I started at 124 and got down to 112 by keeping my calories to 1200 per day and exercising 5 days a week. 2 days weight train and 3 days cardio. It was hard, but the less you've got to lose, the harder it is.
It worked for me, but I was also seeing a nutritionist, she helped me a lot.

I started at 138 and I am at 123 right now. I've tried keeping my calories at 1300 and I've been excerising (mostly cardio) 5-6 days a week. I am trying to get to 115 and it is HARD!
wow so this does work have you girls ever done weight watchers to track pts. I did lol doesnt work for me . email me momof3lovebugs@aol.com I would love a email buddy tell me what you eat please.
Wow good job girls I would love to be 123ish again! Yes please divulge all your secrets!!!
I was 150 and am now 126. 8 pounds more to go.
I did it all by food control - I try to move more, and I'll occassionally do an exercise video, but I don't have a work-out routine.

I was wondering what you guys eat on a normal day... How many pounds are you losing per week?
natalie_savino!
geeeeez! how long did it take?!?!!

I started "watching" my intake and moving more on Jan. 2. Jan. 9 I found this website and actually started counting my calories, choosing healthier foods, etc. So it has taken me awhile to lose 15-16 pounds. I just broke through a 4 week plateau today so I've lost a total of 16 pounds. . . I'm at 122. I'm barely 5'1" and it has been difficult losing. Well, not difficult, just really slow. They say that's good, right? A lady at work is doing WW and she said the leader told them it's hard for shorter/smaller people to lose weight. But who knows?!
I am currently at 127, at my heaviest I was 165+ I look at it as
a lifestyle change. I exercise at least a little every day.
I also count calories and have been studying nutrition and trying to
make healthier choices, learning new but yummy ways of cooking good
foods that are nutrient dense etc.
I do mostly calisthenic type exercises ie pushups, jumping jacks with five pound dumbells, squats, plies, lunges, and I lift weights. I also was walking/hiking 2.5 miles a day 2 to 3 days per week but the weather went to crap and that has sort of fallen by the wayside, at least for now. I plan to get back into it.
The most important thing is to not lead a sedentary lifestyle. Get up and move. I don't allow myself to just sit and watch TV. I have certain times I like to watch certain shows (which I limit) and during them I lift weights, do leg lifts, anything that keeps me from being a couch potato. That and tracking what i eat is all I've done. I look and feel better than I ever did in my life and I have tons of energy :)
You can see before and (almost) after pics of me in my profile. I plan to put some more new ones up soon as well.

Jeez, this is such good motivation! I started around 143...seriously started tracking cals around 135...and now fluctuate between 130-133. I just can't hit the 120s! My goal is 112.
SO difficult!!
SO difficult!!
Hey chrissy100,
The first two months while I was seeing a nutritionist, she told me exacly what I had to eat and I exercised 3 times a week. I wasn't losing any weight, I just kinda got stuck at the same weight(124). So I started getting fustrated and started working out 5 times a week and kept my carbs low (my nutritionist suggested I follow the 'GI Diet') where most of my carbs come from fruits and vegetables, while keeping my GI low and still consuming 1200 calories/day.
When I modified my exercise and consumed low GI foods, I started seeing the weight DROP, it took about 'almost' 3 months for me to drop 12 pounds. The best thing is, now that I've taken it as a healthy lifestyle, I can indulge once a month and feel good about it.
MAMACALS - I suggest you grab the "GI Diet" book and out of the foods you CAN/LIKE to eat, make your own meal plan while still sticking to 1200 - 1300 cals a day. I also think that exercising helped me 100%.

I want to be able to "indulge" once a month also. Is is really hard to wait that long to treat yourself? What do you consider a treat... like a candy bar or like a whole meal, dessert?
I guess it would be to your discretion. Endulging for me would be having a big bowl of pasta with some rose sauce, or if I'm good during dinner, then indulge on some icecream. Half a portion of cheesecake.
In the GI book, he doesn't deprive you of anything, he even allows desserts and gives you recepies. Ofcouse, at the beginning, for maximum weight loss results, I just stuck to the healthiest as possible.

girls what do you eat please tell me
natelie thank you. I walk 30min a day I have toddlers so it makes it hard. I am gonan use that advice to aim for 1200 can you email me at my email ad and you can encourage me please.
If my scale is telling the truth, I'm down to 125 now ^_^ . Still have about 15 more to go to reach my goal weight ('cause I'm 5'1" and 125 is still fat on me :-P ), but I've come a long way! My starting weight was 187.
How I got to this weight, well, I started off with healthier foods and aerobics videos. Then I couldn't do aerobics videos, so I got a little trampoline that I'd kinds fast boingy-walk on for 45 mins per day. Later I increased that to an hour a day, and still later to an hour and a half. Once I was able to do aerobics videos again, I started doing an aerobics vid and my 90 mins of boinginess per day. When I found myself stuck around 130 despite all that exercise, I started keeping a diet journal to track my calories.
I found this place while looking online for calories in foods with no nutrition labels. Once I joined, I found out I was getting too little protein, so I've been trying to increase that (without increasing fat, which is hard, but I'm working on it!). I do try to be conscious of carbs, too, but so far I haven't tried as hard to cut down on those as I have to increase protein and keep down fat.
Lately I've found I'm a bit obsessed with weight loss, so I'm trying to cut back my exercise a little. That's also hard, 'cause I feel really lazy if I don't burn at least 500 cals per day with exercise. . . especially when some people say they burn like 900 -_-;;; !

when i started i was 129 then i dropped to 123. But now I seem to be stuck at stupid 123! I don't know how to overcome this annoying plateau.
I am currently 124, and I am trying to get to 110 by May 20th... I am 5'2'', so 124 is still a lot for me. I don't know what I am doing wrong, cuz honestly, I barely eat... I work out like crazy too. I hope that it is just a phase, and eventually, the pounds will start shedding again. I am 18 years old, and I want to get back to a normal weight for me before I go back home... Any help, tips, or anything from you guys would be great. I read the posts on this forum topic, and I have already been encouraged...maybe there is hope for me...thanks!
Hi, mama, I am at about 120 + or -, and am 5'2", I will type to you and we can swap recipes if you like! I eat everything in sight, I average over 2000 calories a day (oink, compared to you other folks, huh?), and I drink wine at lunch and dinner. I cannot lose weight even though I am walking the dog about 8 km in the AM, and I do weights in the gym 5x a week. I got so fed up with the scale sticking that I skipped breakfast and lunch yesterday and the scale registered that I lost a kilo (2 lbs) this morning - has to be water because we eat really salty food. We also eat out way too much, it drives me nuts, I think that's why I'm stuck at my weight? Nancy
wow!!! nancy1967 tell me your secret... I eat about 600-800 calories a day, and I cannot even keep a stable 120. I am always having to basically eat nothing, just to keep from gaining weight. I am trying to get down to 110, but I am having to eat practically nothing to get there, and I work out vigorously almost every day. what is your secret???
