to WHO I am at a healthy weight.
Personally, I do not count calories, but agree with nycgirl in her estimation of calorie intake. I make the best choices in the food I put in my body and balance when the healthiest choice isn't made (i.e. an apple if I have a cookie; brocolli with Mac&Cheese, salad with a slice of pizza) - basically everything in moderation and portion control. I also look at and realize the lack of nutritional value in an "empty" calorie and that empty calories leave me hungry. The most important thing I can stress, is activty. Keep the activity levels going. It doesn't mean exercise 24/7 in order to eat, just keep your body healthy. It may mean walking an an extra 15 minutes, taking the stairs rather than the elevator, taking on "chores" that require your energy. Muscles and bones all need to be working as we get older.
Just my thoughts and opinion. I hope no one takes offense. The only thing I want to stress is keep the activity levels up, eat everything in moderation.
Good Luck all.

I think that all the BMI stuff is very inaccurate...it doesn't really look at the activity and the lifecircumstances and let's face it, someone weighing 150lbs or whatever at 5'2 is not exactly normal looking.
I guess that most of us are underweigh it's because all of us try to look in the mirror and feel comfy (in a not-disordered way) and I think that's the only really healthy way.
I guess I'll chime in, kittyisaround...I'm in my early thirties, older than most of the posters, 5'2, and somewhere between 120 and 125, depending on which scale I'm on. My waist and hip measurements are on the high end of healthy, my bmi is also on the upper end of healthy.
At my lowest weight I was around 100lbs and in my early 20s. I didn't have an ED, but many people thought I did - which suggests I didn't look great. I was acting a lot at the time and was consistently cast as a child, a boy, or someone sick. Of course, I was drinking like a fish, eating double cheese burgers and extra cream cheese bagels, and smoking like a chimney. I really couldn't put on weight.
In my own opinion I've looked healthiest at about 115 - thin, fit, with curves. I like my curves now but I'm not in great shape, not well toned, and feeling a little too chubby for my own comfort. Currently I'm trying to figure out how close to 115 I can get without turning my lifestyle completely upside down. My aim at the moment is measuring 36, 26/27, 36/37. I've been eating around 1500 mostly healthy calories and exercising regularly. I've been seeing a slow but steady decrease from my high of 135+.
That's probably more than you wanted to know, but there you have it :) Stay healthy, ladies - you're all sooo cute!

Im not really sure how many calories i eat but i was wondering how many calories other 5'2ers eat? im 104 pounds and 20 yrs old
My ideal weight!
I'm, 5'2, 20 (as well) & 120 pounds heavy.
Hello fellow 5'2''ers!!!
I'm 5'2'' and 109 lbs. My ideal weight is 100lbs. I'm a super small frame, right now I would call myself somewhat chubby. But, I was wondering, I can get down to 100lbs, 95lbs if I really try, but I have trouble maintaining. I don't know if I really believe this calorie intake thing, I guess I don't know exactly how to count my calories, because when I punch them into this website, my average is only 700. I don't feel faint, and I do eat until I am full.
First question: How long does it take you girls to get to your ideal weight, on average? And does your weight fluctuate once you get to your ideal weight?
Second question: What types of foods do you eat, and what sort of excersice do you do?
Thanks a bunch!! <33

what you are doing is very unhealthy and very detrimental to your mental and physical being... if you have been on this site for longer then a day then you should very well know that 700cal a day is not good... 1200cal per day is the MINIMUM an ADULT woman could eat.
it doesnt matter if you are "full"; all that statement implys is that you have starved yourself long enough for your metabolism to slow to adjust to the energy that you are allowing it, it is used to having only 700cal and it will only burn 700cal... you are basically following an anorexic diet, and this will not be maintainable for the rest of your life... you are pretty much slowly killing yourself by eating like this.
please do some research, there has been many threads on topics just like these... no body on this site is going to help you starve yourself down to your "ideal" weight (it will all come back once you start eating more anyways)
carmen xox
i wouldn't consider myself aneroxic whatsoever, i do not starve myself either. i was just wondering how long it takes you, and everyone else to get to their desired weight, I realise that what I do is unhealthy (eat in moderation, then go on a binge-week). I also realize that that is probably not the best way to lose weight, maintain it, and be happy with myself. The reason I was asking is because when I start losing weight, it's pretty quick. I eat right and I exercise 4-5 days a week. I was wondering if you guys do the same. Or if you guys have any strategies or tips on how you lose weight.
paulinka
700cal is considered a starvation diet...
you're "binge weeking" because you are not giving your body enough food and energy, it can only handle this for so long until it cant take it anymore and you end up binging like crazy... the dreaded binge-starve cycle, and this is ED behavior (i can't diagnose over the internet, but from what you are telling me you do have some food/eating issues)
there is no for sure time length to get to your desired weight, everyone is different... but a healthy weightloss is 1-2lbs a week, so depending on your method, metabolism, excersise and lifestyle any weight lost will be determined by these factors, does that make sense?
but at a certain point your weight will plateau since your body will realize that it can't afford to lose more and fears starvation so it will hold onto everything.. you are not overweight to begin with so losing anymore in your case while you are already eating so little will pose quite the challenge...
Which foods are high in both fat and calories?
Foods that are high in both healthy fat and calories are all nuts, nut butters, seeds such as sunflower seeds, oily fish (salmon, sardines... Read more
