I am 22 5'6'' started at 186 on July 18th and I am down 5 lbs. I just had a baby and she will be 3 months old on Thursday! Is there anyone else that just started that would like to start a group to help motivate eachother?

I am 46 and 5'6" and was 158 last week.  Last summer I was 140.  I just started this calorie counter thing on Monday.  It's fun.  Helps me alot to be aware of what goes into my mouth.    I find all this extra blubber REALLY uncomfortable!  Just adjusting the seatbelt over belly rolls is super annoying.

I was just home on vacation and my Mom could not believe I had added 18 pounds since moving to Ohio.  Me either!  Her "observations" really opened my eyes.  (I am vain.  And fighting mid-life crises)

Cannot help getting older, but sure do not have to get fatter.  Yuck. Life's too short and there are too many cute things to wear, eh!

Nothing that attractive when you are tubby.  The answer to the question "does this make me look fat?"  Ha, FAT makes you look FAT.  And it feels so good to look good.  Not to mention have way more energy when you are dragging a 20 pound bag of dog food attached to your bottom!

I forgot to mention that I, too,  was 186 pounds at 5'6" for the summer of '06 and I was so embarassed I skipped going home for vacation.  For the next year I ate tons of canned greenbeans for snacks (with a little butter) and stuffed myself with tomatoes and cantalope and spinach by the bag full.  I LOVE TO EAT.  Just switched to low cal stuff.  And walk my dogs all the time.

I'm in, I have one day under my belt. This CC'ing is pretty good, keeps me thinking about what i'm eating all day. No BS going in anymore.

I'm 5'11" and 173. I was 190 at the end of college, and want to be again.

I'm old enough to be your mom and then some (I'm 52) but mentally I feel about 35. Been fighting my weight since third grade. Sometimes, I actually win! I started teaching 9 years ago, and that's when the pounds started packing on. I was so
TIRED all the time (teaching second grade does that to you!) so I just hit the couch instead of the street.

I just found this website today, after hearing on THE VIEW that counting calories and recording them works better than any other method -- calories in, calories out! I joined 24 Hour Fitness two months ago, and have been pretty faithful about working out every day. I missed last week, helping my sister with a day camp she was running, but we walked in the evenings, so I didn't relapse.

Congratulations on the sweet little one! We have two daughters, 19 and 24. Both in college. They are the lights of my life. Your sweetie will wear you out, but keep up the good work and don't give up.

Ya its funny I love this Calorie Counting thing I am almost obsessed with it and find it challenging to see how many calories I can burn off in one day! I am actually struggling with eating to little now! Once its past dinner I will still have like 3 or 400 calories left and know that I should eat something so i cram them in with a cookie lol! I don't want to get a to a plateau by eating to little ya know? but I know I shouldnt be eating cookies either lol!

Hi! I am returning to CC. Two years ago I was logging onto CC every day, was faithful about my logs, weight entries, etc and lost 20 pounds! Then I stopped logging in gradually and have now gained it all back. So. Here I am again. I can tell you that without CC I struggled a lot with weight loss but this made it really easy. I try to make sure I get 1/2 my calories in protein. I eat a lot of swiss chard and other leafy greens and try to make sure my breads and pastas are whole grain....and the cookies? I allow myself 100 calories a day in some sort of sweet. Without it I find I just binge anyway so might as well include it! I make sure I get an "A" every day on my analysis so I know I am eating OK. This site is a wonder!!

Cookie, LOL.  Thats priceless.  I don't get a A, B+ and up. Pretty good i'd say.  I like the fact that I will look at something, and know that when i add it to this website and my girlfriend sees it (she is also on calorie count) she will yell and point out how much sodium and things of that nature it contains.

I never knew rice had that many calories, i knew it was alot but yesterday i ate 1200 calories in rice alone. That aint right.

Wow 1200 cals in rice? I had sushi the other day and it felt pretty high carb...

I just started like an hour ago! I was looking for some motivation and this seems like a great website. A friend reccomended it to me. How do you alter CC's Daily Goal for the eat meter? Mine is too high...

I just started CC too and I'm off to a bad start!  I've just been informed it'll take me 3 years to lose the weight I need to!

I've been "a little overweight" my whole life and seemed to plateau at 210lbs but at 5'8" and a large frame that's very top heavy, that weight actually was a fairly healthy weight for me.  Sadly I moved to Florida and within 6 months had gained 70lbs!  In the following 6  years I got married and had 3 children.  I'm currently hovering around 275lbs and desperately want to lose it.  Unfortunately with the children and a new city, I became really isolated and started suffering horrible depression.  Depression causes weight gain and weight gain causes depression, really a vicious little cycle!

