Anyone do their measurements?
Does anyone take measurements as well as weigh (or in place of weighing)? I weigh every Thursday morning & I measure my waist, hips, and thighs then too.
I think it gives me a better view of my overall progress. For example, this month (my first month of my weight loss journey) I have only lost 3 lbs... But I've lost 9 inchestotal. To break that up for you, I've lost 3.25" from my waist, 1.25" from my hips, and 4.5" from my thighs.
So, since I haven't lost that much weight and yet I'm losing quite a bit in inches, I know that my exercising is really helping me. It must be that I am getting toned up, gaining muscle... And so my actual weight loss will be minuscule while my inches seem to be melting. It definitely keeps me motivated.
Anyway, if you do take your measurements, how often do you do it? What all do you measure? And any other info you wanna share in regards to measuring?
CONGRATS on the inches AND pounds lost!!!
I took my measurements near the beginning of the month and I tried checking on them just the other day but they hadn't noticeably changed (I can't remember if I had the tape measure tight or loose the first time...) so I guess three weeks was too soon! At least the scale is giving me validation. (also, I'm so heavy that I'm sure it's going to take a long time for m to really shrink down because there's so much surface area to shrink!) A thin person is going to notice that eight or ten pounds lost much more than I am...
EDIT - I see you're not THAT much smaller than me! You must really be exercising hard to see such a big improvement... congratulations!
I take my measurements every few weeks. Since I just started that one, I have yet to track it against anything, but I look forward to seeing the difference. I seem to gain weight evenly, so it will be interesting to see if I lose it evenly.
BTW - CONGRATS!!! Hopefully I will see some great changes in my body as well.
Well, I am down 5 lbs. over November (now I'm at 200) and I lost a total of 9.75". Waist 3", Hips 1", and thighs 5.75".
I workout by riding a stationary bike for 30 minutes daily (every day but Sunday) and do Calisthenics 3x a week, for 20 minutes each day. I think the bike is really helping my thighs, since I saw such a big improvement on them so quickly.
Thanks for all your replies!
Hi! I was just wondering when you guys measure your thighs/calves if you do it standing or sitting? I don't see how it could make much difference, I mean, they can't actually get bigger just by being moved a little... but that said, I'm willing to listen to any advice or opinions! Thanks!
Btw, mandi, we're pretty similar! Aside from our age difference, anyway--I'm 29. I'm 5'2" and starting at 210 lbs. I'm wearing sizes 16/18 in jeans right now.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
