Can anyone recommend a good heart rate monitor?
big hug!!
finally someone interested in their blood pressure and pulse..
I use mine 3 times a week...and I think everyone who is losing weigh should have one.
I have three in my possession..all battery electronic...they strap on to your wrist.
cost...$20 to $60 are the cheapest and they can go higher if you want a paper printout and more bells and whistles...
all worked well...the cheap ones were okay too.
In the states I bought one at Longs and here in Canada I got one a the local pharmacy and one at a Cargox a discount store it was the cheapest at $19.95.
You can also get them on line...and I am sure ebay has them too.
Why do you want one? Your the first person to mention that on any topic I have seen on CC. Just curious as I recommend them all the time for all weight loss people.
If you want instructions on how to properly use these devices please contact me by email..
I highly recommend the Polar F11. It uses a chest strap which gives you a more accurate reading then the standard wrist-only monitors.
They are a little pricey, but I've found mine to be well worth the money. With it's ability to beep at me when I'm not hitting my goal rate, it acts like a personal trainer.
They are often found on eBay, and also available on Amazon.com (not sure if there is an Autralia version of Amazon). http://www.amazon.com/Polar-Womens-Heart-Moni tor-Watch/dp/B000F6DV4Q/ref=tag_tdp_ptcn_edpp _url
If you do a forum search for heart rate monitors, you'll find that there have been quite a few threads on the topic.
EDIT: Here is a good article about selecting a monitorhttp://walking.about.com/od/heartratemonitor/ a/hrm.htm
Hey, thanks for the info :)
I want one so I can see my heart rate properly so I can be more sure of the calories I'm burning.
I don't think we have any of those stores here in Australia, but I can check the pharmacy I guess!
Thanks again :)
I have a Polar HRM, which I absolutely love, but mine was on the pricey side (mine was $200 U.S.), although they have more inexpensive models (I think from $30 up). The HRMs that Polar, Timex and some other brands make come with chest straps that get more accurate heart rates. I know the Polar ones give you calories burned. My friend bought a Timex that didn't calculate calories, so if that's what you're interested in, make sure it has that function. I would suggest looking at sporting goods stores for them. If you have a local store that specializes in running or biking, they're definately going to carry HRMs. My gym also sells them.
I second Polar. I think mine was $115, but I'm sure you can get a cheaper one online. If you can't find polar, it's best to make sure you find one that includes a chest strap (some don't have these and only have a ring or watch I think), and one where you can input your height, weight, and sex for the best accuracy.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
