has anyone tried byetta?

Quote  |  Reply

I have posted another byetta question, earlier today and cannot believe I didnt get any responses.  I'm sure someone out there has heard of it or tried it.  Any one have any thoughts at all?   It is working for me like you wouldnt believe, I have only consumed 280 cal today after working out for an 1.5 and still do not feel hungry or tired.   I have usually consumed about 600 cal by now and it's only noon.  I dont feel deprived...i feel full!!!!   People are so quick to try Alli, Hoodia and anything else they can get thier hands on to lose weight and I tell you this is working!!! I have losed 5 lbs in 1 week, I was not able to ever to that before.  EVER!!!   and I have tried hoodia and Alli amoung other things... Hoodia does nothing and I am afraid to leave my house with Alli and accidents.  I want to share this with other's cause of all the forums I read, its the same thing..everyone is looking for that one thing that makes you feel full and satisfied and never finding it and they are frustrated beyond belief.  My doctor says its perfectly safe with mininal side affects and for the first time in 20 years, I feel my body working properly.  Although it is an injection, it is not insulin.  I would like some comments from others, please

Anyone else tried this at all????

I'm trying to make this a lifestyle change, not a quick fix, so no diet "pills" for me. What is it?
I think the best thing is to ask your doctor. And it is not a quick fix.  You definitily should do life style changes...but when you do all that and then you still dont lose the weight....it gets frustrating and you start to believe all the other hype out there.  Byetta from my own research on the net, is FDA approved...it helps the pancreas control the insulin that is released into your body after eating.  It also functions in the liver, but I dont want to give you false info, so the best bet is to look it up on the internet.   I know it slows the food from being absorbed into your blood stream and fulls you up alot sooner.  It is an injection. A pen injection.  The needle so so small you dont feel it.  okay...maybe a tiny pinch. YOu have to get it by prescription.  My insurance covered it and I dont have great insurance.   Hope that helps.  I feel there is hope for me...finally.
YellI looked up Byetta It seems to be for type2 diabetics. The stats on people loosing weight from byetta was this---> Will BYETTA affect my weight?

Patients taking BYETTA may feel less hungry and eat less. In clinical trials, on average, people lost 5 pounds in 30 weeks, though BYETTA is not a weight loss product.* Some medicines for type 2 diabetes, such as sulfonylureas and insulin, can cause weight gain, while other drugs, such as metformin, do not affect weight.

5 pounds in 30 weeks??

30 weeks thats 7 months by eating healthy you can be down alot more weight then 5 lbs, more like 50 depending how serious you are.

I wish you all the best though, sometimes we just have to go threw the hoops to come to the realization that there is no magical cure for our weightloss, except the obvious, eat the proper foods. I know it sucks, but its the sad truth...lol I hate it tooSealed

