Has anyone tried cardio strip/ pole/ catwalk classes to lose weight?
I live in Tallahassee, FL and just found a very neat sounding place -- it's called "Art of the Catwalk" http://www.artofthecatwalk.com/ and it offers all kinds of really fun classes! I'm talking pole dancing, strip cardio, club style dance, etc.
I'm thinking about joining, but it's kinda pricey -- about $150 for a student for 3 months. I'd have to put my other gym membership on hold (which, thankfully, they let you do where I go!)
Has anyone tried these classes? I'm a little intimidated at gyms (mostly because of my recent weight gain) , but I think if I get into it, it would solve some of my gym motivation problems.
For those of you that have tried something similar -- can it really be a good workout?
I've taken classes for the las 3 years and love it. I agree with mpatitucci, that at the beginner levels their isn't a lot of cardio work, but lots of strength training. Now at an advanced level, I get an AMAZING cardio and full-body strength workout. If you want to use it in place of other exercise, I don't recommend it until you've advanced a few levels. It's definately great though. So much fun, and you really get to know your body.
I say, go for it!
