Anyone tried the HCg diet? Is it working for you?
My aunt put my very obese mom on the HCg diet and so far she's lost over 50 lbs. She is still quite a bit over 200 so she's got more work to do. It's suppose to retrain your body to metabolize the foods you eat (most all of them) instead of them turning into fat. It's also reshaping her body by evening out the reserve fat. Can't wait to she how well she looks when she's done.
I don't do diets any more. I've tried them all they just don't work. They all seem to have some crackpot theory that eliminates whole food groups. What does work, for me, is to eat fewer calories than I burn and to eat only highly nutritious foods, no junk or prepared foods. I lost a lot a couple of years ago, then maintained it (I did fluctuate up and down, but it was basically the same) for nearly 2 years, and now I'm losing again. My weight chart is in my profile.
I am living proof that calorie counting and educating oneself about nutrition will help you lose weight and keep it off for life. Use a Food Pyramid and check out The World's Healthiest Foods website, including their LIST.
"What does work, for me, is to eat fewer calories than I burn and to eat only highly nutritious foods, no junk or prepared foods."
*round of applause*
Absolutely. A temporary "diet" is not sustainable, but a lifelong committment to eating the right amount of healthy food is.
I eliminated all processed foods, only eat what I can pronounce (lol, that's no additives) and I've lost nearly 4 stones over the last 18 months. (Together with increased activity of course, but I don't "work-out" as such).
How is your Aunt doing?
I started my 'diet' venture 2 weeks ago and so far so good.
Both my husband and I lost 50 lbs each on the Simeon's HCG Protocol,
and it's been 4 months and neither of us has gained any of our weight
back. Not only that, we both are convinced that it truly is a "weight loss
cure". Why do I say this?
Well first off, this protocol completely healed my husband. You must
know his background to understand why I say this. He experienced
starvation most of his childhood by neglectful alcoholic parents. In
order to get food while his parents were on a binge, he and his little
brother would to go door to door saying they were on a 'scavenger
hunt' and hand the householder a list of food ingredients - "noodles",
"tomato sauce" etc., and when they had gotten enough for a meal, they
would run home and make spaghetti or whatever else they could artfully
acquire. So whenever he finally got a meal he ate until he gorged
himself and could fit no more, as he never knew when or if he might
get the next one.
Consequently, all through his life, no matter how much food my husband
ate, he never felt the sensation of fullness - at least, not until his
stomach was so full it couldn't allow another ounce of food. Only then
would he feel satisfied.
Well, the day we started Phase 3 of our first Round of HCG, he was
excited to finally be able to eat a large plate of food. He loaded up
his plate and was shocked that after only 5 minutes of eating, he was
full. Completely FULL. He was absolutely amazed (and so was I!) as
he'd never, ever known the sensation of satiety. It was completely new
to him! And he has had that new feeling after every meal ever since.
He no longer overeats, at all. Though losing 50 lbs, he still has not
gained any of it back. He gets up every day and the scale is exactly
the same - no matter what he eats.
This protocol also healed me. My childhood consisted of eating either
Fruit Loops, Trix, Captain Crunch or Pop Tarts for breakfast every
morning. Consequently I have been suffering from hypoglycemia ever
since my early teenage years. If I went more than an hour without
food in my stomach I would become faint and clammy. But now, after
finishing the HCG Protocol, I can go hungry if need be,
and although my stomach might be growling unpleasantly, I feel fine.
My body has learned to burn my fat for fuel during times when there is
nothing else available. It is a wonderful feeling of freedom to no
longer be enslaved to food as I once was.
So, given that, along with seeing many others who have been cured
their satiety, insulin resistance, and other dietary problems on this
protocol, I am absolutely convinced that this protocol, if followed
properly, is indeed, a "cure". The amount of people who have been
successful on this Protocol are becoming so numerous that it's efficacy
is becoming irrefutable, no matter how much the weight loss industry
tries to discredit it.
Oh, by the way - afterwards we both had blood panels done, and the Dr.
said we were in the "peak of health". Cholesterol, triglycerides, blood
sugar all normal for the first time in years. My husbands cousin and his
wife also did the Protocol, and their health greatly improved as well.
They did not gain their weight back either.
Me, my boyfriend, my mom and my co-worker are all on it. All of us are losing the weight and not starving while doing so. So far it has only been 4 days for me and already lost 7 lbs. My boyfriend is 4 days and 9 lbs and my mom is 12 days and 10 lbs. I also worked with someone (he's the one that got me started) that tried every diet and this was the only one that worked for him. He went from 395 to 230 and he's been off of it for a while and not gained any back. I think it is a miracle for people who are overweight and haven't been able to get any where on other diets.
My husband and I have been on the HCG Diet and are on our 3rd course. What I find is that for the first time in 30 years I have lost weight (47 pounds so far) and kept it off.
In the past I would be able to lose 5-10 pounds but then would go right back to the same old number. I gained my weight in my early 20's pregnancies and health issues, and gave up trying after gaining weight with my doctors help, 1200 cal, then 1000 cal, then 800 cal each time gaining 5 pounds per month. If I ate normal I would not gain or lose, so I stayed eating my 2300 cal per day and decided this was the weight my body wanted and I would not fight it any more.
When we were approached with the HCG diet, I watched my son lose 25 pounds in 6 weeks and keep it off, so we decided to try it. If I could keep of the weight I would do a 2nd course. With the first course we went 4 weeks and then it was thanksgiving, so we went to maintenance early. I lost 25 pounds, and kept it off through the holidays. My 2nd course didn't go as well, with menopause and a major plateau I only lost 15 pounds, but gained 7 back the day of my last shot. This was due to a period that lasted 13 days, and my first in 6 months.
We are now starting week 4 of our 3rd course. I just broke a major plateau and have lost 17 pounds (14 of which were in week one).
My answer to does it work, YES!
I am now the at my weight before my 1st pregnancy, and am over 1/2 the way to my goal. I am not hungry, and find that during maintenance and normal eating I no longer crave the foods that my eating habits focused around. We are learning to eat healthier and less, therefore we can move more and do more.
I too have used the HCG Diet and lost a total of 26 lbs in two (26 day) rounds. I don't understand people's ignorant comments regarding the HCG Diet as I know for a fact that it does work. I use CC to help maintain my weight and realise that once the weight is off the hard part is keeping it off and you have to re-think your lifestyle and eating habits. I know a number of people who have used this protcol with positive results and would recommend this "diet" as a way to get to your ideal weight quickly and painlessly. The rest is then up to you!
FYI I am a 38 year old, 5 ft 6 mother of four currently weighing 128 lbs.
I'll go further to say that once you are cured this way, you dont really have to work hard to maintain as you might think. Obesity is a disease rooted in the mind and once that is cured you just dont crave that old way. It's not really a matter of will power at all. :)
