I re-read The Taking by Dean Koontz, also finally read The Darkest Night of the Year, also by Koontz.

sharp, I've read Koontz but can't remember if I read The Darkest Night of the year, I think I did. What was the plot? If you don't mind refreshing my memory.

edit: I've just finished Twilight, am now reading New Moon. I wasn't impressed with Twilight at all. I'm only reading New Moon because my best friend is pressuring me to read these books. I was on a Ken Follett kick for a while and read Pillars of the Earth, Jack Dawgs, Code to Zero, Hammer of Eden, The Eye of the Needle. After I finish the Twilight Series I'm going to read A World Without End by Follett. Pillars is one of my favorite books. My problem is I read so many books I often forget them and once I start reading it for the second time I realize I've already read it. LOL

The Road was a great book.  So sad but the father/son relationship was sweet.  I heard they are making it into a movie.

I love Koontz.  The Darkest Night of the Year is about the woman who rescues  golden retrievers.

I got that one from the Library but I couldn't get past the characters not having names. I had a hard time connecting to them so I took the book back and never finished it. Should I check it out again?

I don't recall that one. It must have been The Last Night I'm thinking of. The true story about the Jews and the Holocaust.  hmmm my memory is getting worse by the day.

I had a hard time with the no name thing too.  It was weird at first but then I started getting into the characters and forgot about the fact that names didn't exist.  I guess the nameless part fits into the whole end of the world as we know it theme.   Couldn't hurt to try reading it again - or just wait for the movie!

If it doesn't have a golden retriever in it, it's not Koontz.  Smile

To whomever it was that asked about Orwell, Keep the Apidistra Flying is ... OK.  I'm just over halfway through, and it's the same thing over and over (Woe is me, I have no money yet I eschew money, woe is me).  I have a really hard time not finishing a book, though, so I'll see it through to the end.

Now I'm really confused. What Koontz books have I read. hee hee. I'm going to have to go looking now. I usually finish most books I get too, but I couldn't connect with The Road and I got so totally frustrated with As I Lay Dying by Faulkner that I'm only half way through it. I'll pick it up again ONE DAY. lol

r4eboxer - The Road does get better.. it starts flowing better and you just have to finish to see if they make it and what they find when they get there.. and what happens to them.  You never find out why the world is the way it is but soon you realize it's not about what happened.. it's about the relationship of a father and son.

I'm going to put it back on my winter reading list.
