Anyone in their late 20s?!

Quote  |  Reply

I'm a dieting veteran.... up and down the same 20lbs since highschool! I've always lost it on Weight Watchers...but I wanted to try something new. So, here I am. I'm looking to start a group of late 20- early 30 year olds who are interested in losing weight and getting healthy. I'm 5' 9" 160lbs.  I'm looking for others that have about 20-30lbs to lose.  Hopefully there's some people out there!!

Happy New Year!

Hi ,

I am 27 ,5.1" and weigh 177 lbs.

I am here to loose about 50 lbs asap.

And I am new to the whole weight loss thing as I never had time.

Please send me any diet plans or workout plans that you guys followed to loose weight.

Thanks

You guys are amazing.  So...if we're trying to lose 2-5 lbs by the end of January, should we do weekly weigh-ins just to keep track?  Any other suggestions?

Quick question--has anyone noticed the boards actually being OVERTAKEN by the Anorexic Army lately?  I feel like EVERY single post I click on is one of the following: 1) I ate 3 cherries and 4 stalks of broccoli today.  I am such a heifer.  OR 2) OMG!!!  I completely binged and ate 5000 calories today and I usually only allow myself 300.  OR 3) I'm 15, 105 lbs and want to weigh 85...any advice?

C'mon ladies, let's show these young girls that strong and healthy is sexy--and you don't have to starve yourself to get there!

Okay, I like you ladies.  I just turned 29 (yikes!) and am 5'1", 138 pounds.  I'm looking to lose a little more, get to a healthy BMI, exercise more, drink more water, and eat more healthfully.

Hey Girls!

Staying on track this week! yahoo! This is actually the first time I'm sticking with this whole diet thing...and it feels great! I agree with you, lin27, that actually having to log in everything i put in my body is helping me from "mindless t.v. eating".  I was famous for that!  I am definitely in for the 2-5 lb. loss by the end of January.

Current Weight: 131

Long Term Goal: 110 by May 17th (anniversary!)  at 4'10" it's should be reasonable, right?? I'm hoping!!

Exercise Goal: Alternate cardio one day and Yoga the next

Keep up the good work everyone!!

HI gals,

i just found this site and am determined to make it work! I have never been much of a dieter, just eating healthy and big time runner. But I got married in August and have not only eaten like crazy, drank a lot and didn't work out AT ALL. So I have exploded from 117 to 137 and my body just feels terrible. None of my clothes fit and I've grown out of my bras.  I am 5'2" and am determined to lose at least 20lbs.   So count me in!

SOOO No more alcohol, try to get back into at least walking, and 1200 calories a day.

Going skiing this weekend so hopefully by Sunday I'll have a successful weigh in!

Good luck to everyone!

girlafraid  that point where the bras don't fit is always my trigger to lose weight too! It's like denial, denial, denial, going along fine with the denial, four pounds won't hurt, ten pounds won't hurt ... and then the bra doesn't fit and I'm like "ok, reality check, you should NOT have stopped caring!"

runnergirl yes, I too have noticed the Anorexic Army (LOVE that name!)  .... trying to be really discerning with the posts I read and figure out from the title of the thread if it's going to be one of those "I'm almost as fat as Kate Moss" ones.

dptvas welcome and good luck! All that works for me is saying no to the junk food (chips).  At the start just moving around more EVERY day helps (stairs instead of the elevator kind of thing), but then really have to do at least 30 minutes of cardio a few days a week - and make sure you break a sweat.

Hi ladies!

When are they gonna get the "groups" section up and running, this group is awesome.

I'm 26/5'6/153ish (depending on how I step on  my scale Embarassed) and started from 176 in April.

I'm in desperate need of motivation (had dessert twice yesterday) and this is just the ticket.

I'm a yogi (in my mind; I've been a flake since I moved abroad), a light runner (4-5k four days a week) and love adventure of every kind.

Today I WILL run.  How are you all doing??

p.s.  I feel overwheled by the AA (anorexic army) too, they're everywhere!  I agree with runnergirl, let's show them how to do it. Strong and healthy is sexy!

Hey girls!  I just had to share!  As of this morning I've lost 30 pounds and I'm at 135.5!  I'm so happy!

Congratulations andreablevins!!  It's messages like yours that keep us all motivated!!

Hey all,

I'm new and 27 F 5'6. I have 2 daughters and my youngest is 5 now so me using the "I still have the baby weight" excuse is definately out! I'm 198 now and want to get down to around 145-150. I've been walking since Jan 2nd and so far its going well.

My husband and I are going on a cruise in April so i gotto get in gear. Anyone in TX or the States? Looking for more friends with stats close to mine to keep the motivation up.:)

Hi paige98,

Some advise for when you get to the cruise . . . stay busy!!!  During the cruise and when you come back.  I just got back from a cruise over the holidays, and while I felt fine on the cruise because we were always active, I kept up the "carefree" attitude when I came home.  However, it's not that easy to be active in the winter when you live in New England.  The weight just seemed to appear out of no where.  Just a tip, but make sure you enjoy yourself above all else!

Yea I hear ya, I will for sure keep active. I made it on the stairs here at work and I'm still just a staying focused. Thanks for the advice. This is our first cruise so there will be so much to see. I'm going to walk all over.lol

All right!  I weighed myself today, and came in at 170.5 lbs, which is down 4.5 from the start of January.  It hasn't even seemed like that much of an effort.  I've been keeping up with my workouts, but the main thing has been that I've been logging my calories, and really thinking about eating rather than just eating mindlessly.

Good luck everyone else!

Great Job lin27!  I have also lost 4 since the 2nd.  I think we just eat so mindlessly in normal life that when we actually pay attention it isn't as hard as we thought.

Keep up the great work everyone!

We weigh in on Saturdays, right?  Well, I started at 163 last week and this morning my scale read 160, which I don't believe.  Cuz it said 161 on Tuesday and then moved right back to 163 the next day.  Grrr....

Hey Guys,

It seems to be mostly ladies in this post, but I though I would throw my hat in the ring.  I'm male, 26, six feet tall and about 205.  I'm a nuclear engineer, and spend most of my day at a desk, I also have a roughly 1 hour commute.  So I spend a lot of the day on my butt!  My girlfriend and I have always eaten fairly 'healthy' (I love cooking), but, our portions have crept up to the point that the plate has to be full for it to be a meal.  I've just recently started logging my calories and exercise (I try to get to the gym 4 times a week at least).  My girlfriend has been studying for the MCAT, andwill probably be going to vet school soon, so I will have the time to commit to the gym, hoping to get down to around 170.  Am I allowed to join?!?!

If anyone knows of a 'guy specific' thread I'll gladly go there!

I don't think this is intended to be all-female, but welcome Token Male :)  Glad to hear you're starting to pay more attention to the portion sizes and making time for exercise - good for you!

Welcome mcgarnigle! I'm sure you'll be amazed at how fast you lose the weight. My husband lost about 20-25 lbs since October (He was 205, and now 181, 5'10"), and he made just a few minor changes to his diet. Guys have it way easier to lose weight!

Congrats to all who have lost so far!! I have lost 3 lbs this month myself...depending on the day Wink. Sometimes I am 155 when I wake up, and some days I am 157. My weight fluctuates alot!!! But I was 162 at Xmas, so I can't complain!

Hey smmca!  Thanks for the comment.  Is your husband logged in here?  I wouldn't mind asking him how it went!
