I am looking for a peice of equiptment  to use at home to sculpt and tone. The kids are home for the summer and its hard to get to the gym..I was wondering if this was good or not? I saw it on ebay fairly priced and was thinking of giving it a try.Would love to hear some feedback...

I really don't know much about the pilates chair... but I do have a friend who swears by her pilates power gym (a larger contraption that she purchased through Amazon).

Personally, I would rather invest my money in good freeweights (of the heavy kind) that I could grown into, as from what I have read that gives the best results with regard to sculpting and muscle definition.  No idea as to what the difference in cost would be between that and the pilates chair...

My friend loves her pilates gym, though!  Sorry I couldn't offer much help.

I don't own or know anyone who has one, but I found this video, and to be quite honest, it doesn't look like it allows you do a workout that you couldn't accomplish with just your body weight, a $10 yoga mat, a $15 swiss ball, and a $15 set of resistance bands.  ~$40 vs. a $300+ chair...mmmmmUndecided

I suppose it may give a good workout, however I'm quite suspect of any fitness gadget / program that promises you give you "longer" muscles.  Just sayin'....

For my money, I agree with cc31 on the free weights.

i have one and that's $300 i will never get back. it gives a so-so work-out, but it was really boring and i'm not a fan. it's been hanging out underneath my bed for months now.

I am usually skeptical as well hence the post..I saw it on ebay for about $130.00 I would not spend $300 on it..no offense to anyone who did..I am just a bargain hunter..lol. I used a pilates chair at the gym and I absolutely loved the results I was getting with it..I was just curious as to the quality of this chair and the dvds..is it challenging? I was training for 6 months with a trainer and I would consider myself in pretty good shape and fairly strong..dont want a flimsy thing that will also hang out under my bed ..Thanks so much for all your input.

I had a hard time with the DVD's because they weren't compatible with my DVD player.. I ended up stealing my sisters to even do the workouts. But the workouts were pretty decent in my opinion.. the arm parts were the killer for me (i have no upper body strength whatsoever) I found that the leg workouts were too easy for me because there wasn't enough resistance. The ab part was pretty good though. The chair is pretty good quality.. it didn't slip around while I was on it and I felt pretty stable... I am kind of petite though (about 5'3" 120-ish) so idk how it would feel to someone who is taller/larger than me. It was pretty easy to assemble and to put away..

My verdict is that if you've been working out regularly with a trainer this will probably be too easy for you.. but if you liked the pilates chair you might like this since it's supposed to be pretty much the same thing.

Thanks so much danceintherainx...I am about the same size as you 5'4" 127 so I think I may just give it a go..although my trouble spot is my buns and thighs..I wonder if they have ways to add resistance..maybe heavier springs?? I hate the throw money out the window and have another dust collecting set of equiptement and dvds.
