Ive battled with my weight my whole life(if you want to know more you can check out my profile)and Im looking for people like me out there, close to my age who can relate to what I am going through. Im doing the 12 week exercise program and so far Im doing really good (just finished day 8)! I would love to get a group together to share progress and challenges and failures etc. Anyone?
So once again i didn;t get around to weighing myself on Friday. I know, I know i'm slacking!
But I did this morning when i was getting ready for work. 192.......i went up!!!! I don't get it?!?!? I'm so incredibly frustrated.
Congrats to all who did loose!
Kristen it is so frustrating. But WE will do this. It's just going to take awhile. :)
New here, 21 years old :) been losing weight before I joined this. I started at the beginning of January and by the first of Feb.
I went from 201 to 189.5!
I cut my calories to 1500. I don't feel hungry, I eat food high in protein (yogurt, egg whites, etc...), lots of fruit, lots of water, small meals throughout the day, oatmeal in the morning etc...
I also don't punish myself. Instead of dropping chocolate or chips or snacks I like, I find substitutes or those 100 calorie packs! Those 100 calorie packs are great...they are low in sodium, 0 trans fat etc..
Finally I play DDR (Dance Dance Revolution). I burn about 900 calories playing the game. I burn 350 calories during lunch playing the game and then another 550 when I get home from work.
Hoping to continue losing at the same rate!
I'm engaged and my wedding is next year :)
Yup, Fridays are weigh-in days. Welcome Moko and Jberube - wow, that's so inspiring to hear that you lost so much your first month! Stick with it! Moko I'm sur you'll start seeing results soon with a few small changes.
Scarter, laurieellen ... how do we stop screwing around and get serious?
If you are tonight is the last night you can go out and indulge! lol
I don't usually drink, but I've recently given up refined sugar (49 hours ago!)
Hmm ... does fried foods include potato chips?
Welcome new people. I always love to hear from new people. Good luck to all of you. some of us are fairly new to CC and some of us have been here for a while. If you have any questions dont hesitate. Everyone in this group is incredibly friendly and helpful.
uh! you guys I am not doing well this week. On top of the cold of the century Ive been at the new location for a week now and it is so busy I dont have time to eat right. I get maybe 10 minutes to myself in a 9 hour shift. How am I going to work around that?So I have my shake in the morning then dont eat anything for atleast 7 hours then have some incredibly unhealthy but fast Taco Bell or KFC (thats where I work incase you missed that) and come home and have some soup or something. I weighed this morning cause I knew I wasnt doing well. 178 thats up 1.5 from 176.5 last friday. Im still not exercising cause I can hardly breath but I just dont know how Im going to eat better.
As for all you partiers. There are different things that fuel your body like carbs or alcohol. There are tons of calories in booze. There are almost 200 cals in a glass of beer and about 50 cals in a shot of booze depending on what youre drinking plus if youre drinking highballs then theres pop and juice cals on top of that.... so if you have 4 beer @ 200 cals + 4 shots @ 50 cals youve consumed 1000 calories on top of all the food youve eaten.
I love drinking..ask anyone lol but I bet you if I hadnt cut back (I still drink, maybe once a month) I wouldnt have lost 20lbs. This could very well be the only thing standing between you and your weightloss. Stop for a month, see how it goes. Good luck
Original Post by kristenk5185:So I'm used to workingout in the evenings. Thats what I've always done. I usually go right after work so I don't end up making some excuse as to why I can't go. But lately there are all these people who are at the gym now ( new years resolutions). Before it was pretty easy trying to get a machine. If at all anything I maybe had to wait 5-10 mins. Tops. Now its to the point where I'm waiting 30-45 mins. And as soon as a machine opens up, its like a stampeed, everyone goes running for it. So I started going later. Instead of getting there around 5:30-6, I would go home, make some dinner, chill out for a while and then go around 8. By the time I'm finished workingout and go home, take a shower and start to wind down for the night. Its already like 10:30. Now don't get me wrong 10:30 isn't late in my book, but when you have to get up for work at 5:30-6am it is. I'm not a morning person, so I need as much shut eye as I can get. But I still don't get it. I'm completely ready for bed, and I can't sleep, my mind is racing, I have so much energy. And I know that come from workingout. And I know that that is a good thing, but not when I need to sleep. So the whole point of the long and drawn out question is........do any of you workout in the morning? Before going to work. My gym opens at 5am. I was thinking about starting to get up every morning and going to the gym around 5, so that I would be done by 6. Have and hour to get cleaned up and ready for work, and still be able to be at work by 8. And then have my workout finished for the day. The only thing I would have to worry about for the rest of the day is what I put in my mouth. But I'm not sure I can do it. Does anyone do it? Is it hard to get up that early and get motivated to workout? Do you have energy for 3 hours and then crach and burn midday? Any imput would be appretiated. Thanks!!
