Anyone getting ready to go to college?

Quote  |  Reply

I've been a CC member for a while but just started back up again. After weeks of proms, graduation parties, and other end-of-the-year festivities, along with stress over final exams and report cards, I've slowly put back on the weight that I had lost over the year.

Before I go to college, I want to reestablish healthy eating patterns and also lose about 10-15 pounds in order to get ahead of the "freshman 15." I was wondering if there were any other CCers who wanted to join me?

My stats
Age: 18
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 133.6 lbs
College: University of Vermont :)

Hiya, My name is Clemmie and I’m from the UK, but in September I am going to start University – and before I do want to lose all the weight that I put on over my gap year. I’m moving up to London and want to be looking my best and feeling confident to settle into my new life! I am 19, as I took a gap year before starting uni, but other than that I think we want pretty much the same thing! Clemmie

OH same!

I gained two pounds because of prom last week but I've already lost half of it after four days back on the wagon. I want to lose another ten on top of the 13 I've lost this spring for frosh week which starts on Sept 5th. The freshman fifteen seems terrifying but I don't think I'd let it happen after all my work this year. C:

Ultimately, when I'm at school and have unlimited gym access I'd like to lose another seven or so. Then I'd be happy.

Stats

Age: 17 and 11 months

Height: 5'8 and a bit.

Weight: 166.

Sscool: York U.

So not quite at the same point as you. I just finished up my first year, but I too am trying to recover from the ten pounds I gained this year (and the weight I'd accumulated before that... haha). Hope that's alright that I'm not exactly a rising freshman.

But I'm also trying to revamp my eating habits for a healthier lifestyle.

Some stats about me:
Age: 19
Weight: 195
Height: 5'4"
School: University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, basketball champs 2009!

haha

Class of 09" yay!

Just graduated high school and hoping to lose 20 pounds by Fall!

My stats:
Age: 18
Weight: 143
Height: 5'3"
School: University of Maryland Eastern Shore

Goal Weight: 123lbs by Fall

Hey! The exact same thing happened to me :( Beer and graduation cake are what I blame it on ;) I'm 18 as well, going to school next year and I want to feel confident when I meet lots of new faces and most importantly I want to feel fun and fit this summer so I can go out and enjoy it as much as possible. I'm currently 128 pounds and 5'3". I was down to 119 in the winter/early spring and felt awesome but put on the weight as I started getting into party mode. I want to be 110 when I start school August 29th so I've got 18 pounds to lose 10.5 weeks... So if I do my math right I need to lose 1.5 to 2 pounds each week. LET'S DO IT!

U all make me feel old :(

My name is Maria, 20 yo (here girls hav to do 2 years of obligatory army service but I got Crohn's disease n got out after 1.5 years), 5'7.5" n 144.5 lbs. Wanna be 135.

University: Edinburgh College of Art! Yay! N since I'll be completely broke after paying the tuition fees I won't have money for unhealthy snaks n I won't gain the weight back! GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!

haha

Sorry, just had to comment cause I go to Villanova so I'm slightly heartbroken. :P

But anyway, I just got done with my freshman year at college and wanna give some advice to you guys heading off to school. The freshman weight gain crept up on me and I didn't even notice. When I got home from school for the summer, I realized I gained 10 lbs and I know exactly why. At the dining halls, if there is nothing you want, they are ALWAYS making pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches, so I would go for those if there was nothing better to eat. THIS IS VERY BAD DON'T DO IT! :P We would also order out from various college-y restaurants which only offered unhealthy foods, so that was not good.

You have to allow time for yourself to pick out healthy things. A lot of the time I would be rushing off to class in the morning and only grab a bagel for the walk. Needless to say, a bagel is not the best thing to have EVERY MORNING haha.

Just in general, think before you put things on your plate or place an order at one of the nearby food establishments. Dining halls always offer fruits and vegetables as well as healthy alternatives to things (wheat bread, wheat wraps, low fat yogurt, etc.) Make smart choices. :)

down to 141.6, am on a roll here lol

good luck everybody!!

I just graduated 4 weeks ago and I'm going to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in September.  Right now I'm 16, 239, male, 6' tall, I just started dieting again and my ultimate goal is to get down to 160 lbs, I want to get down to 200 lbs before I leave for Cal Poly.  Good luck everybody!

143.5 this morning!! Down 1 pound this week!!
