Anyone planning on starting Power 90?

Quote  |  Reply
Hi everybody!

I am planning on starting Power 90 routines tomorrow and I was wondering if there's someone else in the same situation. I know for sure I won't be able to keep it up for 90 days (diet and everything) so...I need someone to encourage me to go on.

If you just started or planning to start don't you think will be a good idea to share our experience and results? Hopefuly you do!

Monix,

I'm on day 34 or 35 of Power 90.  I started last month and have been seeing great results.   Let me give you some background.  On March 1st, I decided that I was going to lose weight.  Was tired of carrying around the extra pounds (LOL).  I went to my dr. for my physical and he okayed my plan.  He told me to exercise 5 days a week and to have about 1200- 1300 calories a day.  He told me to control my portions and to pick healthier choices (fruits, vegetables, lean proteins).  He also told me to drink my water.  I drink 10-12 8 oz. a day.

In March I lost 15 pounds, April 12 pounds.  Towards the end of May I found this site.  I was reading the post and came across a post from deejlb (I am not sure how to link her page - try to locate it - you will be amazed at her results. .  She had completed her Power 90 and had amazing results.  On May 3 or 4th I started Power 90.  I had ordered the videos years ago.  When I pulled out the book with the calendar, I was surprised to see that I had ordered it in 2002.  Five years have gone by and I was never motived to complete the program.   I have been very consistent (the first month is the hardest).  I run 4 miles every single day at lunch time and alternate with the strength videos every other day.  I also do some pilates and yoga and I swim once a week.  So I am definitely getting in my cardio.  I am using the 3-4 strength video and it is becoming a bit easy.  I am currently using the 10 pounds weights.  Will need to buy some heavier ones this weekend.  I also love the ab videos.  Although I do my own variations at times.

The last few weeks I have increased my calories to about 1500-1800 calories and am still losing weight consistently.  Last month I lost 10 pounds and a few inches.  Every Sat. I measure myself and the inches keep coming off.  To date I have lost 37 pounds.  I still want to lose about 30 more and I am hoping that Power 90 will give me the boost that I need.

It would be great to share our experience as we go along.  Good luck and I hope you stay motivated.
What is power 90?
miamithin: thank you for your reply!! Actually deejlb's results made me order Power 90 (LOL). I've seen her pictures and diswcussed with her about the routines and diet plans. I started my effort in losing weight and do it smart in january. You see, my brother was supposed to get married and I wanted to look good. Meanwhile, I droped 2 sizes in clothes (did Slim in 6 with excellent results) but did not reach my weight goal. My brother's wedding took place this week-end (I fitted into the dress I wanted to fit, hurray!) so somehow, I am trying to find a goal to keep working! Thank you for your words, I'll start tomorrow and hopefully we will be able to help each other.

coastagirl: power 90 is a 90 days program from beachbody.com that helps you lose weght and shape your body. They have all sorts of routines. You may check it out on their site (be careful not to mistake the P90X for it, the P90X is the "extreme programe)
I'll start my 1st day of power 90 shortly. I'll come back to tell you how it feels....
Monix - i could use a partner to keep me committed.  I got it like 2 weeks ago.  did it one day and haven't touched it sense.  so lets go for it.  Deejib's post is what encouraged me to buy it as well.  yippee!
Hi Monix,

I started P90 on the 17th of May. After 14 months of trying everything from caloric zigzaging, to low fat, to high protein, to low carb, to low gi, along with cardio and  cuircuit training independantly at my gym and losing 3 lbs, I was feeling like I just needed to accept that was always going to be 183-6lbs no matter what I did or ate.

Its been 22 days. I've lost 4 and a half inches off my wasit and hips AND lost 3 lbs. Tightened my belt two holes! I see the physical changes in my body happening before my eyes. P90 is my Magic Formula. Yes, it still means eating nutritiously within a caloric range of 1500- 1700 calories, and spending atleast 30 minutes a day doing my dvds. I tried to do 30 minutes of cardio at the gym along with it but I ended up dizzy and fuzzy headed. It was suggested that I either up my calories or give up the cardio. I figured why up my calories and have to drop back when I got to maintenance? Why  not just 1500-1700 and increase calories needed to maintain?

Really, its not hard. I've still had treats (withing range). I got lazy there for a few days so instead of exercising 26 out of 30 days it will be 24 out of 30. But with the first two weeks of added cardio I think I'm ok.

This doesnt have to be excessive, just follow the guidelines. And as the book says, dont ask your self if you will exercise today, or give your self the option of not exercising on any particular day, just do it. If I am tired I'll slack off a bit, but still do the video.

Oh, and did I mention the stamina and endurance I have gained? Oh man. 22 days ago I could hardly do one modified push up. Today I can do 21++ full form. My arms have muscle form. My stomach is flattening. My thighs are slimming.

Finally, I have found success.

I'M IN LOVE WITH POWER 90

pssst... sorry for the book, but I am very passionate about this program.
PS. Has anyone ever told you that you look like Angelina Jolie?
Hey!!! I thought I am the only one to add posts in this thread, but we are 4 people already to do P90! I am so happy! I am really greatfull to you, m3lody to let me know how wonderful P90 is! I did the first day last night and it feels excellent! Of course, I already did Slim in 6 a few weeks ago, so I know about beachbody's programs. But I did not expect it to be so....pleasant! I really feel mu muscles working and I feel I will have wonderful results with it! I'm not doing cardio in addition to the dvd's but I try to walk as much as possible.

vbacon: I would love to see if your first impression on P90 is same as mine!
PS. No, no one told me I look like Angelina Jolie. She looks far to good to even think of a resemblance...Anyway, thank you....

