Does anyone here regret their tattoos?
Cellulitedelights thread reminded of me of something i want to ask. Does anyone regret getting their tattoo? Ive always wanted a tattoo, but i honestly dont have anything that meaningful that i could think of. I also dont mind getting a non-meaningful tattoo (something like a flower, maybe, thats just pretty). Im just wondering how many people actually end up regretting their tattoo if it didnt have some hardcore, deep, emotional meaning to it. I know its all relative and everyone feels different about their own tattoos, but i just thought i'd ask around.
I did my tatoo for my 18th birthday, i spent days, weeks in class making it, designing it until it was perfect.. it is a tribal design that i used to make everytime i doodled and then decided on the spot (lower back), how big i want it etc.. then i went to the tatoo place.. 2 hours of fun.. it didnt hurt and the guy (a indonesian bob marley look alike) made me laugh so much thus why it took so long to do it..
I had to hide it from my parents, the upcomming weekend we went to the islands and had to wear a shirt or a surfing shirt all the time to try to hide it.. then my mom saw it.. i was like oh dont worry its the tattoo ink that goes away in 3 weeks like you have in bali.. eheheh fooled them for the next weeks .. then after a month my mom spotted it again and asked me if i just redid it OR..... i was like hum.. OR..
They were quite cool about it, weirdly enough they were more cool about the tatoo then getting a belly button pierced (which is did 2 times once on my own, NEVER DO THAT, and once for my final exams)...Weird parents...
As it is in a location that i can not always see and that i can easily hide i dont regret it at all and it is my creation.. my ART
If you are comfortable and love a design then go for it.. think of the future, me its easy as i can hide it and when i will get old no one will really see it then its ok.. if i want it to be see i just put low waist pants and a top.. if i dont want it to be see then i put high waist pants
Find the rigth design for you, that represents you, that you feel great about it, take time choosing it and find the perfect location..
I regret how I got mine. They were done in a hurry, didn't know how long it'd be before I got the chance to get tattoos again. I should have spoken up about the coyote being lower and smaller, but I was distracted by being nervous. I also wish I'd waited and let my boyfriend design it. I love them for the fact they're something that kept me sane, art of things that mean and have meant so much to me. I'm probably going to get the coyote fixed up, since it's just an outline. Plus, it looks a little more like a wolf. I'd thought about them both for a long time, but I didn't have the design finalized yet, for the coyote. My other is a bird on my chest. It looks kind of like a three year old's drawing, but that's exactly how I wanted it. It's off the cover of an album, except turned right side up and made alive. My boyfriend designed it too. Although he did say, had I known how serious you were, I would have worked harder on it. My coyote is because my boyfriend's native american and it's his spirit animal. Even though I might break up with him or even grow to hate him, I'll never regret it, because he's been a huge part of my life. I think if you can find meaning in it and know why you got it, there's no point in regretting it.
And I can't remember who posted it, but they said they sometimes see something and think, "wow, that'd make a cool back piece. too bad I already have one." which is why I'm skeptical of getting some in some places. I want a back piece eventually, but I want to have places for everything I want eventually.
We'll also see how they look when I lose more weight.
Also, I work at McDonald's and my one manager (ex-manager now) had a rather large tattoo on her neck. Mine are easily hidden. Chest and hip, although the chest sometimes peeks out. I just wear hoodies and zip them up all the way if it needs to be hidden (some of my relatives would probably freak out).