We've now moved back home and bought a house and the time has come to get my act together.  The extra weight is ruining my life, I can't play with my kids, I don't want to go out anywhere, enough is enough!

However, the road to hell is paved with good intentions right?  I'm having a hard time getting motivated to excercise.  Becoming a couch potatoe is so much easier than going the other way!  Unfortunately food is not my downfall nearly so much as the total lack of exercise.

So!  I'm gonna log on here and talk to you guys and hopefully I can motivate someone and recieve a little support in return!

Rena

PS: Someone was talking about going home on vacation and the effect that had on them.  I just went home to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary and of course had to have a family photo down.  I was shocked and appalled to see the photos.  I guess I feel a lot thinner than I look!Surprised

Yaaaaay! I'm excited about this thread and being a motivator for others and have others motivate me...I'm an emotional eater and sometimes I have a bit of a temper, when I feel it getting out of hand I HAVE to have a Coke. I mean seriously, like some people need a stiff drink, I need a STRONG Coke. When it's that time of the month I HAVE to have a piece of chocolate so hopefully you guys can help me through this :) This whole clean eating/fitness thing is new to me. I'm 26/5'2/153 lbs...weird because 2 months ago I weighed 173 lbs. I should add that I've never LOOKED as though I weigh as much as I do. The nurses at my Dr.s office usually think I'm lying and make me step on the scale every time. I have a weird body. So, I haven't actively done anything to lose the weight it just kind of came off (hmmm maybe because I'm in a new place, i'm a bit stressed, my cousin that I live with doesn't make fried foods, and I walk more since i sold my car). Anyway, one day my clothes literally started falling off and people were asking had I lost weight. I looked in the mirror and decided that I want to keep this new look because it's DAMN sexy. So now I want to put actual WORK into my body and lose another 14lbs by 9/2 (my birthday) so that I can be smaller than I was in high school :) any advice, motivation or encouragement you could give would be helpful and I will be sure to return the favor.

Like my screenname says I'm working toward Beyonce's Body lol

So I started all this, eating right, going back to the gym and have since lost 4 pounds. This is not cool. What the ****? F i'm pissed. Can someone says positive things to keep me going strong, like " Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness", "Shoot for the moon and you'll end up in the stars", " If you don't get everything you want, think of the things you don't get that you don't want"

Thats so obviously copy and pasted.

Yeah, i just started yesterday, lmao

im at.. 187, and i'm 5'5"

Wait, how long have you been working out and eating right? 4 pounds is great, if I lost four pounds I'd be happy, it means 6lbs left to my goal!! Don't be so hard on yourself maybe your body needs to adjust to the new transition. Or, maybe you need to step everything up a little bit? I'm sure you will be fine, takes time. And if all else fails "shoot for the moon and you'll end up in the stars" lol hope that made you laugh

I just started CC Monday too. I'm 21 5'4" and 186 (well that was what I weighed on July 14th when I started my diet, I'm to afraid to step on the scale for an update).

I'd really like to be a part of the group. It would help a lot to be able to talk with someone about whats working for them...trade some ideas and stuff.

thebevolution: Don't be so hard on yourself. Doing it the right way and losing it slow is better than some crash diet that'll cause you to gain it all back as soon as you stop. Think of 4lbs as an acheivement...a step in the rite direction.

Thanks for the support, but the main reason i'm mad, is that i weight 171 now, my target weight is 190. I'm trying to gain weight but lost it. Thats whats lame. I shoot for the moon but ended up in a ghetto back on earth.

I just bought a new cook book about high protein meals. I'm pumped. I like red meat.

Hi there. I just started the CC thing on the 23rd. I am starting out at around 240 on my 5'6 inch large frame, so I guess that means I'm the fat girl here!

My hubby promised me that if I could get to me goal weight (which is 165) he'll take me to Sandals! So..one way or another, I'm losing the weight!

I weighed 155 when he meant me, and 2 daughters later, here I am!!!

I find myself logging on daily, atleast so far! I am a stay at home Mom, which means I am rarely home at all, but I have been keeping a food and exercise log in a composition book and then entering the things on here when I get on. I like seeing if I made and progress!

Best wishes to all!!

Lisa

Ooooh lol I feel soo silly.  Well hmmmm, keep trying will get there. Even though i can't relate because I've never tried to gain weight :) I know it must be frustrating to get the opposite result of what you want.
