Does Anyone Order Tofu Shirataki Noodles?
I would love to try these but I cannot find them ANYWHERE near me. The closest place that sells them, I believe, the Whole Foods...45 minutes away!
I know that you can order them...
does anyone do this? Is it a good idea? Does it cost extra for refrigeration?
Thanks.
Yes, I eat them all the time. I order online.

There is a store about 30 minutes away from me that carries them but I normally order online in bulk. Will keep in frig for months. They don't charge extra to deliver in a refrigerated package. Shipping is a little high though.
You can go to the customer service section at local grocery stores and give them information on the noodles. Some will order if they hear about them enough.

Yeah but those look a little shady...
I actually found them at my local Kroger - close to the produce section where they keep all the organic milks/soymilk, tofu, etc. They were right next to the tofu. So, they may be at your local grocery store, just might take a bit more hunting.
Personally, I really didn't like them. I thought they were a bit slimey, and I really can't do slimey. I also didn't like the flavor, which I thought was little to none. I guess they are a good very-low cal food that would possibly fill you up, but I'd much rather have some ww pasta with fresh veggies and herbs and really enjoy it than eat a bunch of something I don't care for just because it's really low cal.
But, I do hear of many who really like them, so maybe it's just a taste preference, and one I don't happen to like. It would be worth a shot at getting some, but I'd suggest you try just one packet before you order the whole box as a sort of trial run. I'm really glad I did.
I hope this helps :).
no offense here but why are you looking to buy "calorie free" noodles when you recovering from an eatting disorder?
i think pasta may be something you should think about facing and being comfortable eatting instead of looking to ways to have it without the calories
I bought them on-line and they are as good or better than the house foods tofu ones. I was a bit nervous as well but they are very good. A bit of a reminder you really need to rinse these things very well 5 minutes or so and then dry them well (fishy odor). They turn out best if you pat them dry and then pan roast them. I mix them with veggies and soy sauce or jar tomato sauce. I am sold on both companies (house foods-miracle noodle)

Yeah, most people who have tried them that I know have suggested letting the noodles sit in whatever sauce you're using on them for a few minutes before trying to eat... They're pretty tasteless on their own, but the texture is like pasta, and if they taste like the sauce, you won't notice too much difference.
I'd personally rather use barley, or spaghetti squash, than either these or regular pasta noodles. But for people who'd like to pair them with vodka sauce, some really good garlic bread, and maybe an appetizer salad with dressing? The hundred-some less cals for the pasta would be very welcome!
The kind I buy are 40 calories a bag. I rinse them very well and they are not slimy.
I have been searching all over Tucson for those noodles. Apparently I do have to order them online. I am so excited to be able to eat spaghetti again!
Haha - I still eat spaghetti because a lot of tomato-based sauces are light.
I'm excited about alfredo sauces! And mac'n'cheese (I know they don't have macaroni shaped noodles, but still)
