Anyone have any suggestions to keep motivated?
Hi, I have five children, I write that like it suppose to explain so much, haha, I suppose it does. Time management is obviously an issue, but I try best I can to stick with a routine of sorts, I find that I have a hard time doing cardio and strength training and some other activity in the same day. I try to combine for example I will do cardio at kid's nap time, and then before supper take the kids for a walk, which they love, but then I wont I feel like doing any strength training or switch that up. I either do one thing but then thats it....sometimes I do two things, sometimes, and thats what I need help with staying motivated for, anyone suggestions on how I can keep myself going to get in that extra time of activities?
Remember that your health is important to your kids' well being. If you're not healthy, how will you take care of them?
Try including your kids in your fitness routine. I think its really awesome that you take them with you on your evening stroll. Its good quality time spent together, good for their health, and sets a good example for them. You could also try playing a sport with them, like basketball or back-yard football. That might be really fun and will also keep your heart rate going.
hi
mother of (only) 2 here. yeah, agree with danaofdoom - a game of catch is an excellent cardio workout and your kids will love you for it.
finding time for strength will be a tad tougher, but consider doing it even if kids are around. They'll interrupt more in the beginning, then they'll get used to it and leave you to it, I think.
I can help think of more ideas - depending on how old they are?
BTW: it's really great that you are taking care of your health despite being so busy!
PS
thank you, very useful suggestions, and I totally agree with needing to be around for my children and hopefully God-willing I can be around for my grandchildren...Take care of yourselves and happy counting....I just started on here so if anyone would like to add me to their friends list I would be honored...thank you!
I personally love Leslie Sansone's walk away the pounds dvds. Several of them incorporate hand weights into the exercise so you can do both cardio and a bit up upper body weight lifting at the same time! They're a great workout too.
