I'm a dieting veteran.... up and down the same 20lbs since highschool! I've always lost it on Weight Watchers...but I wanted to try something new. So, here I am. I'm looking to start a group of late 20- early 30 year olds who are interested in losing weight and getting healthy. I'm 5' 9" 160lbs. I'm looking for others that have about 20-30lbs to lose. Hopefully there's some people out there!!
Happy New Year!
i feel like celebrating
. i finally hit the 140's for the first time in forever. i've been in the 150's for years, and accidently slipped to the 160's late last year which prompted me to get my butt into gear. so now i am 148 lbs from 151.
my mini incentive right now is that i'm going to a spa at the end of this month with my girlfriends and a couple guys (yup, the men are tag'n along), so i am anxious about THAT! we'll see what i can accomplish in the next two weeks. hopefully 6 more pounds will be gone by then. that would certainly make my day!
one thing.. i find it extremely hard to drink so much water. i usually consume it ALL once i get home from work which is at 5pm.... so between 5pm and midnight i drink 50-60 ounces. tried to spread it out throughout the work day, but ppl were starting to notice the frequent bathroom breaks which were always ill-timed. arrggg!!!
Hi everyone! My weight is slowly moving in the right directions again. My weigh in is at 151 hoping by Friday to be 150.
Missea1- Bravo for finding yourself a new doctor. I totally agree with him and you that the BMI is just a tool to help us, but doesn't tell us the whole story. We must look at the bigger picture to see if we are healthy or not. Don't let those stupid measures tell us what we know better!... *mini rant*... like the scale... my husband is concerned because he's gotten above 80 kilos and worries that he's over-weight, but we've been exercising more and he's been lifting every morning. So I say it's just muscle... but I can see that that NUMBER means more to him than it should. But hey, we're all guilty of that, aren't we?... :)
samiaz- YEAH!!!! 148! I'll see you there soon. :)
Congrats to all who have seen a loss this week!!!
I've managed to maintain this week (especially exciting since I'm "being a girl"... I guess drinking a lot of water helps to curb the girlie weight gain!).
Last week: 168
This week: 168
Hurray, more new people! Welcome everyone! Lesanco sounds like you know what to do to get to your goals :)
And it sounds like everyone else is being super-healthy too. It's hard in the middle of February! Samiaz, that's awesome being down in the 140s.
WAY TO GO SAMIAZ!!!! A suggestion I have for maybe adding water to your day would be to mix the Crystal light on the go packets in with a bottle of water and if possible carry it with you when you go. Calories aren't to high and it makes drinking water much easier for those of us that can't stand water(Pointing at myself)
Haveyjb-Way to maintain! Alteast no gaining there. Thats a positive.
Ever have the weeks where ya just feel fatter than you did? Man this week is like I just feel bloated and it sux. Maybe hitting the gym later will help.
Welcome to you newbies![]()
I cheated...(ok I cheat almost every day) this morning I stepped on the scale and saw 187.0...nice little surprise. Now I've lost 12 pounds since Jan 3rd, not to bad for that TOM (which should end Wed. just in time for official weigh in day!
Random: Oh and I found out I am 5ft 6 in...I thought I was 5ft 4in...nice little surprise
Great news: I have been able to give 2 pair of jeans to my sister and 4 pair to a lady at church, YEAH!!! They have both been losing weight and carefully watching their budget, I'm glad they can help me with my over stocked closet of jeans!
Paige, I totally know the feeling, regardless of the scale number I just feel fatter (is that a word?) some days. (usually that means I need to poop...maybe you need to eat some prunes
)
GRRRRRR EDIT: I must have been dreaming...I'm only 5 ft 5 in...sad day ![]()
Kate, maybe during your training you turned a lot of fat into muscle, which ways more, but is smaller. Have you lost inches, gone down in clothing size? Also, when you come up with the 1600 calories, are you sure you're measuring accurately? (Ie, did you actually weigh or measure everything you ate?) If so, maybe your intake along with your workouts are sending your body into starvation mode and it's holding on to fat - you might actually need to eat more?Reply:
Yes I did measure my self, I actually found that my arms got a lot fatter. For instance, my shirts are too tight and can't be worn anymore
Secondly, I didn't lose any inches (on my stomach that is, but my legs are about the same), but I do agree that I may have gained more muscle.