Not sure where you got you information from, but I have only been on byetta since Jan 2 and have lost 7 lbs...you know what I had to eat yesterday and felt fine.....1 banana, 2 oranges, 1 cup tea,  half a cheeseburger,  and half cup ice cream.   Do you know I felt full and satisfied all day long.  byetta is not insulin, it helps your body regulate your insulin levels.  It also slows the food in your digestive track so you feel full longer and much quicker.   Yes it was originally developed for diabetes but my doctor has perescribed it to 40 of his patients who cannot lose weight and has had nothing but great things to say about it.    I cant help but feel there is a lot of negativity in trying new things....eveyone states they have to do this the old fashioned way, implying that being overweight is a choice.  I excerised everyday, but never had control over what I ate, becaue my insulin levels kinda dictated to me when to eat, what to eat, and how much to eat, resulting keeping track of every single calorie and feeling so dang miserable and deprived, like I failed once again.   I feel this injection took care of all that.  I dont count calories anymore, I dont weigh my food anymore and I am not a slave to it anymore.  As I said before, I feel normal for the first time in 20 years.  I dont continuesly think about food anymore, I have alot of engergy, my acid reflux is going away.   I see there is alot of responses to the Ali question, which gives you diarehea but does not take away your craving for the foods that cause it, and the Hoodia question, which is not even FDA approved and yet, if most people could regulate thier insulin levels...that would fix the problem, since insulin is what drives everyone to eat.   That is my final two scents worth.   I am continuing my byetta as I feel terrific and definitely seeing results.
y'all, this is clearly an advertisement. just a company trying to cash in on the new year's weightloss craze.
wow, this is the 2nd time I have been accused of being an advertisement.  I guess ignorance is bliss for some people. I always was taught that if you have knowledge that could help someone, then share it.  That is all I am trying to do.   It seems to me, that if people wanted to find out for themselves about it, they can do thier own research and that starts with your very own doctor and getting your sugar checked and then you can talk to him about why, if you excercise to the point of dripping sweat for an 1 to an 1.5 5x per week continuesing for over a year and make dieting changes and only lose 2 frickin lbs, he will tell you that even if your blood glucose is normal it is your pancreas overproducing insulin so that everything you eat stores as fat and after you eat you are still hungry an hour later.   But dont take MY word for it.  Find out for yourselves how your body works.  Knowledge is the key....and by the way......I am 40 yrs old and married and 40 lbs overweifght...I'd put my picture up if my computor would let me....oops scratch that...I am now 32 lbs overweight.  So There!!!
My husband was just recently put on Byetta for his Type 2 diabetes. He was on Metformin for almost 2 yrs. Now he is doing both. Not only has the Byetta helped his blood sugar (It use to run in the 200's at all times and now it is in the normal range at ALL times)but He feels better - his appetite has decreased(which is good - he needs to lose 50lbs)-His moodiness is pretty much gone.... Also he has fought athletes foot (or so we thought) for several years with nothing helping(believe me we've tried everything) - and that is COMPLETELY cleared up. He hasn't weighed himself since he was first put on the Byetta but he says he thinks he has lost a few lbs.
As someone else said Byetta is NOT insulin. It helps your body regulate on it's own.  Our insurance is paying for my husband's prescription but that is only because he is a diabetic - they won't pay for it otherwise. It is pretty expensive. The doctor told my husband that alot people are insulin resistant or borderline and never know it. So if you are on it for weight loss and it's working for you - maybe you needed it.....

Abelene - what do you want us to do - say "oh great - finally a solution!" and run out and buy this? My weight loss program is going fine. I do not feel deprived, and I am able to regulate what and when I eat, and I've lost 25 pounds, without taking anything.

I'm sorry that you had problems with your weight loss before finding this injection, and I'm glad that you found something that works for you. But if it is working for you, why do you need people to tell give you responses about how they feel about it? You write that if people want to know more about it, they can do their own research and talk to their doctor - so maybe that's what people are doing. But why are you getting offended that nobody else is adopting your method of weight loss? That is why people are accusing you of being an adverstisement - because you don't seem to understand that people are content doing this without an injection, and that "2 frickin lbs" is good enough for some of us, and that eating healthy and exercising is the way we want to do it.

Sorry people aren't jumping on your bandwagon, but be happy that you found something, and stop looking for approval from people on a website that maintains that healthy levels of eating and exercise are the best solution.

On the commercial it says right on the bottom of the screen, "Not to be used for weight loss"  End of story.
I wasnt going to reply, I havent been on this site for awhile, but want to set the record about how I feel about Byetta.  #1, I really wanted to know if there was anyone out there who has been taking Byetta long term and what their thoughts were on it.  Instead, I get all the comments from people who have not tried, never heard of it and dimissed it without a second thought.  I was put on the defensive which was my mistake for even going there and responding to the people who never tried it.   So okay, whatever, I am still losing weight, I have been on it since the beginning of Jan and lost 15lbs.  I have  also beeen diagnosed with psoriatic arthitis as well and getting the weight off is more important for my joints and am I am hoping there is someone out there who has been on byetta for the long term and give me some of there experiences. For example, if they continued the weight loss, how long and are they still on it with no side affects, etc.   I would appreciate it if there are those of you reading this and have not tried it, then please do not respond.
