Anyone Tried Better 'N Peanut Butter?
I read several reviews of this product this morning, and everyone seemed to love it. It has about half the calories of regular peanut butter, but the ingredients make it sound like it would be rather sweet. I was just wondering if anyone here had tried it. Evidently, it comes in three varieties: Regular, low sodium, and chocolate. Thanks for your input.
I love that stuff! It does have strangely sweet taste when you first try it, but you get used to it.
:)
Thanks, i_scream. I've found a store fairly near me that sells it, so I'm going to give it a try. Half the calories of regular peanut butter and decent flavor make it sound like a winner! I appreciate that you replied.
Personally, I think that the only ingredients that should be in peanut butter are peanuts.

I agree, but is there any such thing?
Smuckers Natural Peanut Butter.
Ok, so it also has salt (edit: but there's also a no salt added version - never tried it).
But compared to this list?
PEANUTS (AS DEFATTED PEANUT FLOUR AND NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER), TAPIOCA SYRUP, PURE WATER, DEHYDRATED CANE JUICE, RICE SYRUP, VEGETABLE GLYCERIN, SOY FLOUR, SALT, TAPIOCA STARCH, NATURAL FOOD FLAVORS, PAPRIKA & ANNATO, CALCIUM CARBONATE, LECITHIN, VITAMINS E & C (ANTIOXIDANTS).
I'd take the Smuckers any day (and twice on Sunday, because I really like peanut butter).
I looked up the ingredients yesterday, which is why I thought it might be kind of sweet. But, looking at the link you provided, I see Smuckers Natural is the same high calories as all the other peanut butters. Since I'm mainly concerned with the calorie content, and I don't eat peanut butter every day, I think I may still give Better 'N Peanut Butter a try. If I decide I don't care for it, Smuckers Natural will be my choice. I DO appreciate and respect your input, though, Amethystgirl. Thanks so much!

Crazy Richard's -- only ingredient is: Peanuts.... and it is so yummy that I cannot have it in my house anymore, or I simply subsist on Peanut butter sandwiches...
Personally, I thought the Better 'n Peanut Butter was vile and threw it out -- but I have always hated PB with added sugar, so I should have known better anyway.....
The sweetness is what I have reservations about. Darn it! But, I just don't want all the calories. I just checked out the Crazy Richard's website. Sounds good, just like the Smucker's sounds good. What to do, what to do. Probably will just have to resign myself to 190-200 cals per 2 Tbsp serving. Thanks, Coach_K.
I personally like it, but not better then peanut butter, once I'm in maintenance I'll go back to regular peanut butter right now like u I'm more concerned with the calories.
While I'm concerned about the calories, for sure -- I also need to learn to be able to have it in the house and not eat the whole thing at one sitting (yes, quite the exaggeration) -- rather than substituting a low/no-cal item that I can go "hog-wild" on.
Also -- I made a pact with myself a long time ago that I would not eat things that I didn't like just because they are low in calories, fat, sugar, etc. I want to make smart choices, indulge occasionally, and enjoy my food -- forever.

Oh dont get me wrong I do enjoy the stuff just not as much as peanut butter. I wont eat things I dont like just cause they low in cals, fat sug. etc. either, really its not worth it and in my opinion leads to binging. I'll try something once and if its nasty I dont try it again.

it was that part I guess I wanted to quote myself lol.
I love bell plantation PB2 - it is real peanuts, that have been pressed to remove all the oil. It's a powder that you rehydrate with water; 2 tablespoons only has 52 calories and it tastes likes pure peanuts. You can order at bellplantation.com.

I've heard of that, McHeather! Just haven't tried it, yet. Going to order some today!! Thanks for the reminder!! ![]()
I have some PB2 its pretty good, a tad on the sweet side though
yes, i liked it. you should try it.
My PB2 sampler arrived today. Smelled nice and peanutty as I was mixing it, and looked like regular smooth peanut butter. I spread a little on a bagel. It was horrible, and the rest of the samples went in the trash. Very disappointed. At least now I know and, fortunately, just bought the sampler, so didn't spend much money. Someone in another thread mentioned Better 'N Peanut Butter is pretty good. Have you tried it? Thinking of giving that a try. ![]()
Really? You didn't like it? I think it's better than regular peanut butter. It has a pure peanut flavor. I always mix more water in than is recommended since I like it thinner. To each their own I guess - Sorry!

I bought some of the Smucker's Natural this past weekend. Yummmmmmmm!!! The best!! Can hardly stay away from it. I do limit myself to just one tablespoon on a slice of toast. I could eat it by the spoonful. Thanks for mentioning it.