Hi there,

I'm new the c-c.com boards, but wanted to add the to discussion that all of the Power 90 series are great!   It is interesting how I got started.  My Dad, (who is 58, an airline pilot, and needed a simple effective workout), came out to visit me in Arizona back in Dec 2005.  He asked if I'd like to try to keep up with him in a morning workout.  We did Power 90 3_4 Sweat and it destroyed me.  I felt that I was moderately fit and not really overweight so I didn't start with P90 1_2.   However, I could not keep up with the pace, was out of breath, and then did miserable on the Ab ripper 200.  Over the next few months I did what I could to keep up and built up my endurance and stamina.  I didn't do anything strict to my diet because I already ate decently, drank water (no soda), and all.  My dad gave me Sweat and Sculpt 5_6 for my birthday in May last year.  I added that to the routine and worked out four days a week alternating between Sweat 3_4, Sculpt 3_4, Sweat 5_6, Sculpt 5_6.  A little bit later I got the rest of the Master series and did a good rotation schedule I found on the beach body forums.  Today I started P90X by doing the X Stretch.  I went from 199 lbs 2 years ago to now at 165.  I did a check up last Nov and from cholesterol went from 184 to 113.  Triglycerides from 152 to 75.

Bottom line.  Keep it up and you'll do great!  I was joking with my wife how people get frustrated when their clothes are too tight to wear.  I get frustrated when the pants I just bought last summer (after I lost some weight) are already loose on me and a little saggy.

Stay positive and bring it!

I did power 90 cardio_1 on saturday and skipped yesterday b/c i was lazy.  so i'm going to do cardio_1 again today and sculpt_1 tomorrow.  for some reason i'm scared to do sculpt which is lame.  The guy is pretty toleratable and I was only way out of breath during the jumping around part.  But they give you methods to chill a bit and I kept moving albeit I wasn't hopping back and forth.

god i don't want these massive hips anymore.
Three more days until the 30 day mark! Already I have lost more fat and gained more muscle then I did the entire last years efforts. Go Power 90!
M3lody -

I agree with your post.  My arms are my best feature now and I can see my abs wanting to make an appearance (LOL).  I don't know about you guys - but I personally love Tony.  He keeps me motivated and is pretty funny at times.  I'm at the point now where I can add a few more reps before they are done.

The 30 day mark came and went. I lost 5 inches off my midsection, 3 lbs and 1/2 % body fat!!!!! All in 30 days. I cant wait for 60 days to come!

I upped my weights to 10 lbs. Definately more challenging. Didnt work out yesterday cuz I have been dizzy. Still dizzy today but I am going to give it a shot anyways. Its cardio so I can just go more slowley.
I got out the P90 DVDs tonight and watched the cardio. Sigh. I can definitely see why deejlb got such great results (had to go look at her pics!) I love Tony, too, he's great.

Do you guys ever just do the sculpting but not the cardio? I'm more of a power-walker/ jogger and elliptical person than a video-cardio person. Do you think it would be as effective?

I read somewhere that if you dread an exercise, it's more than likely the one you should be doing to see the best results. Sigh again.  I guess I could use some motivation too. I'm lazy...
The only concern I have is that substituting wont give you the "cuircut" and might limit your results. But, with that in mind, I would certianly try an alternative rather then not do the program. You could go to the beach body forums and see if anyone else has substituted.
Are these apartment friendly videos?? I don't want to bust through the floor of my apartment from jumping around?

I saw deejlb (sp?) pictures and she does look amazing!!

How much does it cost?  Where do I get it?
Guera I live in an apartment. You can find Power 90 as well as many more dvd's at Beachbody.com. Power 90 cost me $72.00. Well worth every cent. I am four days shy of my half way mark.

Deejlb inspired me, as well as many others.
ok, how do i go about this? i have power 90, my sister sent it to me when i asked for a workout tape, i didnt really know what it was till now.

am i supposed to work out everyday for 90 days? that wont work, i need at least 1 day off a week. at least for starters i do.  I dont have weights, but i have big water bottles that will do the trick.

i go home to visit my family in october (around the 15th) i havent seen any of them (except my parants in january when they came to visit) for 2 years. i have already lost 90 pounds. and would like to be able to lose 15 more before i go home. which is like, 1 pound a week, doable i hope. anyhow, i so need to tone! i want to look the best i can, and i am SO SO SO sick of how my body looks, i weighed in and measured today, so today will be day one of power 90, but i am lost how to go about it. do i sculpt one day and cardio the next? am i supposed to do both on the same day? HELP, all i have is the dvd's, no instructions, so i have no dang idea!

you can PM me or email me at stef.hernandez@gmail.com

or just reply to this, but an email would work so much better. :D

  • Sculpt Circuit 1?2
  • Sweat Cardio 1?2
  • Sculpt Circuit 3?4
  • Sweat Cardio 3?4
