Ive battled with my weight my whole life(if you want to know more you can check out my profile)and Im looking for people like me out there, close to my age who can relate to what I am going through. Im doing the 12 week exercise program and so far Im doing really good (just finished day 8)! I would love to get a group together to share progress and challenges and failures etc. Anyone?
Hey everyone. I jes' joined today and ran across this group by chance. I'm 25 years old and have been pretty up on educating myself with nutrition, weight loss, fitness, etc. Right now i'm at 200lbs but even though this thing wants me at 170 (no way), I'm shooting for 180 because I'm pretty sure thats better for me. I've dabbled with a few techniques, diets and so forth so I've got a pretty good base for this stuff and from my experience, 6 meals a day, higher on the protein and mainly watch your saturated fats pretty much does the trick. Drink lots of water and eat whole grain/wheat foods and most everything else will fall into place. I really don't know how all this forums stuff works so if anyone has anything to add/ask, whatever, holler.

If anyone one is in the NJ/NY area what is going on with the weather? It's February and my car said the temp outside is 70! Calm before the storm in my opinion.
definately! the rain just broke here in pa, but i'm not complaining if it gave me that short period of 70 degrees woo hoo! plus the little bit of warmth reminded me of summer coming and getting my butt moving with the exercising ;)
Original Post by princess-adora:Hi guys! I've been reading without being a member for the last few weeks, but I reckon that if I really want to actually lose weight, then I have to start paying more attention to everything, and not just the number on the scale. I weigh in every day before getting dressed (and after visiting the toilet, pesky water weight!) and I'm currently hovering around 187.
I started off in November at 197, so I've lost about 10lbs (which has JUST hit home, ohmigosh yay!) but it's taking forever and it's so frustrating watching the numbers go up and down. I don't exercise much, which is very bold, but I do drive every weekday, which apparently burns calories so I guess I save that way.
You guys are pretty amazing, with all the losses that are happening, but when I see the number of people on the 120 and 130 end of things, it's mega depressing as I'll never ever get there (if I want to remain healthy anyway, I've a large frame and am at least 5 foot 8). Maybe some day I'll make it to the 150s though :)
Oh, I've seen a lot of posts about water and the 8 glasses a day "myth". I dunno about anyone else, but I drink at least 2 litres a day, and it helps a lot. I think drinking so much even helps to push the excess water out of the body, if that makes any sense!
I'll be 24 in March, and I'd love to be a few dress sizes smaller by the time that happens, but what will be, will be.
Hey Princess-adora!
I know exactly how you feel. I'm 5"7" and about 195lbs. I used to be roughly 140-150, but my dad past and since i have just coped by eating and drinking. Don't get frustrated, cause your not the only one who is in the 120-130 range. I'm sure as heck not. I also have a large frame. I've talked to numous people and doctors and they have all said that for my body type i should typically wiegh anywhere from 135-140. So you too can do it. Don't look at the negative, look for the positive. And so maybe one week you do't loose weight, and you don't gain, but maube your pants are feeling a little looser. I think you should only wieght your self 1 a week, if that. It you do it more your going to see the number going up and down. And that will just frustrate you even more. I knowit does me. But honestly i could care less how much i actually wieghed. As long as i'm healthy, fit, in shape, and feleling good then nothing else matters. It's just a number. And a number its something that your should allow to bring you down. Nothing can make you inferior without your consent. So it you let it piss you off and annoy you then your letting your wieght get the best of you. From now on just look at the number and say, "ok well its not what i wanted, and i was expecting a little more progress, but who cares i feel great!" And as long as you feel good, and stay positive, positive results are soon to follow.
Welcome to all the new folks.
Theferet- What have you been doing, as far as eating and exercise?
Brando- Sounds like you know what to do, now all you have to do is put it into action.
Kirsten-Feel better soon. All I can suggest is you have to start bringing your own food. Since you know you don't have alot of "sit down and really enjoy your meal" time, perhaps you should break your meals down into snacks. Cut up a chicken breast a make chicken fingers, bag that up for something quick on the go. Of course don't forget your fruits and veggies. If you can't work out right now that's fine you are probably on your feet most of the day anyway, just focus on getting your eating right.
2 days until weigh-in day it's not looking good for me fluctuating around 141.?
I'm back on track, yay. Down .8 of a lb. but I'll take it! Kirsten, get better real soon! Here's a quote for you, since you're feeling under the weather...
"Sleep, riches, and health to be truly enjoyed must be interrupted." ~Johann Paul Friedrich Richter
Get well soon! ![]()
Anyone in their 20s with cholesterol problems? I found out I had high cholesterol right after I hit 20, and I am a small person. I have always tried to eat healthy, but I read "How to Lower Your Cholesterol in 8 Weeks" and became even healthier after that (no more fast food or prepackaged meals for me!). I lost some weight and brought my cholesterol down to 200, but I would love to get it to 150-160 range. This has been a total life-changing thing for me (which I guess is what dieting should be all about).
Anyone else in the same boat?
Jenn
hey everyone...
I'm 21... 5'3'' and 146 as of this morning... lost 25lbs already... looking for another 25 to lose... i've been on and off that silly wagon so many times i've lost count... and now i feel determined to do it once and for all especially as I'm looking into finishing up school in the next couple years and hopefully getting married soon there after... and I dont want to wait till a month before the wedding to decide to lose weight... I feel like my weight and struggle with it is holding me back...
also I'm considering weight watchers... any input on this??
so if anyone would like email me at jade29_@hotmail.com or send me a msg on cc i'm usually around a computer
chao :o)
Hello everyone! I just joined CC on the 5th, but am very optimistic! I'm 21 years old.
My original weight was approximately 204lbs. Before CC I made a sincere attempt to cut back on cals and increase my exercise. I am currently at 180 lbs. I'm really happy that I was able to at least maintain my loss of 24lbs for over 1 year. I decided to make the final plunge after one day... several weeks ago... I decided I didn't want to get out of bed anymore. I was so disgusted and ashamed of the what I had let myself become. I felt like a horrible wife and could only imagine how embarassed my husband (the twig that he is) was to be seen with something as large and grotesque as me! I was wrong of course.. DH still loves me, but I do not.. at least the weight! So this is it for me.. from now on I will always be held accountable for the things I eat! ...Btw my goal is 140lbs. Yay!

i had high cholesterol when i was young... like 12 or so, and i was chunky but not ridiculusly heavy. i had to get my blood tested like every other week. anyway, i went vegetarian not long after and my cholesterol has been perfect ever since. whether my weight goes up or down, my cholesterol has been good. i think cutting out a lot of "junk" and eating healthier in general has helped too.
Jade- I have done WW in the past and it's what I just started doing again this week. I love the core plan because there are so many foods that you can eat for free and then you have 35 points per week for items that aren't on the list. You can eat as much as you want, but the key is to always stay satified. You never want to let yourself get too full or too hungry. Try it out. If you want a list of foods you can eat, let me know and I'll email it to you.
