ANYONE maintaining on 2000? stats, workout, etc. Would help a lot!!

I am currently trying to maintain my weight and was wondering what the typical sizes are of individuals who can manage to maintain by eating the recommended 2000 calories for women and/or 2500 for men. Is this actually possible? I think it is, for some, but I want to know who...lol

thanks for sharing and the information will be used for the best! I really want to set realistic goals and not delude myself into thinking a certain exercise regimen will allow me to eat 2000 calories when the only people who maintain at that level are 6'0 and run marathons...lol. [okay, a bit drastic but you get my drift] i know i know...everyone is different, i just want real people with real experiences as a guide.

I'm 5'3" and in recovery from anorexia.  I'm on maitenance now and the doctors/nutritionist have recommended I eat around 2000 and exercise 3-5 days a week for an hour.  From my calculations I've been eating 1600-2100 (i follow an exchange based meal plan) and to my knowledge I've been maintaining (i do blind weights).  Oh, and I"m 15 years old.

what type of exercise do you do? what is your maintenance weight? 115??

My weight is 113-116.  It depends on the day for exercise:  1 hour swim, 30min run/30min weights, pilates, 1 hour run, 30  min elliptical/30 min yoga, basically whatever!

I think you should instead focus on yourself though.  Every body is different.  You might maintain on more or less than me, or someone with similar stats to you, just because of differences in metabolic rate, etc etc.

i know that, and i addressed that in my original post but forums are about hearing others' experiences regardless of individual differences. thanks for the response :)

I have been maintaining on 3000-4000 calories a day for 7 months now, but I am the 6'0 marathon type you talk about.  I do run at least 8.5 miles every single day (8 miles in an hour...usually).  The last day I did not run was over three months ago.  It's a small price to pay to eat what you want.  Eating what I want is still pretty healthy eating though with the occasional half a box of thin mint GS cookies, carrot cake, or half a loaf of butter bread.  :)

I am 43 and 6'0' M and did see something I have absolutely not seen on the scale in at least 25 years today.  The first digit was 1 and the second was 5.  Big change from 320 in 10/07.

Congrats on the weight loss...an entire 170+ pounds. that's over half of you!! 8.5 miles daily. that's pretty intense. what keeps you going throughout the hour+ that you run, mentally it can be difficult for me to sustain running.

Hi - I maintain on 1990 cals per day. I am 28 (although 29 in a couple of months), 141 pounds but 5ft 11" with it - my BMI is 19.7.

I exercise 4 times a week, 40 minute spin class each time. I do that to improve my heart and not to lose weight. though

I find it hard to eat that amount every day to be honest, I try and bulk out meals with good foods like flaxseeds which are calorie dense but excellent for you.

Hope this helped? Any Qs then just let me know!

nelly-hi, id suggest being careful w 4 spin classes/wk, that is very intense excercise so u deff need the 2000-at least.

I'm fine running for up to 2 hours, after that, I totally lose interest.  I've given up on running a marathon.  Half marathons are easy and I could probably run one every day.  I'm gradually trying to improve my hour-hour and a half time.  Today I did sub 7 minute miles for 35 minutes and then sub 7:30 minute miles for 18 more minutes and then I pooped out.

What's funny is that I belong to Planet Fitness which is like a 10-20 dollar a month club that prides itself on servicing "average" people.  I was running pretty hard one day when someone stopped me and said that this club was not for people like me, it was for average people.  I replied as what do you consider average?   Fat?  Gee...in the world of running, I may be able to do better than some people, but a LOT of people can run better than I can.  :)

I'm female, 22 y-o, 5'6" and 118 lbs, eating from 1800-2150 and currently maintaining.

I cycle for 20-50 minutes daily (commuting), I run for about 30 min daily, I kick hacky sack from 30-60 minutes and I do calisthenics for at least 20 minutes a day, but on most days I add in about 30 minutes of weight training. I hike and take longer trips with bike on weekends.

On weekdays I usually don't exceed 2-2 1/4 hours of exercise (it's actually very simple to incorporate it into my day - cycling is the only pleasant way to college, I kick hacky with friends, I run with my bf, I do calisthenics and weights in front of tv with my mother). Doing different types of exercises for shorter periods of time keeps me interested and it's easy to find time for them.

2000 cals seemed like a lot to me, I was steadily losing (albeit slowly, but I didn't really need to lose anything to be healthy, it was just the vanity pounds) on about 1650 a day with just 25 minutes of cycling and 30 minutes running in the winter, but now that it's sunny and warm outside, it's no problem. Besides, I need to burn off those extra few cals so I can eat ice-cream :)

hey i'm 5'4 105-108ish pounds and i'm maintaining on 2500-3200 caloires....i've been maintaining for the last 6 months...when i eat less i find i lose weight

on days were i'm sedentary i eat just over 2000 which is usually once a week....

the other 6 days a week i train for marathons so i run 4 miles a day twice a week, 8 miles/1hr twice a week, 1 long run a week (over 12 miles) = 3200 calories....and then once a week i do cross training....

along with that i do weights on the 4 mile days.....

if you aren't training for a goal this probably isn't very helpful lol...but in the off season i'm thinking to cutting down to 2500 to maintain....

by the way about the marathon training....working out 7 days a week is pretty dangerous...especially with high intensity running. i wouldn't suggest anyone run 7 days a week, it's not healthy and can cause heart damage from the strain.

I am maintaining on roughly 2000-2200 cals a day. I am a 23 years old female, 5'2.5'', 113 lbs, 20% body fat (according to online measurements).

My sedentary intake is around 1600, but I use my bike to go everywhere, so that`s 30-60 mins/day of cycling, at moderate speed.

I go to the gym about 3 times a week and work out on the machines for ~40 mins. On days I don`t hit the gym I do a few minutes of intervals (used to be running, now it`s stairs).

And whenever I feel like something different I will have a longer jog, or a longer bike ride, hit an aerobics class that my university provides, go clubbing with a girlfriend, or simply pump up my favourite tunes and dance in my underwear. :D

On average though I`d say I exercise for about an hour to an hour and a half a day, pair that up with choices like taking the stairs and I`m looking at another 4-600 cals burned on top of my BMR. Rest days are uncommon for me because, as I said, I bike everywhere, and especially now with the great spring weather it`s hard to spend a whole 24 hours indoors.
