Ive battled with my weight my whole life(if you want to know more you can check out my profile)and Im looking for people like me out there, close to my age who can relate to what I am going through. Im doing the 12 week exercise program and so far Im doing really good (just finished day 8)! I would love to get a group together to share progress and challenges and failures etc. Anyone?
Hotpinkgirl - I could see where you can become dependent psycologically to Alli. My friend was taking it but she continued to eat a really crappy diet. I have been really careful to stay within my caloric boundaries. My weight loss is painfully slow (about 1/2 a pound a week) so any extra boost helps. One thing though, like you said I need to drink more water. That's the hard part, I hate drinking water!!!
I like taking alli because it doesn't mess with your head....meaning there is no caffine or any other stimulant. It just works in your intestines and it does have a way of keeping you on track because you don't want to deal with the "treatment effects".
Taritakaye - I used hydroxycut a year ago and noticed no difference in weight loss. I actually gained a little when I stopped taking it, probably because I didn't know how to eat right and that's the only way to maintain being healthy and weight for a lifetime. I agree with it being good old fashioned exercise and eating right. It does get tough - You can do it though!!!
rcflyr - I hear ya with the desk job. The summer is the only time when I'm out on site, the rest of the year my butt is sitting behind a computer. I'm lucky to get an hour lunch break though, so I go walking then, but it's tough to get in any other exercise edgewise.
Vegetariangeek - I hear you too, I used to do Billy Blanks Tae Bo and two forward punches and I'm almost in the t.v. This might sound funny, but we have Dance Dance Revolution and there's a setting on it that calculates the calories. You can burn up to 300 in less than an hour without even realizing, plus it's fun!
So I just joined this site today, and wow lucky me to find such a great forum. A little about me, My name is Tara, I'm 5'8", 24 years old, and I have struggled with weight most of my life, going through fat periods and thin periods, so I know the feeling both ways. In college I was overweight but overall pretty healthy, just after I went through some major stressful times and my weight topped off at 267 lbs. I got going January 2006 and managed to drop 50 lbs by June 2006 doing a low carb (but in hindsight I think it was more low calorie) diet. However, more life changes, moving in with skinny roommates who ate their weight in food everyday, i gained back to 249 lbs, which is close to where i am today.
I decided the low-carb thing was iffy on health and temporary at best, and I really want to make a life change and stop yo-yoing. I want to feel whole, healthy, and feel my age. I have a very active life-style when you consider I work two jobs and manage to keep up with most of my friends, however, I need to make a healthy change for me, which is what I'm doing. Today I'm weighing in at 247, and would love to join the weekly weigh-in, so I guess I will see you all Friday. And thank you all for sharing your stories, it's really hard to for me to open up and talk about my weight, it's been a very sensitive subject for me my entire life. But I think that's just the change and accountibility i need, so really, thanks.
Holy cow lots of new posters!!! Welcome everyone I am sooo glad to see there are so many people out there wanting to get motivated and connect with other people wanting to loose weight.
I just want everyone to know that despite all the motivational quotes Im still not exercising lol. Im being so lazy and I know I wont have lost by friday. So todays motivational quote is get off your fat ass and loose some f****** weight. Sorry for the hostility...im angry with myself.

@ Kirsten-Do you belong to a gym? That's what motivates me, if I'm payin for it I'm using it.
@ Everyone-So Tomorrow is weigh in day and I'm feeling especially good, since I didn't lose any weight last week, or the week before that , etc. I'm sure I've lost, I actually checked this morning but I'll weight in tomorrow with everyone else.
Hydroxycut Well I started using this again 2 days ago because I've been on a long plateau and I needed a lil boost. I am counting my calories and exercising as well so I'm not just on a pill kick (if you want my stats you know where to look)
No, Im really not a gym kind of person... infact I hate them lol.
Scarter I really liked your quote. very inspiring. Thank you. Im going to go do some cardio right now!
I feel like an ass because I can sit here and bitch about how Im not exercising (with all my equipment sitting just a few feet behind me) wondering why Im not standing up and going to work out. When really its not some great mystery... all it is, is a lack of discipline.
Tomorrow is weigh day! Good luck!!!
PS I think Im getting sick!![]()
Kirsten- It's ok you'll find your motivation. When I hit my goal I'm gonna have to stay motivated to keep working out I hate it too, but payin for it motivates me and I switch machines when I get bored.
I guess I'll be first to weigh-in
Last Friday: 147
Today: 145.2
Loss: 1.8 lbs
Thank God finally, I don't know if the H helped but it got me past the hump.
Weigh-in day, yay! (smirk)
Last week: 188.5
This week: 186.0
Finally losing again! Thank goodness the holidays are over!
Last week I was 188
This week I am 188
Even though I am the same this week. I weighed after my oatmeal and tea and fully dressed, with shoes on to, and it's TTOM.
So I am still going to believe that I would have lost something if it were a different week.
The problem is my housemates!!! I live with 5 other teammates all of whom have TERRIBLE eating habits and all of whom are really making it difficult for me to keep up my hard work. They are actually making me feel bad about not wanting to go out for pizza and taco bell with them every night. How do you guys handle living with really unsupportive people?
Weigh in day...
Last week I was at 303.
I just weighed this morning and am at 298. So I lost 5. It feels great to be under 300 again. I'm down 22 since my start last month. Feeling awesome.
Also, congrats to everyone that has lost and to those that haven't, start losing!!! Hope that helps.
