Ive battled with my weight my whole life(if you want to know more you can check out my profile)and Im looking for people like me out there, close to my age who can relate to what I am going through. Im doing the 12 week exercise program and so far Im doing really good (just finished day 8)! I would love to get a group together to share progress and challenges and failures etc. Anyone?
Hi Everyone!! Sorry my post on 1/19 was so short and to the point and sorry I've been missing! :) Looks like you guys are doing great!! I'm managing, just had tons going on around here and was lax about posting. I've been on here but haven't posted on any thread.
So the skinny - I've gotten down to a newest low 138.4 lbs and am aiming for 135 in the next 2 weeks. Just posted in my journal - my skinny jeans fit!! I've been somewhat at a plateau but not totally. No drastic loss, slow, very slow at times, and steady. I've been lazy working out lately but still sticking to it. The next few days will be serious and I'll be working hard on working out. I'm going skiing this weekend Thurs-Sun, with 2 full days of skiing and tubing. Good exercise and loads of fun w/ a crazy group of 11 peeps. PLUS the biggest news that's kept me so busy and away from here --- I've accepted a job offer! I've been at my current company over 3 yrs so it will be a big change. I start Feb4 and it will be a drastic change of pace. I've been working from home alot, travelling some for work but not much lately, working out whenever I please and pretty much doing what I want when I want. New job will be in office every day 830-530 working my tail off so I will have to be more diligent about exercise and getting to the gym. Weekends will be a must and I will do trial/error as far as early AM or PM after work or dinner exercise goes. A good change of pace for me but will be a culture shock!!
You guys have been such a motivator. It's so great to get on here and read up on everyone to see your successes. When I'm feeling down or lazy I read some posts on here and think well if they can do it, so can I! Get off your butt, Brook!! Whether you all know it or not you are always inspriational. And Kirsten - love the quotes! I'm a bigggggg lover of quotes in general and so I'm diggin' it. Ok, promise to be better about weigh-in and posting. Happy Jan22 everyone ;-)
Wow, Brook, NICE WORK!! I'm so impressed!
JMC ... yup, definitely hard to get out the door again once I'm warm. But I kind of find it easier to exercise after I've definitively unwound. If you're going to stay in can you "schedule" your evening? Dinner 6pm, phone calls 7pm, exercise 8pm, watch movie 9pm ... or does that just make it like work?
Awesome work Brook - I can't wait to fit into my skinny jeans - and maybe a skirt..once I get past my leg issues, I always tend to put on weight below the waist!
JMC - I know that for me at least, once I'm home, I'm done for the most part. I just want to kick back and relax so I try to do my walking/exercise either during my lunch break or directly after work before I go home. Though if you have an exercise ball, doing that at night might be good too. I want to get back into doing that. Even 15/20 sit-ups between commercials while watching t.v. is great! Plus, I totally hear you on the night time binging. It's like a few hours after I eat dinner I'm uncontrollable; nibbling at everything I can get my hands on. I'm trying to dig down and just say NO! It's hard, but I hope once I kick the bad habit it'll be gone for good!
Good luck and keep up the good work everyone!
Just FYI I have been doing awesome all week so instead of weighing in today I am going to wait until Friday for 2 reasons :
A. so I can be in sync w/ you guys and
B. maybe 2 more days will mean I'll see a much lower # on my scale.
BTW you guys are awesome thanks so so so so so much for embracing those of us who drop in on your already established forum and still help us out.
I weighed myself this morning and the scale read 3lbs. higher than last Friday. I drank too much and ate too much crap over the weekend and now I'm paying for it. At least I only took off one day of exercising since last week.
mr313 - I know in my case it took about 20lbs. for me to even really see a difference. I've lost about 28lbs. so far and I can still wear most of my clothes, but they are more loose. Stick with it, I bet you'll notice in the next 5 lbs. that clothes are fitting looser. Also, it took me over 25lbs. to lose before anyone said/noticed a difference. Hang in there and keep up the good work.
Im very new to the community/forums! and...Im sorry to drop in soo late in the game...but I figure late is better than never!
Im 28 and have been battling the pounds the for last 4-5years. I started on the Biggest Loser diet right after the first of the year and am currently down 6 pounds. It doesnt seem like much, but on a short gal (5'2") it sure makes a difference. I work out 4-5 times a week...Spinning 4 days, Step Aerobics 1 day, and Core Secrets 2-3 days if I can! Im motivated to lose THIS time...my goal being down 15-20 lbs by my birthday in mid-April! This will be the year I succeed!
