Has anyone successfully shrunk their thighs?
I feel as if no matter how much weight I lose my thighs are always large. I've went from a size 13 to size 5 pant size but it feels like nothing has changed.
Anyway, if anyone has seen a difference in their thighs, I'd like to know their exercise routine, etc
I used to do naughty things to my thighs, and in an effort to get myself to stop, I was given a thigh buster doohickey. Basically a foam-padded bar that you squeeze between your thighs, and whenever I wanted to be naughty, I'd do one hundred reps on that thing. If I still wante to do it, I did another fifty, and another fifty, and another until I didn't want to be naughty anymore.
Dropped two pant sizes. Lost a lot of the cottage cheesey goodness in my thighs. Yeah, they used to be literally chunky, and while they've still got a few divets in them, they're not so bad.
These days that thing only makes me feel good about myself so long as I don't take a tape measure to my thighs, so I started pilates and am investing in a stepper (a stair master, but not so scary looking) and we'll see who's the boss of my body.
I'll let you know how it works out. =)
Lol okay.
Hm, maybe I should try biking and start using my thigh master thing again
theyre about 65% muscle now, after doing jari love's 55 min. get ripppped video 6 days straight =]
some people's legs arent meant to shrink, like mine, and if thats the case- muscle's better than flab, so you burn more!
g'luck with your thighs, moo-cow.
Swim, swim, swim...
I used to swim laps a few times a week and it worked wonders for my thighs. Especially if you swim on your back and use your legs more. However if you swim regular it's a great workout for your arms too.
So swimming, lunges, yoga.
got it. thanks =]
Just watch out for the biking. For some people, it'll make them leaner, and for others, it'll increase your thighs, though in pure muscle. My body type is like that. I build muscle really quickly on my legs, and technically, I'm not allowed biking because of it. Well, it's all in this body type diet and exercise book.
If you have a body type like mine, it'll be really hard for you to loose your thighs, actually more like, impossible. You could porportion them to your body though, but for yourself, you won't see a difference. Well, I can't see a difference on myself. Lost over 22 lbs and can't see what changed. It's everyone telling me, lol, but I can't see what they're saying. So it could be that situation for you. Where you had changes, you just don't notice them.
I thinned out from power walking and increased my upper body to be more in proportion with my lower by doing weight lifting to build up my upper body. Lost 22lbs in 2 months that way, still loosing. Oh yeah, and also, my calorie intake is much lower than what it was.
So watching what you eat, and full body work out. That combo is the best way to reshape your body and loose weight.
lol, I was thinking about video games before I read the wii part. Yeah, games do that. It's the same when I play on the wii or I play DDR (dance dance revolution) on the PS2. I go on for hours without realizing it. I had to have my mom yell at me before I realized I was gathering points till night on the DDR and covered in sweat. I'm addicted to every type of game except for sport games on game councils, except for the wii and the Mario sports games (to me, they don't count as a video game and I'm a hard core gamer).
My brother just got Guitar Hero II for the ps2, I'm getting Guitar Hero III for the wii on the end of october. So I'll have more reasons to "work out". lol, sorry, couldn't help that.
I work out for real, not just on games. The morning workouts alone seem to be helping me loose weight fast. I stopped walking in the evening though. My body been getting to exhausted, especially since my calorie count is low. The morning workouts I have no problem with, since I do it before anyone is awake and I'm half asleep myself. I power walk for 40 minutes, then come home for stretches, calisthenics, and then my weight lifting (the weight lifting is every other day).
I can keep that up for my life, since after the workout I'm pretty much awake and feel like no time been waisted. My body is already use to waking up early, so I'm usually already laying and waiting for my alarm to go off.
Now all that talk about video games is making me want to play. Good luck with finding what works for you, moomooslimcow.
Pick up one of those activities (of course it's going to be really hard at first).
I tried to pick up running, but it's hard on my back and knees since I'm so out of shape.
So.. my smart and loving b/f went out and bought a pair of used mountain bikes for the both of us and now we ride bikes. It's a lot harder than I remember when I was a kid, it's kinda embarrassing because he's in great shape, thankfully he's really supportive and doesn't bitch when I need to stop. Bikers have nice buns right?
