Im wanting motivation and I have to hear about people who have actually had success... and I want to know how long it took these people to lose the weight they wished to lose! I mean its great if you lost 10 lbs... if it took you 3  years of hard effort....not so great, lol. so if there is anyone with actually success... please tell us your story.

Hi Kaleb.  Welcome to calorie-count :)

There are lots of people here who are losing and who have kept it off.  Read back through the forums.

Why do you think reading never works or you are always hungry?  What are you doing?
i lost nearly 30 pounds, and im a skinny lad.

im a 16 year old, and its tough to be chubby at my age. ive kept it off for nearly a year and i know im a teen, but i am aware of my food intake and am ready to take on life as a maintainer.
I believe that as long as you are losing the desired weight, it still is a success no matter how long it takes. :)

It took me a year to be able to lose 10 lbs and keep it off. It's one thing to lose 10 in like 2 months, but to be able to keep that off is a lot harder than it seems. I still have 5lbs to lose before my goal, but I know with me it will take a while. People lose in all different ways and time frames. I've realized that I am not the type of person to lose weight quickly. Plus I prefer to lose the weight slowly because I know it will be a more permanent loss!

For me, this is a lifestyle change, not just a quick fix. It's matter of slowly changing habits and making good choices. That way I will be able to stay healthy forever!
Hey, I lost 10 pounds over 3 months!
So far I have lost around 10 pounds in about a month. Even more spectacular to me is that I am down to a size 12 pants and when I started, I was a size 16 or 18. I just recently dropped my weight below 190, which is exciting for me because I haven't weighed under 190 since I was a freshman in high school (like 9 years ago). Also, before I started calorie counting, I was 215 pounds (in December), and dropped to 200 by March (when I began logging here).
Kaleb, I lost 20 lbs in less than 2 months. I didn't think I was going to lose that much and it came off really slow at first, and then started to come off faster. I did it by using the tools here to figure out how many calories a day I should have and then planning how many calories for each meal and weighing and measuring portions until I knew what I was doing. I also read all the posts that interested and motivated me to help keep up my motivation during the slow times. If you make a plan and stick to it, it'll work, I promise!
I've lost 25 total.  15 since joining C-C.  Very jazzed about the whole thing and believe I'm on track to maintaining a healthy lifestyle thus forth.

Yes, it can work.  I was having motivation problems when I first signed on.  I had a person respond, can't remember whom, essentially stated that sometimes motivation has to come after the effort.

This was true in my case.  I had to just choose to do the work.  I lost a few pounds and voila, this success massaged my motivation.

Good Luck!

I'm down 100 pounds also, it took 18 days short of a year and honestly for me it was falling off a log easy. But in truth even if it were just that 10 pounds over three hard years for me it would be more then worth it just to have control over this part of my life.

If I hadn't of stopped eating the way I was I am sure I would be plus 10 pounds right now instead of minus 100 (well 101), next year maybe plus 20 or 30 ever increasing in a slow spiral up. Given the choice between ?10 and work and +10 and no control and no hope., I?d vote work.

I lost 50lbs in almost one year and have been maintaining for almost 2years.

First thing i did was cut all bad unhealthy foods and sweet foods, i dropped 10-15 right away, then got really really serious about eating only healthy and excercising 4x per week. it just kept falling off and about 10lbs was stress weight loss.
I've lost about 77 lbs since last June and am continuing to lose.  I'm losing more slowly now, 1 to 1.5 lbs per week, but I'm trying to not get frustrated and just enjoy the positives coming my way.  I have done it by counting calories the whole time and not having any forbidden foods.  Portion control, fitting it in, and never look back are my 3 mottos.  In other words, if I love something I eat it, just not too much, then I figure out the rest of my day to accomadate the calories.  If I slip up and overdo it I don't beat myself up and I just immediately get back with the program.
I came here to lose 16 lbs and am only currently down half of that...but I've also learned that muscle and body fat % means a LOT more than a number on the scale and I think I might be happy at this weight after all :)
I've lost 100 pounds and I'm going on 2 years for keeping it off.
I have lost 148 pounds and counting.  Read my profile for my story and believe me there are tons of others too.
I've still got a long way to go, but I feel successful already! I'm 41 years old, 5'7".  When I started Jan 14th, I weighed 225 lbs.  2 1/2 months later and I've lost 30 lbs!  I eat a lot, but I eat the right things so I'm never hungry and I still lose weight.  I get a little exercise in everyday, even if it's just walking for 30 minutes.  I feel better than I have in years.  I have so much more energy than I did before.  It's spring, I usually get sick in the spring because of my allergies.  I still have allergies, mind you, but I'm not literally sick from them!  I'm living proof that anyone can lose weight if they make a commitment, make smart food choices, and get some exercise.  It's amazing how much better I feel already, I can't wait until I get to see how I feel when I lose 50 more lbs!
I've lost 31 lbs in 66 days. Start weight 194.2 current weight 163.2

My stats, pics & info are in my journal! :)
Me too.  I'm just starting, but I've lost 8.5 pounds in five weeks, which is 1.7 pounds a week.  At first I was going to say that I did it without really trying, but then I realized that I have put a lot of effort into it.  I'm exercising more than I ever have... and enjoying it, strangely.  I'm eating less and much healthier.  I guess when I had thought to put "without really trying," what I really meant was "I could've lost more if I'd tried harder."  I am not too strict with myself.  I just keep trying to learn more about nutrition and fitness... and am also experimenting with new foods and recipes.

And I totally agree with the above comment.  Once you begin to see results, you'll feel inspired to work harder.  Getting started is the hard part.  After that, it can be kind of fun.
hang in there! it'll work. i have before/ after pics in my profile. ive lost about 40 pounds since december. 4 months. =]

I started my "new lifestyle" on June 13th of this year and as of today (almost 2 months) I've lost 25.2 lbs.  That seems like a lot to some people for 2 months but I had about 90 lbs to lose when I started so I've got a lot more than most people.  I started at 249 lbs and want to get down to 160 lbs.  Drinking water helps a lot with losing weight, it can make you feel full when you're craving something and it also helps your body metablize fat.  I probably drink more than I should (about 100-120 oz per day) but I think it's better than not drinking enough.  As of today I officially lost 10% of my body weight, which is awesome, and I'm 28.31% done with my weight loss.

With my hectic party lifestyle ..and crazy greek family where food is the center of our lives. I have managed to lose 30 pounds in less than a year!!! Eat less exercise more ...eat the foods you love and see results!

You can do this!
