Has anyone tried the Fat Flush Diet?

Quote  |  Reply

I just found out about this diet and supposedly how well it works, but I'm skeptical that it's just another version of the Atkins. If you've tried it, how was the outcome?

I have not tried that specific diet, but I find that fad diets don't work as well and regular diet and exercise.

But if you try it and it works for you - let me know!

I don't know much about this diet but from what I know it sounds much worse than the Atkins as it restricts calories. I suggest you just stick to what we know best around here, good old Calorie Counting. Let me know if you need help getting started.

This thread might be a good read:

You can't "flush" fat. "Diets" don't work. If you cannot stick to something for the rest of your life why bother? There is no magic answer, secret diet, quick fix. It is about controlling your calorie intake, clean/balanced eating and exercise. Diets just cause more problems. You will end up messing up your metabolism and gaining it all back. Don't bother.

I haven't tried it, but these diets interest me.  It doesn't sound like Atkins in principle, but has in common a very strong link to its own family of expensive nutritional supplements.

This link summarizes it:

http://www.aolhealth.com/diet/fat-flush-diet

3 phases.  The first is a 2 week detox with who-knows-what, which promises up to 12 inches of reduction of something.  Find out for yourself, but I'm not spending $150 for hope-in-a-bottle.  The later phases sound more reasonable - exercise and moderation and journal-keeping - but you can find all that on this site.  There seems to be a persistent need to drink whey protein shakes.  I can pretty well guess which brand works the best.....

Terms to avoid:

"Fat flush"
"Detox"
"$__ per bottle/treatment/pill/shake/walrus tusk"
"The [fill in the blank] diet"

I tried it briefly, years ago, and am relying on memory.  What I remember is being really hungry, and only lasting about 3 days.  And a lot of diluted cranberry juice.  It's nothing like Atkins, what I remember is very little, very specific foods that were not particularly low carb.  It would work if you have the willpower to follow it (I didn't but maybe you do), but I think it would be a short term solution.

It might make you lose some weight on the scale but it won't be fat that you're losing! Plus, like some others have mentioned, it probably isn't sustainable for the rest of your life so what's the point?

If you're trying to lose a couple pounds (which will come off mostly in water weight) quickly, such as for a wedding or special event, then it might be a good way to go. But if you want lasting, real fat-loss results stick to eating a balanced diet and exercising.

yes i've tried it, it's nothing like atkins, and it works. do it. get all your supplies before hand so you're ready to go. be ready for headaches followed by real, lasting results. if you can, i suggest you buy the book. it's great to have on hand if you have questions or problems.

I believe one of the most positive things about this site is the vigor with which FAD DIETS are called Junk by many of the participants.  I agree with the negatives above ............avoid anything that promises lightening fast results, sends money to someone except your grocer, people who used it and found it good are still trying to lose weight, detox is in the title, fat flush is in the wording.  Only one way to "flush fat" and that is free!

Alas there is no magic pill, drink, or chant.  You are in a great place to find a good path to healthy weight, stick around!

the fat flush simply encourages a better diet, and gives specific guidelines on how to get started most safely and effectively. it also encourages long term diet changes to keep the weight off and the toxins away. you don't have to buy anything - i found the book helpful but it is certainly doable without it.

i believe the original poster asked who has tried it and what their results were, not for a bunch of people with no understanding of the program to go off about fad diets. yes, many diet programs don't work. but this one does, if you can stick with it.

After reading about this fat flush diet, I was struck that time after time the phrase "medical research questions whether this works" showed up in the material.  One site had a product for sale under the Fat Flush name.  I don't believe people's comments are far off target on this one.  But having said that I think we all have to judge for ourselves after exploring the plan.

Every site has a large group of biased people. It's up to the OP to instantly believe 100% of what the majority says or to think for themselves and to do solo researching.

I always remember that no matter what people say I will make my own opinion on the subject in the end of the day.
