Does anyone here regret their tattoos?

Quote  |  Reply

Cellulitedelights thread reminded of me of something i want to ask.  Does anyone regret getting their tattoo?  Ive always wanted a tattoo, but i honestly dont have anything that meaningful that i could think of.  I also dont mind getting a non-meaningful tattoo (something like a flower, maybe, thats just pretty).  Im just wondering how many people actually end up regretting their tattoo if it didnt have some hardcore, deep, emotional meaning to it.  I know its all relative and everyone feels different about their own tattoos, but i just thought i'd ask around.

I don't regret mine for a moment.  I love wearing art.

I occasionally think "wow, I would love to get that back art"...then realize I already have back art.

I don't regret getting my tattoos, but sometimes I think it would have been fun to change them around, but of course you can't do that.

I'm fond of my tattoos, because they all have sentimental value to me, so no, I don't regret them.

I have 2 and don't regret getting either. However, I did give their placement a lot of thought and decided on having them covered up - bikini area (front) and lower back. I would like to get another one but am having a hard time finding the right spot..

ETA: both of my tattoos have an emotional meaning.. I share the one on my back with 5 of my closest friends and also my partner, which makes it even more special.

I dont regret mine at all.... I dont love it, I dont hate it... I like it and what it stands for... but 90% i dont even think about it

did your tattoos have a personal meaning or was it just beautiful art?

I have had to have my wedding ring lasered off.

I had my first tattoo (spur of the moment flash selection at 18) covered with something more personal about 10 years later.

Other than that, I do not regret my other eight tattoos. I worked in a tattoo shop as a body piercer for eight years and collected a couple of others over the course of my tenure there. They were all custom and personal and I put a lot of thought into each one.

I will be getting another, very large one in April/May, once I meet my mid-term weight loss goal. I've had it planned for at least three years, so I have no fears about regretting it later.

Mine is personal,  Im in the military hence why my tattoos red white and blue

ive got three tattoos. one for a close friend who died, one for my beliefs, and one that nobody would udnerstand no matter how much i explain it.

my new one in thhe works has a meaning behind it i think at this point only three people know, my husband and 2 ccers, and it's not that im a **** alcoholic.

Very personal.  One is a memorial to my favorite guitarist, and the other honors my two best college girlfriends and a trip we took together.

Love my two tattoos, not a single atom of regret.  They were very personal, but also are beautiful art.  The first one I got as a fortieth birthday present to myself.

At some point, I'll get another, just not in the budget right now.

has anyone here gotten a tattoo just based on liking tattoos?

People don't get a tattoo because they dislike them.

"Im just wondering how many people actually end up regretting their tattoo if it didnt have some hardcore, deep, emotional meaning to it."

Nope, I don't regret a drop of ink, and therein lies the key.

I believe she means just liking tattoos in general and getting one for that reason (without a meaning to it).

I have 6. All have a personal meaning except for one (the one I got when I turned 18). The one without meaning I regret but I don't even think about it because it's so small. I've got mine all in places that can be covered without any problem. No one even knows I have any unless it comes up in conversation.

Yep. My first one, which is why it ended up being the only one I've had covered up.

There is nothing sadder than a tattoo that was done on young firm skin that has now, many decades later, aged and sagged into wrinkles.  With all the tattoos around, the nursing homes of the future are going to be filled with truely hideous sights.

maybe thatsw hy old people always wear muumuus.

A tattoo on a 19 year old's flat belly isn't going to hold up as well as a tattoo on someone's shoulder. Working in a tattoo shop for 8 years, I saw plenty of tattoos that had aged gracefully and some aged yeecccch. My tattoos are aging gracefully and I'll be showing them proudly for many more years to come.
