Anyone have tips for how to drink 64 ounces of water-- I can't!

I've eliminated everything else to drink (except 2 cups of coffee in AM) but have a terrible time trying to drink enough water.  I'm on a 1200 calories diet which is less difficult than the damn water.  I know it is an essential ingredient to a diet - especially for those of us who eat Lean Cuisine and other prepackaged food with a pretty high sodium level.

Thoughts?  Thanks!

I personally don't like plain water, so I drink a lot of Diet Green Tea and White Tea from Lipton.  I can easily drink 3 of those a day, and that counts as your water intake.  You can also buy Crystal Light to add to your water.  It's 5 calories, but if it's that or forcing myself to drink plain water, I'll take the 5 calories.

I was the same...and I eat alot of Lean Cuisines too so it was very important for me to start with the water.  I just kept a water bottle with me the entire day, everytime i thought about food i would gulp down the water.  i would also set a goal for the number of bottles i could finish for that day.

dont know if that helps?

Crystal Light

Decaf flavored teas

low sodium bouillon

sparkling waters (no sugar, no caffeine, no sodium, no coloring)

Repeat as needed.

Now don't get all weirded out but . . . I drink hot water all day long.

Yes, plain hot water. I love it, it's a hot drink without caffeine and without calories.

You might give it a try :-)
I've done the hot water thing, too.  I used drink quite a bit of coffee at my desk but changed to hot water.  I have a hard time drinking enough water and it helps.  I like having something warm to drink...it doesn't have to be coffee or tea...I'm satisfied with just a cup of hot water.  I think part of it is the habit of having a cup of something at my desk.

Have you ever tried the Vitamin Water's?  They are flavored and have lots of different kinds.  My favorite is the Power-C Dragonfruit.  They are very lightly sweetened and are refreshing.  I can't get enough of these things!!  Only bad thing is they have calories in them put most are less then 50 calories per serving but they are loaded with vitamins and nutrients.  So it's a trade off.

Minute Maid light lemonade has only 5 cals.

As a sugar-free substitute for Vitamin Water (which I LOVE, but those 50 cal servings add up quick when you get the big bottles), I've used Kool-Aid packets and just not add any sugar. If you're embarrassed to drink something bright red you can get the colorless flavors (I think watermelon is a colorless flavor).

And at ~10 cents a pack, they're very affordable. One pack makes 64 oz. If you really need the sweetness I guess you could add Splenda or just one or two tsps of sugar to the whole pitcher. And they have Vitamin C!

Try drinking it from a bottle.  I can drink 3 litres a day if I use a bottle, if I use cups unless i force myself I an barely make it through 2 cups.  I just keep the bottle next to me and keep refilling it through out the day.
I keep a 16oz water glass on my desk and every time I empty it I go to the brita pitcher and fill it up again. Then it just sits beside me until I want it. The key is refilling the glass as soon as you finish the water that's there - otherwise I'll pick it up and say 'oh, it's empty', but I'm too lazy to go and get more so I'll go hours without having any more. Also, keep the pitcher filled up so you don't have any excuse not to drink the water! 64 oz is only four big glasses - it's not really that much.

I like to have one big 32 oz. bottle, and keep it practically in my hand. Like kajikit said, fill it up as soon as it's empty! I noticed that if I keep it in my hand while I'm driving, for example, I'll drink nearly the whole thing without even realizing it.

And just take lots of small sips, don't try to gulp it down. Gulping is very unpleasant.

I also use a 32 oz bottle and have found I drink SO MUCH more water when I have it!

Also, I really hate water to be honest...like seriously.  I can't stand to drink much at a time because the taste, or lack of, makes me gag.

But one thing I've found to get me to drink lots of water is dropping a frozen fruit (a strawberry for me, but a couple blueberries, raspberries, or whatever else works too!!) in my water bottle.  That motivates me to drink the water so I can get to the yummy fruit at the bottom!  Plus it gives it a little bit of a fruity taste.

I used to drink those Crystal Light things but the artificial stuff in it upset my tummy and made me bloated ALL THE TIME!  Like more than if I ate a ton of salt and drank almost no water...that's why I do the fruit thing.  Plus it's not all chemicals and stuff =)

If you can handle the Crystal Light it's good though!  I miss it =(
You don't have to drink 64 oz., you do get some water from the foods that you eat, especially fresh fruits and vegetables.  I like to add lemon slices to my water which has the bonus of vitamin C.  I also like to drink mint tea.
I carry a water bottle with me everywhere. I have one of those powerade bottles (32oz) and I re-use it for like forever. I clean it frequently.

I keep the bottle next to me when working out, watching a movie, playing on the computer. I realized that when I have it handy, I drink it more. I start drinking it without even thinking about it. I average about 3-4 refills a day.

I tend to add a bit of tea (green is my fav) or some sugar free stuff to it when I need a change. it is always really diluted but thats how I like it. lightly flavored water.
I am one of those that simply can't do water. Like deflepfan16, water disgusts me so much I gag.

What I generally buy are a lot of herbal teas (either loose or in bags) like peppermint, spearmint, chamomile, spice, or green tea. I make at least one huge pot of tea everyday, and depending on the weather, will either heat it or drink it cold.

I may take fruit juice that has no high fructose corn syrup, and water it down so that I have a fruit flavored water.

My physician has said that all of these are highly acceptable as water substitutes.
I always add ice and a squirt of Lemon Juice to my water, it tastes better and adds a bit of minerals.

When I lived in canada the tap water was disgusting,  I couldn't get myself to drink any of it without holding my nose and just gulping it down, and adding stuff that adds extra calories seems like a waste of precious calories.  So I got into buying the five gallon jugs of reverse osmosis water at water stores, tastes like nothing but refreshing nothing at that.  Like every one is saying here put it in a 32oz bottle keep it with you and filled everytime it's empty and it just seems easier to get all the water you need then!

Australia doesn't have funny tasting tap water, at least where I live, curious and curiouser

Whoa.... no one told me I had to drink 64 oz of water... I didn't even drink that much when I almost drowned.

Why do I need 65 oz. I saw a study lately that said that they may have over emphasized how much water is good for you.  Tell me why I need 64?

I think I am doomed!

my problem is too much water makes me feel bloated

and at my job, i CANNOT be in the potty all day....every 15 mintues a bathroom break is not acceptable (i mean the running to the bathroom before i pee on myself kind)...especially if I have a meeting or have to drive someplace farther than a mile away....

some peoples bodys "get used to it" mine is not one of them.

I'm aweful at refilling my bottles at my desk.  The water fountain is literally 3 feet outside my office door but I'll sit here dying of thirst and not get up.  So I fill up three bottles of water in the morning, one plain and usually two different kinds of crystal light or tea, that way I have a variety and I'm not drinking the same thing over and over again.  And by the end of the day I've drunk at least 60 oz of water between my three bottles.  But three bottles is not an overwhelming sight like it would be if I were to get a 60 oz bottle and try and drink one of those at my desk.  I'm all about small quantities and tricking my body.  Whatever works!