ok i might be really late in replying to this, but this is a big problem for me. i don't want to go right after work to the gym because it's crowded and i feel like i need a bit of a break.... but then when i go later in the evening i'm full of energy and can't sleep. i used to have an early morning work schedule and woke up everyday at 3-4am. but now that i'm on a normal work schedule and can wake up at 6-6:30 i just can't get myself to get up early again!!! i've done it a couple random times and it was great, i had all that energy that got me through the day and i was much more alert and productive then normal. i just felt great. but damn it's hard waking up that early. espeically if you live somewhere where it's cold now in the mornings! my new gym doesn't open til 6am too which is too late for me anyway. i was considering waking up early and working out in my house but i don't know, what are the chances i'll wake up and go inside and start hitting a punching bag or doing situps when i have trouble getting out of bed and into the shower?! lol keep me posted on what you decide and how you do with this. i'll let you know if i finally find a schedule that works too!
and while i'm here i'll make up for my lack of posting :)
drinking is a kicker for me too. not just the drinking but the snacking that goes with. there's no chance i'm quitting drinking, but i am trying to cut it back a lot. caffeine too. i've noticed in my couple weeks of keeping track of calories, i can do fine on a regular day but my high days are all days i had some drinks and of course, snacked with them! good luck to everyone!
Hi guys! I've been reading without being a member for the last few weeks, but I reckon that if I really want to actually lose weight, then I have to start paying more attention to everything, and not just the number on the scale. I weigh in every day before getting dressed (and after visiting the toilet, pesky water weight!) and I'm currently hovering around 187.
I started off in November at 197, so I've lost about 10lbs (which has JUST hit home, ohmigosh yay!) but it's taking forever and it's so frustrating watching the numbers go up and down. I don't exercise much, which is very bold, but I do drive every weekday, which apparently burns calories so I guess I save that way.
You guys are pretty amazing, with all the losses that are happening, but when I see the number of people on the 120 and 130 end of things, it's mega depressing as I'll never ever get there (if I want to remain healthy anyway, I've a large frame and am at least 5 foot 8). Maybe some day I'll make it to the 150s though :)
Oh, I've seen a lot of posts about water and the 8 glasses a day "myth". I dunno about anyone else, but I drink at least 2 litres a day, and it helps a lot. I think drinking so much even helps to push the excess water out of the body, if that makes any sense!
I'll be 24 in March, and I'd love to be a few dress sizes smaller by the time that happens, but what will be, will be.
Hi my names Smithy im 23 from Newcastle, England. Its my first ever post.
I found this site yesterday through chance when i was searching how many calories was in my subway(At work bored!).
My main problem is from alcohol which im cutting down massively! Also take-aways which i tend to have after a few beers (Very often).
My 1st goal is to lose as much as possible before my holiday in June, then to start playing football competitivley again by September! After that my long term goal is to get my BMI below the dreaded 30!!
This site really helps you to realise how much you eat and its pretty scary at times IMO!
Im gonna start doing between 30mins and 1 hours excersise 5 times a week including weight training, squash, badminton and 5 a side football. As unbeliveable as it may sound i really really love sport!
Hey, my name is Ashley and I am 21... I just signed up for this 12 week program. I am hoping to lose all the weight I have gained in the last 3 years. When I started my job as a receptionist, I became extremely inactive. Sitting all day and doing nothing caused me to be tired even after work, so therefore I gained around 40 pounds. I am so very unhappy with myself and have been for awhile... this is just what I need. I hope that I can relate to some of you, which from what I have read so far it seems to me that I have something in common with almost everyone. I hope I can do this... it would be great.
Hi Ashley
My problem began when i started working in an office too. I can totally relate to what you are saying about being tired after work even though its just sitting around all day!
My active lifestyle began again last night with a trip to the gym which i havent been to for 6 month! Quite sore today but will defo be back tonight!
jmc1221- I did the EXACT same thing - went back a month or so and looked at all my days that were high and they were mostly weekend days and a lot of it was alcohol and then snacking after/while drinking and I was WAAAY over my calories and not all of it was even added!
I'm going to try to fast for lent, cut down on alcohol (because honestly, I know it's not something I want to give up yet. I'm young and I want to have fun!) So hopefully it'll help my diet!
Vegetariangeek I am counting chips as a fried food :( It's going to be tough I work in a restaurant/bar a couple of nights a week. Temptation is everywhere.
If anyone one is in the NJ/NY area what is going on with the weather? It's February and my car said the temp outside is 70! Calm before the storm in my opinion.
Yea, I just started back last night with my cardio. It's been about 2 months since I workout... and everytime I start back I think about how much more weight I would have lost had I just stuck with it... it's kinda depressing. I think I am just going to stick with cardio for a couple of weeks before toning... b/c I don't want to push myself... that's when I tend to fall of track...