I do weigh all my meat, and for my other food I use small 1/2cup and 1 cup containers so I have a fairly good idea about how much I am eating in a day. I usually eat dry cottage cheese, lean meats, small sandwich with low-fat turkey and mustard, spinach salads with lemon, fruits and other veggies and egg whites occasionally. I sometimes snack on a 1/4 cup of almonds or oatmeal...so I think I am doing ok.
I do ashtange yoga 4 times a week now and do weight training twice a week and take the dog for long walks everyother day. I believe that I should be losing something...

That's where my two inches went to!!! That's okay, at least I'm short for a good cause. ![]()

Sad Day...I must have been crazy or something turns out I'm 5ft 5in...so I guess you can have 1 inch back...sorry about the confusion...
Total loss for this week 1.4 pounds...I think I need to actually exercise if I want to see the 2 pound loss again...for some reason it is much easier to watch what I eat than add in the exercise...I must be lazy...
Why do I use so many ...'s, I wonder if there is a ... anonymous club or something...maybe a 12 step program to get the ...'s under control. Seriously I think I have issues...
I have em dash issues. It's OK. You can write in short choppy sentences instead. It seems almost military.
No wait, don't!
I guess I'm lazy as well. I haven't exercised in ages. Eating healthy is fine for me because I actually l ike the food that I'm getting. Exercise is just not fun for me right now.
I have the same problem exercising. It used to be fun for me, but now I just get bored with it. Who's up for a challenge? Why don't we all try to do at least one activity this weekend that lets us get some exercise AND enjoy ourselves. We can post on Monday (or Tuesday due to the holiday) and see what everyone did to get some different ideas.
Any takers?
hello friends!
i feel like i haven't posted in forever, i weighed in on monday at 126 but just never got online to post it...so, i've lost 6 pounds since january 3rd. not bad! I FEAR the scale on monday, though because this week has been disasterous!!! valentines day has done me in (can anyone say molten lava cake??)
i am feeling all of you lovely ladies who have been neglecting exercise...i haven't exercised in weeks and i NEED to get back on track. i'm in for the challenge...
kudos to you, samiaz! welcome new members!
thanks everyone for the postive vibes! well, valentine's did me in too yesterday. chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate, plus dipped in the peanut butter jar.
and for exercising... i fell off. i'm gonna try to do an hour on saturday and sunday.
my ultimate goal is by the beginning of May ( in time for the summer months and my beach vacation). so i still have time to repair my plan.
good luck everyone.
Agggggghhhhhh! *sigh*
Feeling discouraged. I keep bouncing between the same 2 lbs. I think I'm going to kick my butt into high gear. Goal by Friday: 150
Innocent_sin - This weekend I ran with my DH and our lab in a pretty park. I did 15 minutes longer than normal which was HUGE for me.
what a horrible weekend. i won't even get on the scale to see the damage.... and today! talk about over indulging with chocolate. i just kept going and going. someone brought in a box of chocolate at work, and it was pretty obvious that i was dipping more than anyone else. to make things worse, i bought more chocolate at lunch from a vending maching AS someone was giving me a piece of their's.
i know how you feel foxylady. i feel like i'm losing my motivation at times.i really need to learn portion control and moderation. if i stay away .. i'm good, but just one piece, and it's over! ( that's why i have a ban on fries)
as for exercising this weekend...didn't happen. i was studying morning till night.
BUT, i refuse to give up. i'm going to reach my goal ( 13-18 lbs left) ... and SO WILL YOU!
Well eventhough it's not the best news I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that has like fallen off the side of the cliff. This past weekend just sent me over. I added the 44oz regular cokes all the time and just eating junk food and man I feel fatter than before.
The workouts aren't there except walking the stairs here at work so it's been tough. I gotto get back on track! Lots of stresses around me right now though so it's way tough. I haven't even gotten on the scale and I'm afraid to see what that says. What if I gained all my 7 pounds I lost back! I will be way discouraged!
I think another thing that's bothering me terribly is that I have nice dressslacks a size 16 and those used to be loose and are now tight on me. My blue jeans are a 14 and fit ok but are getting snug. Help me to get back on track!
Sometimes it's OK totext in a restaurant.
