Has anyone tried alli? If so has it worked for you?

I've been thinking about trying alli to speed up my weight loss.  I have gone on the website (www.myalli.com) and read through the information.  I usually don't like taking weight loss pills, but since alli works differently I was considering it.   Traditional diet pills usually give me headaches and make me jittery.

What I am worried about is the "treatment effects" because the website basically says that if you eat more than 15 grams of fat then you will have "treatment effects".

I have changed my diet (cutting portion size, no red meat, no rice, pasta, bread) and started exercising almost every day.

 Any feedback would help.

My older sister has been taking alli along with an exercise and diet plan since July or so, and she's lost about 50 lbs. She looks great. No one can really be certain how much the alli contributed I guess, but she seems to think it helps. And its FDA approved, so that's nice.
I tried it last July-September.  I lost 38 pounds overall but I would say maybe 5 was due to Alli. I do think though that it's is what motivated me to keep losing.  I knew I had to eat right for it to work and I just snowballed from there.  I didn't take it with every meal like it suggests because often my fat intake was 5 grams or less.  I did take it when I had anything more fattening though.  There are some nasty side effects and I had them all!  All the research I've done too (and I've done a lot) say most people lose 5-8 pounds.  I still have a bunch and I do take one if I eat out and eat more greasy foods. And I get the side effects each time.  I don't think it a magic pill like I hoped.  But it was helpful.
I should have added that the side effects are mostly toilet related. There was no shakiness or heart issues like other diet pills.

Never tried it before. Hope everyone is doing great in '08.

Well I must have had a bad reaction...I had no "treatment Effects" but I had shakiness, light headed, and rapid heartbeat. I couldn't sleep for 3 days. I went to the E.R.

If you go to the website you will find where it says that its possible to experience these effects. The bottle doesn't say it, but if you do your research you can find it. I stopped taking them. I only tried it in hopes that it would break the plateau I was in for 6 months but hell not to feel like that. Frown

is there any pills you can take that wont hurt ur body, or make u gain it ALL back when u stop?

cuz im not doing good with the weight loss and im plateaued for like months.. and what type of toilet issues..like..gotta go kind...constipated kind..or worst..diaherra?

just diet &exercise. if diet pills worked, there wouldn't be obesity.
mxo62xo, the "toliet issues" are of the diarrhea and anal leakage kind. The Alli literature recommends that you always have an extra pair of pants/trousers with you! :-(

Yes, I'm talking alli right now.  I lost 40lbs so far.  I never had treatment effects that mostly everyone is afraid of, so I would recommend it to everyone I know.  Plus, I cheat sometimes with a hamburger or pizza....and than take the alli and it helps me maintain my weight.  But of course, it's best not to cheat too much so you won't have treatment efffects.
I am not personally taking alli, but my mom has been for about two weeks now. She says that she has lost a total of 10 pounds so far since she has been on her diet. Also, she hasn’t suffered from any of the treatment side effects. I think that it really depends on the person when it comes to whether or not the side effects take place. I’m not sure if she has actually lost weight because of alli, but I think that it is making her accountable for the food that she puts in her body, including the calories and fat grams. Since you aren’t supposed to eat more than 15 grams of fat in a given meal, she makes sure to really pay attention to the fats in her foods. On a personal note, I honestly believe that you can lose weight without using alli by just watching your calorie intake. That’s my belief based upon the weight I have lost over that last 7 months.

When I was 184 yes, I tried my best to stay in the 15 to 19 fat grams per meal, but I sometimes didn't listen and I still lost weight.  Also I exercised  an hour and 1/2 a day (maybe 4 days a week).  But recently I hit a platue and I got discouraged and now I'm not exercising half as much as I used too, plus I do cheat a lot. So I'm just maintaining my weight with alli.

I now weigh 145, and I want to weigh 135/130 , so I think I'm going to exercise more and count down some of my calorie intake.

your not supposed to use it after you hit a BMI of 27.

how do you know that alli did anything for you? i mean you said you were exercising &dieting.

I was exercising and dieting but also cheating a lot too. And I know I wouldn't have lost this much weight with the cheating and all.  Plus, I did stop taking alli for a month or so and did everything the same , and my weight stayed the same. I wasn't losing ponds as fast.  And the alli.com said I can use alli until I hit my goal weight and even after that if I start to gain pounds.  So thats why I recently started to use it again to lose the last 10/15 pounds.