Ice skaters have nice buns too.... but I have weak ankles, and I'm not paying 20 bucks to skate for an hour >>;
I'm pear shaped too, did you know that a lot of other women are actually jealous of that? I hear it a lot actually from my skinny apple shaped friends. "Yeah I have some boobs, but no curves on the bottom, I feel like a boy sometimes!". I know it's hard but, for everyone the grass is always greener on the other side. Meaning everyone wants what they can't have. Hips are sexy. =)
Yeah. Definitely watch the biking and the squat rack.
I taught spin classes for 2 years and began lifting heavy. All the women in my family build muscle in the legs easily, so all that work definitely bulked up my thighs, but it allowed me to bike 100 miles in 6.5 hours... so I guess it depends what you want to do.
I am currently living in Poland and am without my bike and without my gym membership. I basically power-walk to and from class (about 1 hour to - 1.5 hours). Already, I feel as though I'm losing weight, but I can't be certain as I don't have a scale.
Also, my calorie intake has severely, albeit naturally, dropped off.
My theighs are always the first place I gain weight and the last place I lose it.
Ironically, the only time in my life that I've ever had success in shrinking them was when I was not really trying to. Now, that doesn't mean I was sitting on my couch all day eating cheetos, but I was not doing counting calories or weighing myself or specifically trying to work my leg muscles. It occurred when in college, I decided to start martial arts. I wasn't doing it to lose weight or get healthy, I just wanted to do it for fun and the possibility of maybe getting to kick some @$$ in the process.
I was eating the same as always, but I quickly became addicted to it. I went from an hour a day, 2 days a week, to 2 hours a day-3 days a week. Within a year, I was working out everyday, some times up to 3 times a day. This lasted about 3 years...I was down to a healthy weight which I was able to maintain easily, and I felt GREAT. My theighs were firm and muscular and smaller then they've ever been. When I think back to all the junk food and fried crap that I was eating back then, it makes we wonder how great I would have looked if I had actually been making healthy eating choices and doing all that exercise simultaneously.
Well, when I got out of college, I stopped martial arts cuz it was expensive and nearly immediately gained 50lbs. Awesome....
Ok...so that long drawn out story is all to say: no, spot-training might not be possible but I know that certain things do work. I was doing hundreds of kicks per day in a variety of possitions to work all the muscles in my butt and theighs....fast high kicks, slow ones with leg weights, low and hard ones. Add to that mix that every day I was stretching my legs with yoga-like streches for at least 30 minutes. Situps and pushups every single day. About once a week, I was doing circuit training that pushed me to the very limit. All these things benefited my legs because I was moving them...a lot...
But a workout plan like that is not the moral of the story I don't think. The moral of the story is that I found something that I LOVED. I loved the people I was with, I loved my instructor, I loved the act of karate and all the history behind it, I loved preparing my body for the previlige of stepping inside a sparring ring and all the traditions/pomp and circumstance that went along with.
You have to find something you love to do and stick with it. No matter how great a workout plan you have...if you hate doing it, you will not put in the effort needed to really succeed. That's just human nature. I was burning so many calories in karate, but I never ever felt like I was 'working out.' I never had to say, 'well...i guess i have to go to the gym' because I couldn't WAIT to get there, to see my friends and do what I loved.
So find your thing....whether it be tennis, dancing, hiking, kickboxing, spinning, lifting, martial arts, running, biking....there's got to be something out there that will ignite a passion in your soul for moving and won't feel like a chore of drudgery.
Alright...I know that this was a crazy long post that got way off topic but I think I needed to hear myself say it more than anyone...thanks for letting me indulge myself.

Agree w/ Lys, Yes to Kickboxing!!! my thighs have shrunk!!! even when I gain a few xtra pounds here and there, my tummy may go up and down, but my thighs are still tight! woot woot... love it! kickboxing for sure!
I lost about 50lbs and my thighs did shrink 4 inches in each to be exact however, they are still proportionately large compared to the rest of my body. Every one has a different way that their bodies are proportioned some women have large hips, breasts, or butts and just like thighs your proportions won't ever change that much. The size of your body overall will. Pears will never be hourglasses and apples will never be pears, ya know what I mean.