I look forward to posting/reading again and having the chance to see all of us reach our goals!!!
thank you everyone for your congrats!! i soo appreciate it, you guys rock!
jmc1221 - i can relate. it's easier to be good during the day but once you get home you just wanna hang out on the couch and eat whatever's available. it's tough!! you've come to the right place though. this group is great and everyone else's successes motivate me to meet my goals. first of all - if there's 'bad' food in your house, the food you end up binging on...get rid of it. if it's not there, there's no way you can stuff your face. make healthier choices when you go the the grocery store. you can make delicious food that's good for you. as far as exercise goes i think everyone's different. i do better outdoors or at the gym (with a friend helps). i have weight, bosu, elliptical machine, etc in my house and rarely used them. i do now if it's cold but you've gotta get yourself into a routine. after the first few weeks you'll almost feel bad if you don't exercise. i have to do it right when i get home or it gets skipped. you'll start to like it more and want to. good luck, i know you can do it!!
mr313 - you've done great so far!! 16 lbs is a great start, especially if you have more to lose. it may take a bit more to see results or to feel your clothes fit differently but you will get there! think about it this way though...you've changed your habits, you're eating better and losing weight. you are healthier and your body thanks you for it. it will start to show i promise! keep up the good work and keep your chin up!
scarter17 - don't worry about the 3 lbs - it is probably just water weight retention. one weekend of eating not as great and drinking won't put on a permanent 3 lbs. i do that pretty much every weekend haha, and i am still steadily losing. remember, it takes 3500 calories above what you burn to gain 1 lb of fat...it's probably just a little water weight in your case.
rosterhome - welcome!! glad you could join. it sounds like you're off to a great start and have a good workout plan in place. congrats on the first 6!! that's awesome!
sorry this is so long...but anyway...i am leaving in a few hours for my ski trip so i won't be around friday. so here's the weigh in results: 1/24/08 - 138.2lbs. start weight was 149.0. last Friday's weight was 138.6 so i'm down barely, 0.4lbs :) i'll take it. hope you all have a good weekend!! i'm NOT calorie counting this weekend! yay for a break!
WEIGH in Day
Ok someone tell me what the heck this is all about:
(Keep in mind this all happened within about a minute or so)
I step on the scale weighing 141.0 YES, thinks to myself that doesn't seem right that's too much weight loss. Step off and back on, 141.4, enh that seems about right. Hmmm, wonder what happens if I put on my robe, 142.4, yuck, steps off scale and takes off the robe. Steps back on, 142.4, What the, did I just gain a pound in a matter of seconds. So I'm settling on 142, which puts me down 1 pound from last week.
I have a digital scale and I wonder if that has anything to do with it *shrugs*
This week went quick.
So I am down 1 pound to 183!
Amayou82, I've had things like that happen with my scale too! I've even (and this might be TMI) gone to the bathroom and managed to have it say I GAINED a pound? huh? My scale is also digital (and only goes in .5 lb increments) so maybe that is why.
Anyway, I hit my 20 lb mark this week!! That last pound was kicking and screaming and fighting back with all it's might, but I won the battle in the end!! This week I"m at 183, down from 184.5 last week! I've decided that my body (and mind) likes mini goals better, so my next mini goal... 180!
And my next size pair of jeans fits too! They give me a small bit of muffin-top, but as long as I don't wear any short, tight, or thin shirts, it should be fine. I've got like every size of jeans between 16 and 10 in my closet right now, so I'm working on working my way down through them :) And hey, at least I'll have clothes that fit as I lose, right?
For those who get down because no one has noticed your weight loss yet, I've been having lunch with a guy friend of mine, and I mentioned to him yesterday that I've hit 20lbs down, and he said that he had noticed, but didn't want to say anything because he didn't want to offend. So I'm wondering if others maybe feel the same way. Plus I'm mostly wearing the same clothes I did before, they just are a little loose instead of me looking like a stuffed sausage in them :) I think new clothes that fit and look great are a big sign to people that you've changed something, and gives them something to comment on besides just weight loss.
Congrat's Brookh13 on the skinny jeans fitting! I can't wait until my last pair fits again (they are my favorite cut too!)
Grr ... internet just died and lost my post ... what was I trying to say?
Oh yes, great work amayou, joelle and laurieellen. Joelle, I try not to comment on friends' weight gains/losses unless they bring it up because I get a little self-conscious when people comment on mine (feel like if they notice the losses they must notice the gains too). Although I would like to hear about, and be part of any changes my friends are making that make them feel good!
I'm down to 124.6. The scale said 127 last week but it was the afternoon (usually weigh in mornings) and a bad time of month. I am happy about this, but also really wish I LOOKED 124 - I think most people would guestimate me as being more like 140 because I'm so untoned. So I'd love to be down 1.6lbs next week, but I'd love even more to turn some flab into muscle..
i almost forgot today was weigh in day. but i remembered.
i weighed this morning and i am at 290. another 4 lost. things are really going great. the only thing that can stop me now is a plateau. so i will make sure that that doesn't happen. i'm happy because i am now at 30 pounds lost. feels great and another 5 and i will have 100 to go.
good job to everyone that has lost. we are changing our lives and damn, it feels good, doesn't it? see you all next week.
